You're right. Most of those books are fantasy, Regina.

Agreed.
I also love the rest of her work. I haven't read anything by her that I wouldn't be willing to recommend.
I just loved the way she wrote Kindred! It really was amazing. I literally just seconds ago downloaded Parable of the Sower. I am late to join a group read in another group, but I cannot wait to start it.
Just finished Rivers of London which i read in just two days and was a riot.Contemplating starting Nightchild but haven't been enthused by the blurb on the back. Odd because i read parts one and two of the trilogy and enjoyed them...
Just wondering if i can leave this trilogy hanging?
Tyrone, I feel your pain. Isn't that hard, to leave a series hanging? Even though there's a couple series I don't really care for anymore (Sookie, anyone??), I keep reading.

Rivers of London was so refreshing and funny. I really liked it.
I keep reading Sookie...even though I have hated the last few books. I think this last one finally made me want to quit. The Dark Elf series is getting there.I finally finished with Malazan and started my Tolkien read. (but I really want to start Gardens of the Moon again.)
I'm reading Demon Dark by Penelope Fletcher. Almost done though so I'm deciding if I should read LOTR the Two Towers or the Name of the Wind. Hmmm.
I am back to slugging my way thru Wise Man's Fear. I am past the half way mark but just barely. I loved Name of the Wind. I wish I could love this one too.
Lizzy wrote: "Oh, dear. I loved Name of the Wind, and I've just requested the Wise Man's Fear...is it that bad?"Its not bad. Its just I am in a really boring patch in the middle. I have heard it gets better.
Lizzy, I'm probably a bit in the minority but I only mildly liked The Name of the Wind (my review if you're interested: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...). I liked The Wise Man's Fear even less, bordering on dislike at times (again my review if you're interested: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) (by the way, I won't be hurt if you don't read my reviews, LOL. Just put them there as information.)A lot's going to depend on your own taste.
It's not bad. Just boring. Imo. There are many who disagree. I'll still be buying the third book the day it's released. So you know I didn't hate it.
Anyone remember the The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams? Came out in 1988 and is 672 pages of great story AND is the first of a trilogy. I read it when it first came out and STILL think about it to this day.If you haven't at least looked at it, do so. It's worth the time.

I remember enjoying it more than most of Tad's fiction.
Pushed through Prince of Thorns and now will go back and re-read Daughter of Smoke and Bone so I can finish a review before it's due back at the library.

I'm going to re-read that book and try to finish the series this year.
Carol wrote: "MrsJ, still working out my review. But http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/..."Ahhhhh! Thanks! I officially have no interest, lol. Not much into violence and gore...
So I finished my other book and now I'm on to The Name of the Wind, I'm already intrigued and I'm only 10% into it...and it's 2 in the morning. Must.Not.Stop.Reading.
hahahaha
I'm currently readng You Shall Never Know Security by J. R. Hamantaschen and I'm being blown away. These stories are very dark and intelligent. They are also full of raw emotion. There's other books I want to read at the same time, but I can't stop reading this one. Review to come.
Well, I've just finished the Night Circus. Good stuff. I'm about to get started on Neil Gaiman's Stardust and the Wise Man's Fear.

and am finding it a great read. Many parts are very disturbing, the disintegration of the world is not sugar coated in any way -- so there is quite a bit of pain and suffering and sadness, but there is hope too.
I am currently reading "The Well of Ascention" - 2nd book in the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. Fantastic book and fantastic series!
Good to hear. I really enjoyed your review. I am still writing mine. I am now reading: Heat Stroke by Rachel Caine

I loved that series! I really loved how realistic Butler made everything sound. By the end I felt that the series really stayed with me.
Another that I loved was [book:Lilith's Brood.
Thanks Lady D! :)Mrs.Joseph -- there are just two in the series, right? I was having trouble finding info on GR.
Lilith's blood looks so good! Thank you.
Reading World Without End, which is a book that I just bought that I wanted to read over a year after finishing Pillar of the Earth. So I gave up in reading Armor and A Fire Upon the Deep.
Started The Two Towers. I can't believe how I merged LotR books and movies together in my thoughts. They are actually quite different.
Run off polls are up for February monthly reads. I didn't want to send out any more mass emails, but sometimes polls are hard to find, so here's a reminder. :) Really interesting choices.
I love The Color of Magic :)Started The Return of the King. And then maybe on to The Children of Húrin. Maybe. I think I'm getting burned out on Tolkien.
Just finished Paladin of Souls which was really amazing. I think I might have to re-read it before I return it to the library. Meanwhile, I have The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making lined up.
200 pages into Mistborn and its a slow build. I can see with the characters and magic that a lot of set up is needed. Hopefully something happens soon though. It reminds me of Elantris a slow build up to a satisfying conclusion.
I'm well into The Alloy of Law and I like it better than anything else I've read by Sanderson (And it's a Mistborn novel that takes place in a later time, sort of a semi urban fantasy.)
To add to the Sanderson chain, I finished The Well of Ascension last night - wow, some real twists in there. Gonna grab the third one from the library this week.Started The Historian. I'm only 50 pages in but I'm not terribly impressed so far.
