message 101: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments To be honest, a lot! I didn't usually characterize my books, have so many to read/be interested in...it has opened up my life to so much literature! Of course, I didn't use to work at a bookstore before last July either so that might not help my obsession with books.

Before joining goodreads, I was actually able to just sit down with a book and finish it. Now I have too many options and am unable to finish anything! Well, some I can finish but I have entirely too many books pulling my attention and alas I cannot finish them, despite this NEVER being a problem before!

Wow, that sounds like a rant...ok *end rant*

message 102: by Danie (new)

Danie (heyydanie) ...I never kept track of what I read. I know, I'm crazy!

...rarely read beyond the YA genre. Occasionally, a mystery but that was rare.

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 510 comments ....couldn't remember if I read a book or not so many times read it again.

....had a much smaller tbr pile from wandering the library

Danielle Book Boss (daniellebookboss) | 1009 comments I never met so many people that unashamedly loved PNR. All but one person I know personally scoff at my reading choices.

message 105: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I've always been a book-a-holic but before Goodreads I never

...paid attention to series. Oh I had my favorites which I read religiously (Carpathians, Dark Hunters, Anita Blake, etc) but other books just came and went (series or not). Now I'm a fanatic about series.

...kept track of what I was reading.

...had more than 100 books in my little TBR notebook (now it's over 10,000) - thanks GRs!

...used the library as I purchased every single book I read. No wonder I was always broke. lol

message 106: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (wckdktty) | 18 comments Wow there is so many.

...TBR list grew by leaps and bounds
... Found new series that I loved based on what friends read both similar and diverse
...Would lose track of what I had already read and reread them
...Never had monthly or yearly challenges to keep me going when life gets in the way
...Met so many people who read as much as I do
...Never would have gone to e-books making life easier to read just about anywhere

The list could go on forever, many having already been mentioned by others.

message 107: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot ...had a tbr that could bury me!

Steph (angel4492) | 32716 comments I love this tread! It's such a great reminder that we are not alone in our obsession.

message 112: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 237 comments Before GR I never read authors that I didn't know.

message 113: by Mimi (new)

Mimi | 2 comments Before good reads
1. Never really saw people who ACTUALLY LIKE reading books. Not for an essay but for the pure pleasure of reading the story.
2. Never really read Young Adult books
3 Never went to my library
4 never realized all the books I'm missing out on!

message 114: by Emily (new)

Emily Kate (emily_kate_8) | 1 comments ...never have over 100 books that I wanted to read.
... that i might have a slight book addiction.
... carry a book or nook with me "just in case"
:)

message 115: by Eliabeth (new)

Eliabeth Hawthorne (eliahawthorne) | 30 comments ...rated a book. I knew my way around Barnes & Noble and Amazon, but I never bothered to rate them until I discovered Goodreads.

Lanie (Lanies Book Thoughts) (lanieadamsk) | 29 comments Realized there were so many good series out there. Never bothered to read reviews on books and never wrote them or gave opinions. Usually avoided book groups altogether because no one liked to read what I did.

message 117: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (toobloodyhot) | 41 comments ...Never realised what a rich and varied world of UF was out there in the world outside my local book store. Hundreds of series that will be going onto my TBR list.

...Never realised that people thought they were odd for having book addictions. I must have all the book worms in my family and not enough to go around to other places lol.

...Never wanted to get an ereader until I discovered how many books I want to read and how little room I have to store them. My other half bought me a kobo and it's been the best toy ever! I can carry 32000 books around with me, everywhere I go without having to buy a bigger bag haha.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments ....Never done a reading challenge. Scary times because my to-be-read pile has grown a life of it's own, and breeding I suspect.

message 120: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32716 comments Same for me, Sonya. It's so great knowing others love it as much as I do AND share my obsession with series.

LOL Val! No doubt it's breedin' - like bunnies, mine too! :D

I had also never done a reading challenge BGR (Before Goodreads).

I also had never tracked my reading. I knew I read a lot, even compared to the other readers in my life, but I had never actually counted or tracked them.

message 122: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 43 comments I've always been very shy which was why I read a lot, but Goodreads put me in touch with people with the same likes. Now I'm a little more outgoing. Lol

message 123: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (wulfgirl) .... planned out what books I was going to read next month (to meet challenge reqs!)
