Right now I'm reading City of Ashes. Once I finish City of Glass I think I'll read Prince of Thorns. I am desperately trying to whittle down my TBR list before buying anything else.

Chelsea I did receive an ARC. This is my first by this author, I am enjoying how she introduces her fantasy world.

Oh, no I got it through netgalley -- but I am going to buy this one anyway -- I agree completely. I bought the first and second in her debut series, I just haven't read them yet. :)
The first one is pretty good, but the second is much, much better. It actually made me cry!
Finishing Mistborn with The Hero of Ages. The first two didn't live up to my memory but the third has made up for it so far.

Just finished The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen a good novel in the "Magical realism" style that fantasy lovers would like too!I just started The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey

I've been meaning to get around to her other books; I read The Girl Who Chased the Moon a short time ago and absolutely loved it!
I'm not reading any fantasy or sci-fi novel at the moment (still deciding which from my to-read pile I should read next =P) but in the meantime I'm reading Nicole Galland's Revenge of the Rose which is pretty fantastic so far.
Both Garden Spells and Garden Spells were very good reads! I am looking forward to reading all of Sarah Addison Allens books.I think many Fantasy aficionados would appreicate her writing. I loved the fairy tale elements in Sugar Queen in Sugar Queen.
I am having trouble putting down The Killing Moon the beginning was slow but now, I am at 40%, it is getting really good.
Finished The Automatic Detective which I enjoyed a great deal, and having fun with in my review. Now on to The Pinhoe Egg, a random library find.
I'm very close to finishing The Hours (second-to-last book for Uni.) Next, I'm thinking of finally completing the series and reading Inheritance. It's either that or The Office of Shadow. :)
Alice, what about Monster Hunter is boring? I had planned to start that sometime this month.
Thanks Alice. I bought it from audible when it was onsale for $4.95. I will give it a shot.
Just a matter of taste. I loved it. I found the characters well done, there's lots of humor and some of us like the firearms and other descriptions. Try it yourself and see what you think. It has a lot of fans here and I'm sure there are just as many who don't care for it.
Mike, the fans and feedback for the book in this group is what spurred me on to buying it. I will definitely give the book a fair shake.
Decided on The Office of Shadow because it's a smaller book and easy to transport from home to Uni :D I will start Inheritance in my holidays : )
Started The Gunslinger for my 5th time through, re-reading the series so I can read The Wind Through the Keyhole in its proper spot.
Finished The Hero of Ages which I found amazing and will start The Alloy of Law again while the Mistborn trilogy is still fresh.
Having a go at Lorna Suzuki's Imago and Dream Merchant series (latest in a recent Indie frenzy-read), while I await the arrival of Hobb's latest Rain Wild Chronicles book at my door: City of Dragons. Looking forward to some scaly goodness there (while hoping it doesn't suffer from middle book woes), and I have to say Suzuki's humor's tiding me over well enough in the meanwhile.
I was watching some of Brandon Sanderson's writing classes on Youtube, and I have learned a lot. I will definitely need to finally read one of his books. I'm staring at Mistborn on my bookshelf right now!

Bought a copy of A Dance With Dragons and realised i couldn't remember the events in the previous book. Went back to my shelf only to realise that somehow i had forgotten to buy and read A Feast for Crows...Doh! I guess i'll have to stop and read that one first then.

So far I'm having trouble getting into the book, but I'm continuing reading to see if it gets better.

I'm currently reading A Game of Thrones It's really well written and I'm enjoying it.. to the extent that it has me on the edge of my seat wondering why all the good characters are having bad things happen to them :( There's one character's chapters that I don't want to read because I like them and I don't want the bad things to happen to them :S

Just started reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and Conan: An Anthology of Robert E. Howard’s Most Famous Conan Tales because I've never read all of the original Conan the Barbarian/Cimmerian tales, and I really do love vintage and pulp scifi/sword&board fantasy.
I am half way through The Fire Rose and at one point almost considered stopping. I'd heard so much about Mercedes Lackey and from the descriptions her style seemed exactly like the type of fantasy I would like (my favourites are Charles De Lint Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs...). I do like many aspects of her writing. What I don't like are her detailed descriptions of spells, and magik. I don't know why but they bore me! I love magic in novels, that is why I like fantasy fiction but more in the sense of magical occurrences or magical creatures. The way it is depicted this novel as well as The Serpents Shadow, the only other novel from her I’ve read is very tiresome! I am wondering if all her novels are this way.

Sad to say but that is not her best work. It's gotten sloppy lately (and I'm a fan).
FOr a good intro to Mercedes Lackey I would try some of her older stuff or some of her more "epic" works.

Another great series is the Last Herald Mage: The Last Herald-Mage.

Thanks Sharon and MrsJoseph! Yes, plan on reading those ones! Ever order books from the library and because there is a long cue for them, you order other ones as well, but then they all come at the same time? That is what happened to me!

Just received Palimpsest and The Way of Kings from the library, so I'm all set for the monthly reads!
Today I am reading The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo.I haven't read any of his work, but I saw some good reviews about this book and thought I would give it a chance. Has anyone read his work or this book before?

Even though all the occult was boring for me, I did like the female character, the way Lackey depicted San Francisco in the early 1900's, as well as the Beauty and the Beast elements. However the ending is disappointing. I feel if you are going to retell a fairy tale you might as well go all the way. I would give this book 2 and a half stars.

I am currently reading Issac Asimov's The End of Eternity. It's actually my first Asimov book (never got around to reading his works until now) and it's pretty interesting so far, especially the concept of Eternity and such.
I'm currently reading Warbreaker, as part of my recent Sanderson binge. I read Elantris last fall while trying to catch up on group reads, then Mistborn earlier this year.Still waiting for the ebook of Snuff to come down to a reasonable price.
Finally all of my uni books are finished!! I'm almost half way through Hood. I like it so far. I love the Robin Hood legends, but I haven't read any other versions other than the original. It's very different but well written :)
Just finished ]Rosemary and Rue and thought it was okay...I am not in a rush to read the next one. Maybe it is just this type of Urban Fantasy, Murder Mysteries with supernatural characters that I am getting tired of.On the subject of Robin Hood,the next book I am looking forward to starting is Robin McKinley's The Outlaws of Sherwood

For my personal personal reading pleasure, I'm going back and rereading C.J. Cherryh's latest in the Foreigner Universe Intruder. What I particular like about this series, as a long time sci-fi and fantasy fan, is that it can toggle back and forth between or combine those genres. When they are planetside, not very technologically heavy, etc. it can be very submersive to me as an alien fantasy story.

And finished Hood. I'm now reading The Magicians' Guild :)

I just finished The Clan of the Cave Bear and I loved it but hated the ending. I hated it, it caused me emotional pain!
