I'm trying hard to get hold of The Marbury Lens, but my library is having some uncharacteristic difficulties with my interlibrary loan!I’m slowly working on Flashman at the Charge, by George MacDonald Fraser. My one New Year’s resolution was to take time for reading every day, but it’s gone to hell already.

God, DB - I remember absolutely LOVING the Flashman" books!! -- Wonderful, exciting historical fiction, indeed!
I try to plan what I'm reading, but it usually tends to blow up in my face! lol. No matter what I plan on reading, I find another book yelling at me "Read me now! Read me now! You know you want to!" lol. I've been wanting to read Swan Song. I've heard such great things about McCammon! :)
Finished reading Alone By Lisa Gardner i really enjoyed this book i might give her other books a try
Dustin wrote: "Ohhh, Kathy! You have not read Swan Song? You've just GOT TO! And McCammon is a great writer, Btw!"I've definitely heard that! I think I foresee some shuffling of books on my TBR pile around in my near future! lol
Reading Full Dark, No Stars hardcover and War of the Worlds and Last Light on Kindle. Got the Kindle as a gift at Christmas and all my stuff on there now is freebie downloads. Still loving paper-in-hand reading too much, but adapting. :-)
I know what you mean, Barbara! Nothing will ever replace actual bound books for me, but my Kindle is very convenient in between! :)

Be sure to let me know what you think, Kathy!
I am just starting Dracula, The Undead by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt:
I am so curious about this book. I went to a booksigning for this book and they spoke about how much research they did for this book, historically and from Dacre's great-uncle Bram Stoker's notes. We'll see how this stacks up.
Finished Catch-22. Solid three stars. I liked the setting (I'm partial to war stories) but I didn't feel the story gripping me. And the humour was lost on me. Somehow the end left me feeling like I'd just watched a Steve McQueen movie.Well, next I'm picking up with Uncle Stephen. Wish me luck as I start Insomnia (never read it before).
Thanks, Kit & Dustin. 65 pages in and I'm very much into it. I love how King can just make you like the central character so much right from the get-go.
just started pet semetary- am thrilled to finally have a copy to take my time with and that he has called it 1 of his most frightening books he's ever written!
Dustin wrote: "You are welcome, Susanna. Insomnia is a personal favorite (then again, I LOVE everything by King!)"I'll second that, Dustin!
IT part II? Do you have a two volume edition or something? I've only ever seen/read it as one humongoid book. LOL Welcome to the group! :)
Thomas wrote: "Hi guys,I'm reading 'It - Part II' for the third times. Almost finished it.
The best King ever :)"
You are right it is the best book ever :)
Just finishing up "The Dracula Dossier" by James Reese & just starting "Get Capone" by Jonathan Eig. Big thumbs up to Reese's book! Captures the gothic feel of Stoker in an incredible way. "Capone" is shaping up nicely too (non-fiction account of Capone's fall).
Maybe the book was split into several parts, all published separately. Here the first printing of IT consisted of three volumes.
Reading The Dark Tower right now, for the first time. A little more than halfway through. (view spoiler)
I'm getting ready to tear through Blood Meridian, then Carrion Comforts, and the first book of A Game of Thrones series. after that im not sure
Kathy wrote: "I wish I could read it again.....for my first time! Discover The Dark Tower series was amazing!"
I'm about to start it for my second time. Which is almost as good, since my Alzheimer's has wiped out most of the memory of the first time.

I am reading Kafka on the Shore and Murakami reminds me so much of Stephen King, except without any of the tongue in cheek snark. I am curious if other Stephen King fans have discovered the similarities between Murakami and King. BTW if you liked the anime Spirited Away KOTS would also appeal to you.
Hi, Billy! Blood Meridian is a fantastic read, I love Cormack Macarthy's writing. But be forewarned: Blood Meridian is very, very violent. I also love George R.R. Martin's epic series. And I'm currently reading Carrion Comfort, too!
Right now I am reading a book that I picked up randomly from my shelf, Rhapsody: Child of Blood, a great read so far into the book.
Finally finished Different Seasons and I think I'm going to break down and start
next, I can't hold off any longer :)
