Mike Lee (dmlangel1101) | 5 comments Hi all, my name is Mike, I am from Fairfield, Ohio, I have both a Bachelors Degree in English and a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, I am retired and I just finished my third Science Fiction / Dystopian Novel called Fear.

Mario the lone bookwolf (mariothelonebookwolf) Hi!

I am 32, from Austria and totally into science fiction, fantasy, humor and science topics and always trying to widen my range.
I try to read as many different authors as possible. But I fail because of a serious lack of consequence so that I often get stuck with series. I really try to avoid that trap.

I have read many of the old and new science fiction, humor and fantasy authors and series. The old ones are sometimes harder to read and I am lazy.
And there are not many easier Titans of my favorite genres left I can read.
With the new ones I have the problem that I don´t certainly know how good they will be. And I don´t want to be the one who runs in the blade of an unsatisfying read. A lack of altruism I guess.
Instead, I wait until the book has enough positive reviews on which I can rely. That´s not gentleman style, I know.
But I cherish people who sacrifice themselves for the sake of other readers with uncertain, newly published books. There should be monuments build for them.

I think the best way to read good books is to cooperate with readers who have similar reading interests. And in the brilliant concept of Goodreads to connect this knowledge to rankings and lists.
I base most of my reading choices on Listopia and have never regretted it. Human swarm intelligence is on its rise.

Best regards

David Orange | 1 comments Hi Gang,
I'm new to Goodreads. Three published novels under my belt in addition to being a career actor, both on Broadway and film -- twice co-starring on Broadway and some memorable films such as my humorous portrayal of Sleepy Klingon in Star Trek VI.
Writing is my passion, and right now I'm knee-deep in Florida Everglades writing a sequel to my novella Mutant Specimen L about the python snake epidemic in the Glades. Some close calls with these beasts who aggressive enough to eat up some alligators along the way. Doing my best not to be their next meal!

Darinne Paciotti | 1 comments Hi all! I’m a reader of multiple subgenres of fantasy and a writer of mythological urban fantasy. Some of my favorite fantasy authors are Paula Volsky, Juliet Marillier, Melanie Rawn, and Sergei Lukyanenko. I’m reading (and writing) more romance lately, but I’m always on the lookout for unusual fantasy stories with strong female characters.

Eli Selig | 8 comments Hi All. I've been a reader of Sci-Fi and Fantasy since as a child I first read Rocket Ship Galileo as a young man. Since then I've gone on to read a ton of Sci Fi and Fantasy. My favorites are certainly Stranger in a Strange Land as well as the Wheel of Time series. Lately, I've been reading some Lit RPG (Aleron Kong) and the wonderful Donsaii series (Laurence Dahners). Some other favorites include Elizabeth Moon and Brandon Sanderson.

I've also been lucky enough to finish writing my own book which was recently published on Amazon, Witch in Winter. It was a ton of fun to write and I've been happy to get some pretty positive feedback on it.

I'm looking forward to becoming active in the group and discussing some great books!

Trevor (mutinytrev) | 2 comments Hello there! I am Trevor, and I am a sci-fi / fantasy author. Currently, I'm working on a series or short stories that will build the lore behind my first major novel release in the near future. I enjoy reading sci fi, fantasy, speculative fiction, history and religious study material.

I can also be found on twitter as @mutinytrev, and my own site: www.mutinywerks.org.

Trevor (mutinytrev) | 2 comments Hi! My name is Trevor, and I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. I am currently building my world through short stories detailing it's early history. I'm currently learning who to incorporate Goodreads into my platform. It's been a bit challenging, but I think if I participate in more of these discussions, and manage to read a book or two a month I'll get there.

M.R. Richardson Hello. I am MR. Richardson. I write space opera that is has a military sci-fi edge. My first novel is called Galactic Mandate and I am hoping with the support of the community I can write many more. I am heavily influenced by Star Wars. I love the original trilogy and the the prequels as well. I don't mind the Disney sequels and Rogue One is one of my favorite star wars movies.

MR-Richardson.com is my website.

Adrian Maudling | 2 comments HI my name is Adrian but I answer to Ade, Adie, A or anything really.
I was originally from London but now reside in Norfolk.
I love Fantasy and Science Fiction and I am an honorary geek and newbie Cosplayer
Over the years I played self created modern fantasy games based around D&D rules and realised we were creating stories each time we played.
I eventually decided to tweak the stories and characters to make a hopefully readable story and my first book is out Friday
if you want to know more or just chat then give me a shout
Happy reading everyone ( and Happy Christmas as it's getting closer and has invaded everywhere.)

J.W. Golan | 5 comments Greetings fellow readers, writers and explorers of literature.

I'm an aerospace engineer with more than two decades in the industry that - while I do like a good science fiction novel now and again - probably reads more fantasy novels these days than science fiction. Having to work with the real science (yes, I've worked with the design of rocket engines during my career), I usually don't want to have to deal with another dose of it when I sit down to read fiction.

I'm always looking for new recommendations to read - often picking out books that I know I can share with my three kids (two of them in high school).

Hemanth Bathala (hemanthkumarbathala) | 2 comments Land of 7 by Hemanth Kumar Bathala Land of 7

Hi,

I, the author of 'Land of 7' a YA & Children's Fantasy, am a book lover. Inspired by Sherlock Holmes and RK Narayan, my favorite genre is Fantasy. Love to see Fantasy movies.

I, Hemanth Kumar Bathala, B. Tech (ECE) am a Double Gold Medalist with Roll of Honor from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, India, a prestigious institute; am owner of a multi-million dollar networking business; am an Inventor; am a Carnatic Musician (Vocal); and am winner of NaNoWriMo 2007 (National Novel Writing Month – a group of over 100,000 people from across the world who attempted to write a novel in 30 days).

Captivated by Fantasy since early childhood, it was a dream of mine to be an accomplished author in Fantasy. My first ever novel was at the age of eight! Written in just five straight days, this work ‘Land of 7’ from my pen is a culminates in realization of my much-cherished dream. I've completed writing six sequel books in the series of ‘Land of 7’, most of which written in ten days, ready to be published. Presently I'm working on a much-awaited seventh sequel to this novel ‘Land of 7’.

Brad Center | 1 comments Hi, I'm new to the group (relatively speaking). I've been reading some of the threads and decided to introduce myself.

I live and work in northern VA. I've worked as a Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill, as a consultant, and as an elected official in Fairfax County. I have been reading science and speculative fiction for decades and have a good historical knowledge of the genre. Looking forward to some good conversations.

Kim (kimwedlock) | 4 comments Hi! I'm Kim, reader & author.
I'm pretty new to Goodreads groups and forums, but I'm tired of feeling like I'm on my own out here so I'm looking to be brave and connect with other writers, readers (because I haven't the foggiest how to market D:), and build up my own bookshelves with recommendations.
Any fantasy for adults/new adults is right up my street, with adult protagonists! I've had more than my fill of teenage & kid protagonists.

Eli Steele. Part time fantasy author. Fan of authors with 4 initials, and some with 3, too.

Still reading on the iPhone.

Thanks for having me!

Al Philipson (printersdevil) | 41 comments Al Philipson. A fake person (pseudonym) who fronts for a geek who is ducking his fans (all 2 of them). Unlike him, I'm just short of being Superman.

I grew up reading science fiction, especially the works of Robert Heinlein, most of which still adorn my library. Heinlein had a large influence on my writing and my attitudes in life. I attend church regularly and sing in the praise group, at the sufferance of the minister, who appreciates my voice, but only tolerates my antics.

I snap viciously at anyone who dares interrupt me when I'm writing.

John Rojewski | 6 comments Hello, I am John. I just joined to see what options I have to get some reviews of my first (and only) book, Project WIM. It is available with some minimal cost, but I have literally no marketing plan and consequently no sales.
I believe a review or two might be helpful. Is that a service provided by request, or do I just click on a button somewhere?
Thanks, John Rojewski

I love heading to the cinema and catching the newest releases. I'll read anything apart from romance. Thanks for having me in the group.

John, you're up against the numbers game. There are millions of new titles popping up every year, plus all those that were published in previous years. Getting noticed with all that "noise" is very difficult.

If you manage to sell more than 3 copies (outside of your family), you're actually doing well. Anything beyond that is pure gold.

Not that it's impossible.

The two "secrets" seem to be:
1. Writing and publishing a LOT of good stuff.
2. Going viral (which is usually an accident), will put you in the "big time" (very rare).

If writing is something you don't love with all your heart, stop now. Otherwise, have a ball, make some noise, and enjoy the ride.

message 923: by John (new)

John Rojewski | 6 comments Very interesting! I think I have more than 3 sales in 2019, so maybe I should just continue with the next in the Project WIM series, since it is accumulating words and growing well.
I will continue to reach out, but thanks for your rapid and sincere response to my query.
