Stacie H. (staciemh) | 75 comments Did anyone watch the premire of The Gates the other night, if so what did you think of it?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't but I thought that it looked fake.

message 3: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea I missed it

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I did too but it looked fake.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

A show about vampires, werewolves and witches, and it looks fake?

Shocker!

message 6: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments This is on ABC. Channel 7, probably. You can catch it online too. I saw the premiere, and I like it so far! There's more than one storyline. I'm really interested to see next week's episode, especially about the werewolves! Got to love those wolfies.

Kinda what I was thinking lol

message 8: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments It will be interesting to see if the series catches on. Don't know if it will be too confusing with all the supernatural things going on..

message 9: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn (lady2themax) | 109 comments Stacie wrote: "Did anyone watch the premire of The Gates the other night, if so what did you think of it?"

I watched it and thought it was okay. It could go one of two ways as far as I'm thinking, it could turn out to be really good or it's going to be really silly...

message 10: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments I wonder if it will turn out to be silly but like the cheesy kind of silly but think they are being serious.
Know what I mean?

message 11: by new_user (last edited Jun 26, 2010 09:47PM) (new)

new_user | 1389 comments LOL. It's not really silly. It reminds me a lot of Housewives with supernatural creatures and murder. Why don't you guys just watch it instead of wondering? LOL.

It's on tomorrow night. Anyone planning to watch? I'm looking forward to it!

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments I've heard of that description before and I guess it does fit.

I am recording it tomorrow and will watch it probably Monday. Have to see my True Blood on Sunday..

message 13: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Oh yeah, planning to watch that too. :D

message 14: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlopez1283) | 116 comments i saw the first episode and i am planing on seeing the 2nd one tonight, i thought it seemed interesting but i could do without the teenage storyline, that gets me thinking of the vamp diaries on cw and i didnt really care for that one. now that i think was cheesy =o)

message 15: by Jesse (new)

Jesse (Jessep) | 119 comments I watched the premiere and am planning to watch tonight. It's filmed in my hometown and I have a friend who works camera on the show sometimes so that's how I heard about it. It interested me enough to keep watching. I find that TV series take a while to really get off the ground, so I'm willing to give some slack in the beginning.

message 16: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments I saw the second ep. The teenagers are more the familiar kind than in Vampire Diaries, don't worry, Jennifer (although I do like TVD). ;) Well, as familiar as supernatural teens can be. I'm enjoying that plotline though.

MILD SPOILERS

Lucas with his dad, and Brett. Devon seems suitably treacherous, I'm liking Nick Monohan, and that scene with Dylan Radcliff when Emily goes to school... rawr, LOL. I don't usually like blonds, but I'll make an exception. Poor Claire too. She just keeps messing up by not asking hubby for help.

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments I save my Sunday's for True Blood, but I've recorded both episodes of The Gates. I thought it was ok (first episode). I'm guessing it's a community for supernaturals to kind of keep them out of the mainstream? I'll give it a couple more tries and see if it grows on me.

message 18: by ~~*Julie (new)

~~*Julie Kawalec-pearson (jewel77) | 66 comments I thought it was ok-- I am waiting to see what happens. Everyone is jumping ont he paranomrmal band wagon! Has anyone caught the new one persons unknown?? Creepy or Happy Town? I totally didn't get that one and stopped watching.

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments ABC has done summer mini series for the past couple years now. The first year they did Kingdom Hospital by Stephen King, last year they made Harpers Island and this year it's Happy Town. I like the summer series they do!

message 20: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I loved Harper's Island!

message 21: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments Jen, that's what I do on Sundays, record TrueBlood and The Gates. New user, wow I am totally in awe that you remembered all those names!! That is really paying attention..

message 22: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments The first episode was interesting enough. I plan to watch the second later this week. I'm not really sure what the overall plot they are trying to accomplish is thought. Harper's Island was great!

Ashley Hollingsworth | 8 comments Kingdom Hospital... That was fun :)

Ive been watching the gates, midly enjoyale. Will keep giving it a chance of course. A lot of supernatural activity which is good :)

message 24: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Symko (csymko) | 16 comments I watched last night and recorded it both. Not too bad. Did not see the first episode so I will have to go online to see it. Look forward to seeing a few more episodes to make sure it will keep growing on me.

message 25: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments LOL, Heather! I'm not that good. I get a few reminders from IMDB. ;)

I've never seen any of these other shows, LOL. The aspect of this show that I like is the paranormals as the main cast and "heroes." There have been other shows like that, but they're more in fun, like Being Human. Either that, or they hardly show the paranormal aspect. So I kind of like that this show is pursuing it more seriously and isn't shy on showing the paranormal side.

Also, I don't want to spoil anything, Jen, but you kind of see in the last episode that the community isn't really designed for supernaturals. At least it doesn't seem that way. It's early to tell.

message 26: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments New_user - a girl after my own heart! I don't think I could live without IMDB!

Haven't seen the latest ep of The Gates but will watch it soon. Interesting observation regarding the coummunity. I can't believe that no one is aware of supernaturals..

message 27: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments I think I will at least watch season 1. I like the seriousness because without it it would be silly. I just wish there was a little more insight on the overall plot. There are just 2 episodes currently, correct?

message 28: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I didn't watch it but you girls have got my interest up. So I went to set it up on my dvr and they're showing the pilot again this weekend. Sweet. :)

message 29: by Daniele (new)

Daniele Lanzarotta (danielelanzarotta) | 29 comments Stacie wrote: "Did anyone watch the premire of The Gates the other night, if so what did you think of it?"

I'm not quite sure what to think of it yet, but it was better than I anticipated.

message 30: by new_user (last edited Jun 30, 2010 04:35PM) (new)

new_user | 1389 comments LOL, Heather, it's great resource, isn't it? I think they're setting it up so that all kinds of supernaturals have been living among humans for some time, but something attracts them to The Gates. Still a mystery what.

Yup, Lenore, 2 eps. It was better than I expected too, Daniele. When I first saw it, I was like, Housewives again, no! But it's less house drama, more mystery. Can't wait to hear what you think, Laura!

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Watched ep 2 last night, it kept my interest so I'll keep on watching it. I still think this community was created for the supernatural.....

message 32: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (bookmoodreviews) | 511 comments I couldn't get into it. It might have had something to do with the fact I just finished watchign episode 3 of True Blood

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments LOL Gem, yea, nothing comes close to True Blood.

message 34: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (bookmoodreviews) | 511 comments Gosh the ending of episode 3!!!!

And I must admit I kind of like Alcide too!!!

*Whispers* Sssh! I live in the UK and have resorted to sneaky measures to watch True Blood!

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Hey, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to get her Eric Northman fix!!

message 36: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (bookmoodreviews) | 511 comments *nods head*

And I hear that he is starring in a film based on the board game Battleship

*Mind starts wandering at "Eric" in a naval uniform and all the double entendre's related to ships.*

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Alex Skarsgard could wear a clown costume (I hate clowns) and I'd still find him sexy.

message 38: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Symko (csymko) | 16 comments Jen wrote: "Alex Skarsgard could wear a clown costume (I hate clowns) and I'd still find him sexy."

Jen-I am right there with you on that one about Alex Skarsgard. He is definitely a hottie....He is one of the main reasons I watch True Blood. I love the story but he makes it!!

Don't worry Gem H. I live in the US and still resort to sneaky measures to watch it...but it's worth it =D

message 40: by Kristin (new)

Kristin | 89 comments People keep asking me if I am watching, I guess because I am a True Blood fan?

I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

And SB....I seriously cracked up at this --->

message 41: by Jessie (new)

Jessie | 128 comments I watched the pilot last night since it was repeated on Sunday and I had forgot to set up the DVR before hand. I think it has potential, though they tried to cram too much into the first episode I thoght. I kept going...HUH?

Ashley Hollingsworth | 8 comments Jessie wrote: "I watched the pilot last night since it was repeated on Sunday and I had forgot to set up the DVR before hand. I think it has potential, though they tried to cram too much into the first episode I..."

It did seem rushed. I'm liking the show okay, going to keep trying it out

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Is anyone else still watching this? I'm liking it the more the show goes on. Definitley interested in seeing what happens next.

message 44: by Daniele (new)

Daniele Lanzarotta (danielelanzarotta) | 29 comments I've been watching it. I wasn't sure about it at first but it got really good!

message 45: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments I'm liking it! I missed this week's ep, but I'm going to check it out online!

message 46: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sandram1967) | 71 comments I'm enjoying it.

message 47: by Laura (new)

Laura I wasn't really impressed with the show at first, but it has gotten really good. The last episode was especially good! I love Dylan and Claire! :-)

message 48: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 2 comments I watch it, and I like it. It's very Desperate Housewives with vamps, wares, and witches. There is lots of gossip, drama, and secrets. I am likeing that they are finally starting to spill some of the secrets. I am still trying to figure out what the girls is that has the thing on her back, she seems to not have anyone in the community like her. I think the show has potential to be good, but I am wondering how long it can last with everyone already so hostile in the first few episodes. I too love Dylan and Claire!

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Dylan and Claire are my favorite too but I've been a Luke Mably fan since The Prince and Me. :) I feel so bad for Charlie and Andie and can't wait to see where their storyline goes.

message 50: by LilaBird (new)

LilaBird | 52 comments Charlie and Andie are so cute, but also feel so bad for them. I'm really starting to like this show. I think it's the kind of show that just takes a while to get going, ya know? It definitely needed 3-5 episodes before I decided that I was really willing to commit. I totally agree that it's a paranormal Desperate Housewives, which could be a bad thing, but for now I'm okay with. ;)
