The "Challenge" Challenge [ENDED 12/2010]

Whiny husbands are much worse than whiny kids. And they're much harder to get rid of.
And Judithe, I'm going to disagree with Sandra (sorry!) on Katie MacAlister & especially Mary Janice Davidson--a lot of people consider them Chick-Lit. They're contemporary & humorous, just with paranormal elements added. Paranormal Chick-Lit. :)
Go check out where people have them shelved--there are 111 people who have the 1st Queen Betsy (the Undead series) shelved as Chick-Lit.

I was looking at more people's selections and one put a Charlaine Harris (Sookie) book there. I would never consider that Chick-lit despite my nebulous concept of what it is! Think I'll use the "shelved" category as my main guide! Thanks for the input Sandra and Laura Lulu!

Per Wiki, Chick-Lit is:
Chick lit is genre fiction within women's fiction which addresses issues of modern women often humorously and lightheartedly.
The genre sells well, with chick lit titles topping bestseller lists and the creation of imprints devoted entirely to chick lit.
Although sometimes it includes romantic elements, women's fiction (including chick lit) is generally not considered a direct subcategory of the romance novel genre, because in chick lit the heroine's relationship with her family or friends may be just as important as her romantic relationships.
I would not classify "Sookie" as chick-lit. I do classify some bks as "paranormal chick-lit" though, as Laura mentioned above.

Same! Which is why I have this little problem to start with! LOL
So Steph, what is some good PN chick-lit? Unfortunately, I really don't like the Queen Betsy one (I think that's it...) and couldn't stand to buy a book just for a challenge....any others? Still trying to get ANYTHING @ the library...have an Evanovich in that one for now, and maybe able to get ahold of a Sophie Kinsella one, but not exactly my faves....

So, some series I can recommend would be:
(I've read & liked)
* Jane Jameson by Molly Harper
* Broken Heart, OK by Michele Bardsley
* Southern Witch by Kimberly Frost
* Jane Madison by Mindy Klasky
Some GR friends have liked:
(I haven't read)
* Katie Chandler (Enchanted, Inc) by Shanna Swendon
* Jazz Tremaine by Linda Wisdom
* Dark Ones by Katie MacAlister
* Casa Dracula by Marta Acosta
* Immortality Bites by Michelle Rowen
Hope that helps.

I already feel like I'm up 24/7 I guess I'll just figure out how to do this stuff and sleep @ the same time. Now that's a thought?!?!?

What ever do you mean, I thought you already knew how to do that, what with all the callenges you do....LOL
I was about ready to ask you how you did it????

help...help...I'd rather be reading a novel....
So, just need to remind myself I will feel great relief and satisfaction as soon as this is OVER!

Good luck! And yes, that's a great way to look it. Think of how satisfying it'll be when you're done ... until the next batch. LOL Sorry, couldn't resist.
Ok, now, back to all things "Challenge" Challenge related *wahpsh* <-- that's my whip sound LOL!

My Sunday plans include reading Black Dust Mambo, and making a progress report of everyone's challenge progress (also wanna poke around and see what new things ya've joined....hehehe! )

I've been posting updates in my original post, are we suppose to make a new one?

PS: Hope you like Black Dust Mambo. I loved that!

I've been doing that too (#2), and make a memo of the update date. I've also been deleting pics, etc when finished. Please mark clearly (either before or after the challenge name) when you completed it. (And don't delete that out later LOL!) I'd also love to see the number of books you read for it too!

I haven't been deleting pics as I'm only adding them after I read the book.

I usually post my pics when I make up challenge lists as it makes it "easier" to spot which challenge to cross off...so here, I'm deleting the pics so it's easier for me to see which I've completed. That is, however, just my personal preference, not a requirement.
Do what you like best!

Yeah, I usually post picks on the individual challenges, but I also usually change my mind on some of the titles, which was why I was waiting in this challenge. It made sense to me at the time anyway. :)
