Because they got tired of people asking them if their daughter wanted a cracker.
Does anyone know what bird makes that call that sounds like the sound a dog makes when it's sad? It's kind of a high pitched whine, but very short.
That hardly sounds reasonable. F**ing scam if you ask me.
But clever of you to block out your license plate so we can't stalk you. Very googlish!

They'll have to replace the entire rear quarter panel and the trunk (boot) lid. There may be unseen damage underneath as well.
It would probably only be $1,500 to bang it out with a sledge & make it serviceable, but who wants that?
What happened is that the car did exactly what it is designed to do. It crumpled itself to absorb the impact, rather than passing that force on to your bones and flesh. A fair trade, I'd say.
Yay, Philerino brought in the logic. I always wonder about all this stuff and here he's illuminated it for me. I love Phil! And Clark!

And how, Phil, and how.

Watch it, you're stepping all over my lawn patch, Einstein!

The marriage prohibition between U.S. soldiers and German women was in force longer than the general order against fraternization – until December 1946. A survey conducted in 1955 in West Germany counted 66,730 children born out of wedlock during the occupation, 37,000 of whom had American fathers. Over 10% of them were the children of African-American soldiers. This photo shows German foster parents with children from a German-American relationship in Munich (1949). Photo by Hanns Hubmann.

Looks like the genetically engineered love-child of Daffy Duck, The Grinch and Jay Leno.
Sometimes I notice the most odd, random, serendipitous connections between books. The last four books I've read have nothing to do with each other. Strong Motion by Jonathan Franzen takes place mostly in Somerville, Mass. The next book I read, Sleepless Nights by Elizabeth Hardwick, the narrator lives for a time in Somerville, Mass. Then I read The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. Then yesterday I started reading The Great Hill Stations of Asia and I came across a passage describing how The Mysterious Affair at Styles was based on Lady Ormsby-Gore, who died of strychnine poisoning at the Savoy Hotel in Mussoorie, one of the Himalayan hill stations.
I didn't follow your chain of reasoning after the first two books. How are the last two connected to the first two?

Special request to all you kids returning to school in the next few days: If you see someone who is struggling to make friends or being bullied because he/she doesn't have many friends or because they are shy or not as pretty or not dressed in the nicest clothes -- PLEASE step up. Say hi or at least smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference in someone's life. Re-post please :)

Every time I go to England on googlemaps, I see palm trees. It's like it's in the tropics or something!
