Another one from my dad's library trips. Read circa 2005. A young woman escapes a serial killer and is hospitalised. She has selective amnesia, befriends the detective I think. I remember her going home and thinking about her head fetish while bathing, because this resonated with a sixteen year old.

Also, at the end she cornered the killer in a stable and gouged his eyes out. With her thumbs, I believe
