Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments I read The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer My Life at Rose Red by Joyce Reardon over the weekend, and it wasn't too bad, expanded on the characters a little bit and with a touch more details than the movie gives. Working on The Birds and Other Stories by Daphne du Maurier now, but only on page 5 so far.

I'm actually reading her backwards because I read Atlas Shrugged first. (Gave it 3 stars.) But since I'm reading The Fountainhead, it says something already, doesn't it? 100 pages into it and so far I like it.

I loved the Fountainhead, it brings out the good in people even under tough time to be who they are no matter what others or society tell them. Atlas Shrugged just for me went on way to long, not as great of a book, but better for times like these.

I know, Dustin. I've just been pretty frustrated w/ my progress w/ it. Great story, but a challenging read. Mr. Hugo definitely likes to hear himself talk. (So to speak. lol)

message 634: by [deleted user] (new)

Hooray! I just finished the Dark Tower Series (all in January) Which was a huge goal of mine! Now I'm off to "Hearts in Atlantis" since my husband has been nagging me to read it :D

That is a big accomplishment. I have been reading them intermittently for last few months and I'm only just finishing up #5. I could have probably done it in two months but not one. Good for you.

message 636: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments Rebecca -- "Hearts in Atlantis" is one of King's very, very best collections. You'll even meet an old friend from the Dark Tower in the first novella,...

I hope in the movie, they still have Anthony Hopkins reprising the role.

Now, Kevin. If I just told Bondama she might want to flag her comment for spoilers, is it really a good idea to quote that comment and then add to the spoiler by spoiling it more? That said, I agree with you. But it's still a spoiler.

I LOVED it!!! Now it's time to work on the dark tower related books, I've already read a few and my husband started hounding me about several others while I was reading the DT series, but I cannot skip around in reading books or I start getting things mixed up.

message 643: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments There are so many Dark Tower references throughout alot if not most of King's books, that it is so hard to catch them all. It's really cool when I do, though. :)
