After reading these posts, btw thanks!, I gotta say I'm glad I haven't bought this book yet. It's been kind of a hit or miss proposition thus far from what I'm reading.

I would have to agree with the posts. This was not my fav and it took me three days to finish. I hope this was a filler for whats to come in the fall for the next book.

I hope so too. If the rest of the books are like this one I am not going to be happy.

I have been seeing others who have been enjoying the book and have been saying good things about it and I have to say I fall into that category.I have been reading it and savoring every moment and I'M LOVING IT! Cat & Bones are more understanding of each other and more loving to each other. They have grown as a couple and I LOVE IT! Their relationship is so much stronger and that is what I want to see in the series. I want to read about Cat & Bones and their love growing not their constant bickering.
I'm a little taken back by people's comments here stating that they don't think the book was that great because it lack the spark between Cat & Bones (lack of DRAMA, tension, jealousy etc.) which they feel makes it exciting. I completely disagree and do see the spark between Cat & Bones. The spark of everlasting love and deep passion for each other.
I do not feel that drama, tension and jealousy makes the relationship more exciting. Personally I know I wouldn't want to deal with that in real life and I sure don't want to constantly read about it with my favorite fictional characters. After awhile it gets on my nerves and frustrates me instead of entertaining me and making me enjoy my escape from reality into their world.
This book demonstrates to me that love endures, matures and deepens with time. I may be a hopeless romantic but that's just me. JMHO :)
Thank God for your post, Ollie! I'm glad there are people out there who loved this book just as much as the other ones. I think I'm gonna go ahead and read TSOTG now.

Well said Ollie. I love this book too. While I can't say that it's the best so far I've read it 4x already since I got it^-^I can't really point which is best in all 5books. I usually list a ranking in series. some series are better in the first book and losses it's touch as it goes on some gets better in the middle and gets stronger in plot as it goes on but Night Huntress series is the only series I couldn't give a ranking. Each book is equal to me. Everything flows like it's natural and you can't criticize a natural thing. :-)

Well said Yui. :) Even though it is a series it seems that somehow each book can stand alone on its own merits. :)
WOW 4x already!! I'm impressed! :) LOL I'm taking my time. I find that I will re-read a paragraph of a particular scene over and over again because it impacts me on some emotional level and I want to re-play that scene with Cat & Bones. Can never get enough of those two together. :)
Agrees with you, Ollie and Yui. This book definitely shows how much Cat and Bones has grown as a married couple.

She knows that Bones loves her and will do anything to keep her safe. (sigh)
Does anyone know what Cat whispered to Bones on page 246-247? It's been bothering me. I feel like I didn't pay much attention even though i savored each word on the book. I thought at first it's about getting married in vampire terms again with their friends and family cause Cat gave up the whole big wedding idea because it gets delayed over and over and she finally realized that she has to stop waiting for the perfect moments and just make them her own but it's been very vague so I figure it's probably a plot for book 6.
Yui: She was telling Bones that she wanted Don to give her away before he died. Bones knew that Cat wanted to renew their vows with a full-out wedding but she had to rush it......so he wanted to make sure she was really okay with a quickie vowel renewal instead of the whole shebang!!

But Cat wanted a 'human wedding'. That's what she was requesting from Bones.
I have to say that I was totally disappointed that we didn't get to "see" Cat and Bones sex marathon. I felt deprived cause we only got a few little tidbits. That would have been one hellavu chapter to read! Totally unfair of you, Ms. Frost, to leave out all the juicy details. *sigh* ;)
Hey Ollie!!I agree with you too! My only problem was that I enjoyed it so much that I tried to read it slowly to savor it...I just couldn't! I missed Cat and Bones and this book didn't disappoint me at all! HORRAY FOR BOOK 5!!

I just hope this series doesn't end up like a lot of series where the first few books are great and then the author runs out of new ideas and the sequels later in the series get worse and worse. It would make me so sad to see Cat and Bones go down like that.

This was one of my biggest problems with the book but I was trying to avoid too big of a spoiler. I was waiting and waiting for this wedding. First they were going to have it and I was so excited. Then you didn't hear of the wedding for a while so I really thought this book would have a big bang of a wedding but noo.........I was so disappointed. What a let down. I hope Jeaniene puts a wedding in the next book somewhere.

I liked the book well enough - what I did not like was the fact that I should have read the books about shade & mencaries before this one!At least I was aware of them just didn't realize they were part of the series - so I guess I'll go get them.
I think that the chemistry between cat & bones is very evident. I don't need a chapter 32 to tell me that they are very very much in love. - just my opinion
I just finihsed reading this book and I have to agree, it is the weakest of the series, however I liked it enough. I feel as if something was missing in the story... I love Jeaniene Frost's work, but this one didn't work for me. =/

I finished the book this afternoon. Its not the best of the series, but I still enjoyed it. And the sex scene doesn't really compare to chapter 32, I think I definitely prefer Bones being charge, and if it was Bones in charge during that scene, I probably would have liked the whole candle wax thing lol. Cat using it in certain parts, wasn't that great!
I have to say I was disappointed with this book. I love Cat and Bones and I have enjoyed all the spin off books as well. I just couldn’t get into this book. It took me like a week to finish it. Normally I read a Night Huntress book in a day or two. I didn’t care for the plot and couldn’t feel the spark between Bones and Cat. There were some touching moments but overall it was a major let down, I have been so looking forward to this book. I just hope book 6 is better.
After reading This Side of the Grave for the 3rd time, I'm ready to share my thoughts on it. Yes, it wasn't as dramatic as the other books in the series and there was never really a huge (as in hold your breath, cross your fingers hoping Cat and Bones don't die) moment but I liked it. I liked Cat and Bones just being together minus the drama and the part about Bones teaching Cat to fly was hilarious! I think what was lacking here wasn't the chemistry between Cat and Bones, but the Big Bad Villain to stir things up -- Apollyon was gross and not at all scary. Kinda wish he met a more gruesome end. So while this book isn't as dramatic or action packed as the rest of the series, I still loved it! It's not my favorite but I wouldn't hesitate to read it over and over again because its still the Cat and Bones I love!

Someone help me here. Did I skip a book? So it seems there's a period of time between the Gregor book and this one. When did Cat drink from Mencheres? When did she have his power and make things freeze? There have been a few referances to things I have read. Help!

The two books are First Drop of Crimson and Eternal Kiss of Darkness.

I hate when this happens. You may want to consider stopping and wait until you read these two. It's confusing.
