Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer by Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

Yup, you read right. We will be reading this book together and discussing this book. I have not read this book in years.

I hope some of you feel compelled to talk about this book.

Starts on July 20th.

message 2: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Will def be participating in this BR! Hope all you major or even minor Twilight fans read or reread this with us! :D

message 3: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Symko (csymko) | 6 comments I will be participating in this BR too! I love this book. I read it earlier this year and don't mind rereading it one bit.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

That's good. I was so mad at the end of this book the first time that I actually threw it across the room and left it on the floor for a month. Then I gave it to my aunt to read and haven't seen it for 2 years.

I can't wait to try reading it again.

message 5: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments What made you angry at the end? I've read it but can't seem to remember details...I practically threw the one when Edward left but restrained myself

message 6: by Heather (new)

Heather (nickyblue7) | 486 comments i may participate in this BR if i finish another groups challenge first which is possible. Cant wait to get mad at Jacob (i always seem to reading this book)

message 7: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments I am going to try to join this one. If I can, when I can. I love this series. Even though I thought New Moon was a little too whiny on Bella's part so don't really like that one. Breaking Dawn isn't my favorite of the series but I do like it.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I did like eclipse the best. But Z just finished that book with out me and I went to watch the movie so I don't want anything messing with my movie experience.

It was better then the first two movies by far :)

message 9: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Eclipse was my favorite too!!! I still have to see the movie. But unfortunately when the movie came out all my money went to bills and paying for unfortunate car events. But I will for sure next week because I get paid!!! Ok I have decided I am in...I will make time and even if you all get a little ahead of me I will catch up on the weekends.

message 10: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That's great! I'm glad to see so many people interested in joining. :)

We were going to try and go see Eclipse today, but my dad had to be at work at 7AM, and mom can't drive. :( We are going to try for tomorrow.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Heather (nickyblue7) | 486 comments saw eclipse yest and got freaked out by the paranormal activity 2 trailer

message 15: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) LOL! I don't even want to see that movie. It looks so retarded! I can find better movies to spend my time watching. I haven't been to see E yet, but we're going to see it soon. Heard it was seriously epic! :)

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather (nickyblue7) | 486 comments the action scenes are really cool. Also PA2 trailer was supposed to b taken out of every group of trailers they were going to play before eclipse But they didnt for rs and since i wasnt expecting it i was covering my eyes and trying to distract myself

message 17: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments PA2??

message 18: by Heather (new)

Heather (nickyblue7) | 486 comments Paranormal Activity 2

message 19: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That's not cool.. Why would they even play that before something like Eclipse? People make no sense to me whatsoever. Well, except for the people on GRs. :).

message 20: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Okay, so we're a day late. Anyway, here's the first assignment:

Chapters 1 - 3, pages 1 - 50. Try to come up with questions!!

Happy Reading! :D

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I read chapters 1-3. Well I finish all of book one. I could not stop reading. Meyer's didn't write a grand piece of lit but the story is def fun and pulls you in.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Anybody else reading Breaking Dawn with us?

Ok. Questions:

1.) I love the part when Edward drags Bella over to her house to tell Charlie they were engaged and getting married! What do you think. Have you had to tell your parents yet?

2.) How do you feel about Jacob not wanting to attend the wedding? What about Seth being the only wolf at the wedding?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

My answers:

1.) I have not had to tell my parents about a engagement. Not yet but I don't plan on getting married, ever. Both I know things could happen between now and my end of time. Anyway, I thought the best part was when she told Edward not to say anything until he hung up his gun. That part is great and really played up Charlie's character :)

2.) I was upset that Jacob was going to ditch Bella but I also understood why.

Some quotes that I found:

"Charlie's expression went from strained friendliness to black suspicion in a second."

"But I'll see you this way in my head. Pink cheeks. Heartbeat. Two left feet. All of that". I deliberately stomped on his foot as hard as I could. He smiled, "That's my girl."

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I like just started reading it. I will have to post my answers and some wuestions as soon as I'm done with chpt 3. :)

Love the second quote, Elyssa!!

Second assignment:

Chapters 4 & 5, pages 51 - 98. HR!

message 25: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Third/Next assignment:
Chapters 6 & 7, pages 99 - 138. Happy Reading!

message 26: by Zakiya (last edited Jul 23, 2010 09:45AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) 1.) That was too cute! "Wait till he hangs up his gun!" Classic!! Of course, the 2nd question won't apply to me for years to come :).

2.) Jacob not attending must have hurt Bella so much, but I can see why he didn't come. It would have hurt him too much to have to watch Edward take Bella away from him forever. Seth was pretty brave to come. I like that. The bond that he and Edward have is amazing! Too bad all of them aren't that nice to one another.

Here's one of the quotes I found from when Charlie was walking B down the aisle:

"Sudden;y, it was only the pressure of Charlie's hand on mine that kept me from sprinting headlong down the aisle."

message 27: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Today's assignment:

BOOK TWO: JACOB! Chapters 8 - 10, pages 139 - 205.

message 28: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Hi guys,

I am working on chapter 6 or 7 now (can't really remember...and don't ever feel like looking back on the Nook)

Sorry I am late just started the book yesterday.

1. I like how Edward phrased the question. I think is the way most things are done nowadays, especially when not many guys ask the dad for the daughters hand in marriage anymore. I haven't been asked the question or had to tell my parents anything like that yet. But I have a feeling that the time may come soon. I have been dating the same guy for almost 7 years and from my understanding he is waiting for a job in his "field of study" before the question will be popped.

2. I completely understand how Jacob feels. If it were me I wouldn't have shown up either. I love Seth anyway. He is I believe the best werewolf of the pack.

And seeing as I don't like to look back through my Nook and I don't write anything down when I read I don't remember one of my favorite quotes. But this 1st third of the book is my favorite.

1)I told my mom over the phone and she just said "That's nice, honey," and went on with her conversation. I guess she just knew it was coming. I was so upset. I wanted sequels and happiness.

2)I understand why Jacob didn't want to come, and why he showed up in the long run. I had an ex that was a great friend, but when I told him I was getting married he quit talking to me. It would have meant a lot if he had showed up and been there for me, but he couldn't do it and I understood. He still won't talk to me and pretends I don't exist around mutual friends. My own personal "Jacob" like figure, except I never had mixed feelings on him, showed up and was even a groomsmen for my husband despite the fact that he didn't want me to marry someone else. He went to my bachelorette party, hair and make-up and everything. He even came into the room before the wedding and the look on his face when he saw me in a wedding gown made me feel wonderful and horrible at the same time. You could tell he thought I looked amazing, but you could also tell he wished I were dressed that way for him.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 273 comments I have to start re-reading I guess. It's been a while and I'm behind, but I can catch up in less than 2 hours. I'll do my best not to read it in a day. =)

My favorite part is the car! I love everything she learns at the gas station.

message 31: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments It is ok, I started yesterday and already caught up...best way to not read the whole thing is to read another book that is better. That is what I did which I already finished and now I have to find another.

message 32: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments When I got engaged my mom already knew it was going to happen my Fiance has taken her out and shown her the ring, she was still really excited but man it was disappointing not to be telling her big news. My sister knew two. My dad didn't know and he wasn't thrilled at the time but he's happy for me now :) you know how dads are

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

The car part was great. It was so funny that she found out that the car was missile proof.

Angela, yes, it seems that your dad is also staying true to the father expectations. ;) but he meant well. I'm glad it is a good thing now!

The next assignment for Breaking Dawn is chpaters 11 & 12, pages 206 - 243.

message 35: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments He did mean well, I can't remember his exact comment at the time but it really upset Bryan (my fiance)

message 36: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 273 comments I can't stop! I tried to, but I'm already on Ch. 15.

What did you guys think of Edward totally freaking out about the bruises? Do you think he should have kept his mouth shut until she had a chance to say anything? Or, would you have freaked out immediately too?

Also, tell me if I'm going too far here, but shouldn't male vampires know if "things" were to exit their bodies during particular intimate moments? Because if it did, I would have wondered about that - if I were male and a vampire and all. I think someone, like a doctor, would be curious and run some tests just for the heck of it at some point over the years. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think turning into a vampire would make a guy suddenly unaware of that particular body part.

message 37: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Heather...the first question may be a little far...can't really remember.

But who could blame him really...I feel like I would be burning inside if I could not stop the pain that either my boyfriend or someone in my family was going through. I would not be able to keep my mouth shut either. But I rarely keep my mouth shut about things that I feel.

You know I didn't think about the "things", as you like to call them, moving. But I would think they would realize that. Haha especially someone like Emmett.

Some more questions:

5. What do you think of Jacob leaving the pack? What about Seth and Leah joining him?

6. Does this book make you like or dislike Rosalie (more or less)? Especially after the proposition for Bella to drink blood.

message 38: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments 5. I like that Jacob left the pack. Sam was getting a little over his head when Jacob and Seth had to bow to him. Seth, it would have been expected for him to leave especially after befriending the Cullens. Leah, who can blame her. Being the only girl in the pack and everyday watching the person that you love being completely head over heels for someone else.

6. I think I dislike Rosalie more. I started to like her in Eclipse. This one she shows all her shallow selfish side. She doesn't even care about Bella only about what she wants.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Heather.

I def thought that he overreacted. However, if he didn't his character would of been all wrong. I'm surprised he couldn't see how happy Bella was but then again it is all in character.

The other part, I don't think it was that they didn't know about that part of the body. When I read it is more of a science thing. They assumed since they are frozen in time, all of them would be. Including the swimmers. Bc of this they assumed that they were safe besides for Edwards teeth, claws, & strength. Then she got pregnant because her body was bit frozen.

Meghan

It is amazing that Jacob is realizing and assuming his rightful position. Sort of. But it he is taking a position and still defending Bella. I'm not surprised at all that Seth would leave the other pack to help defend the Cullens. Surprised about Leah, then again I completely understand why.

I'm still not a fan of Rose. She is doing what Bella asked for but more so for her benefit. About the blood, that didn't bother me. I figured that out way before Jacob. I was waiting them to finally come to that point. I mean it only makes sense. To me anyway.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Question?

How do you feel about Jacob getting a book? Do you think anyone else should of had a chance to have there point of view in a small book?

My answer. I loved hearing from Jacob. I wish we heard more then just the life around the patrols and Checking on Bella. Like a book in one of the previous books. (I'm around chapter 24.). I think Jasper could of had a small book at this point. Explaining his thoughts and emotions about her change. (I'll say no more since I'm ahead.)

I was trying to be tactful just in case someone was offended.

message 42: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 273 comments I think that Jacob got his own book because Meyers couldn't figure out how write the story from Bella's perspective and still explain the pack issues. Especially since Bella can't exactly hang out in La Push like before. I would love to hear stories from all sides, but not in Breaking Dawn itself. I felt like it was her way of taking the easy way out from the writers perspective. As a reader, I enjoyed it a little, but it also made Jacob sound very whinny at times so it put me off on occasion. Although, internal monologue wise, I think we're probably all whinny when things go wrong in out lives.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sure you are right. Either whinny or depressed. Either way we are no good.

Chapter 13 - 15, pages 244 - 307.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Hello! I knOw that I haven't been on any lately. We're leaving Disney World tomorrow :(.

Anyway, the next assignment (for July 31st) is chapters 16 - 18, pages 308 - 360. I will be answering
all the new questions soon.

Hope everyone is enjoying this book tremendously, and thanks to Elyssa for posting the assn's. When I can't. Happy reading everyone!! :D

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Haha I have been so sick since Tuesday that all I could do was sleep not even eat or drink. I though I was going to be so far behind that I tried to read a few chapters this morning because it is the first morning I actually feel okay enough to eat and to sit up for a little while. But I am actually a little ahead.

message 47: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 273 comments I managed to stop, but I was on Ch. 24 by then.

Do you think Edward intentionally gave Jacob the Aston?

I know the answer to this, but did anyone else just love when Alice and Jacob have their little bonding moment?

message 48: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Hello everyone! Today's assignment is:

BOOK THREE, BELLA! Chapters 19 - 20, pages 361 - 406. Its really hard to look at stuff on my dad's phone, so all the awesome questions that everyone has posted will have to wait just a few more hours. But happy reading to all!! 8]

message 49: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Oh man...Haha Heather I was telling you to stop but since I was sick and on pills to make me sleepy which I stopped taking in the morning (meaning I slept through most of the day yesterday)...I kept reading!!!! Sorry guys I finished early...it is ok though I can still answer questions.

message 50: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 273 comments Granted, this is different from waking up and discovering you're a vampire, but do you think that Meyers was comparing Bella's waking up to that of waking up in a hospital? Loosely at least?
All the sounds and lights, everything's different and loud. Plus, you get that where am I feeling.
