I adored the second Mercy book, it was solid fun with juicy guts hence my readiness to jump back in and read the third, I couldnt wait anymore.
I enjoyed them so much I read the series in a couple weeks. Couldn't read them fast enough. I love kick ass women. Patricia Briggs takes Mercy through an amazing journey.
Eileen I think Mercy is among if not the best female UF character I've read so far. I've enjoyed the series more and more as it's progressed. :)

I think the original (IV) would be fun to watch with a friend who's seen it and a couple of mixed drinks--it seems so campy this many years later. Wouldn't even come close to stopping and rewinding. P.S. Laurel--I haven't seen Casablanca straight through OR Gone with the Wind. *runs and hides*
Eileen, don't bother. The prequels are far too dry to even be considered campy fun. And JarJar is just all kinds of retarded.

You can do buddy watches on Netflix using your 360 and chat the whole time. Now we just need to make Tracey a gamer :) See Tracey, buying yourself a Xbox 360 is just a way to get Ala to watch Casablanca.

Yup, you do, Ala...I think it's only like 6 bucks a month for the straight Netflix streaming option. I get together with buds once a month or so and we get an Xbox live party together and watch really bad horror movies on Netflix and go all Mystery Science Theater 3000 on em. Good times :)

What a delightful story about a great movie. I think most of can Identify with the situation.
@Grant - I cannot believe I've finally encountered someone who's not seen Star Wars. I'm a Star Wars Trekkie, seen the movies a million times and read the entire extended universe. I will be curious what you think of the 1st trilogy after all these years. Try to remember it was made over 30 years ago. Try to place yourself in the late 70's, early '80's. I consider episode III the most adult and significant of the 6 movies, so suggest you the do the 2nd trilogy, even though...

Just finished Gaiman's The Graveyard Book and it was awesome! Not as good American Gods but still awesome :)If anyone has not read it, do try it.
Kernos, I'm a big fan of western and noir movies so watching something "dated" doesn't bother me a bit. I'm going to watch it tonight actually so I'll let yall know what I think tomorrow :)

As much as I've enjoyed going back and re-visiting Lackey's Valdemar books/series I think I'm going to have to look for the Gates to Witch World.
I've read all of the Mercy Thomas series. Fun read, although not one I kept to re-read. Honestly, with the proliferation of the "kick-ass" urban fantasy with strong female characters ... I tend to get confused. I like them, but too many of them are too much alike.Besides Briggs' series, there is Kat Richardson's Greywalker series, C. E. Murphy's "Urban Shaman" series, Tanya Huff's "Blood" series. I have to say that my favorite in this specific 'type' is still the first one I read ... the first two books in Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde series (the third one you can forget).

Here's hoping the author is back on his feet and able to pick the series back up. They really are great reads!

If I remember correctly, he posted on his website that he was having some issues with depression, but was seeking treatment. It's why the two sequels have been delayed.
Naw he's just slow as sin. He still has three more books to write in the Gentleman Bastard series. *sigh*

Awesome, I was hoping to start a buddy read soon! I'm really enjoying this book so far. The dialogue is pretty terrific and the first few chapters had me cracking up constantly.
Amanda, you can see what the group through of the book as it was a book of the month back in February.
I saw a reasonably priced copy of Casablanca the other day. I think I'll pick it up and give the movie a second try :)
So I just finished watching Star Wars for the first time. I suppose I should be more exact and say I just watched Star Wars Episode IV for the first time. Sooooooo....*grins* it was pretty cool.
I gotta say that seeing In a Galaxy far away scrolling at the beginning was pretty trippy. I've seen the same effect ripped off so many times that seeing the original was kinda neat :) Luke seemed kinda wimpy but Han Solo was right up my alley. I can see where they might have ripped off a bit of Mal from him in Firefly. I've always been a Huge Indiana Jones fan but I can see where Han Solo could rank pretty high too. I dug R2D2, didn't really care much for the golden robot and still can't see Leia as being hot. Oh and it Sucks that Obi Wan died! I figured he'd be around at Least one more movie. Or did he die? I wasn't real sure with the way the scene was shot. And where was Yoda?! Ah well, overall I thought it was cool. I can see where it would have seemed amazering when it was released :) Oh....and it seemed kinda silly that they'd have like one glaring spot that could destroy the whole planet destroying orb/ship thing...I'm just saying. Anyways, yall can rest easy knowing that I'm no longer a virgin :) I may even watch the sequel someday!
