I just started Sweet Silver Blues by Glen Cook, and I'm really liking it. Noir detective meets faery with borderline corny humor. It's working for me.

Garret Files have always been my favorite series by Glenn Cook. They're a bit hit or miss but highly enjoyable overall
I just finished Mockingjay. I thought this was a good series especially for younger readers. I'm sure I'll have my kids read it when they get a little older. Now I'm going to start American Gods.
Tracey wrote: "I always enjoyed Garrett; that's why I have high hopes for Black Company. Too high? We wonders, yes, we wonders."Me, too. I'll find out more once I get a map to get me the hell out of confused-ville.
The map would just confuse you. Just pick a direction and keep walking.
I'll leave you a trail of breadcrumbs.
They'll just go in a giant circle, but at least you'll have something to eat as you wander.

St Don is the patron saint of treading.
Free snacks from a stranger aren't really from a stranger if the stranger's a saint, right? (Which of course extends to priests as well.)
We'll just bring out the tequila. If the snacks are poisoned, Saint or not it can still happen!, then the booze will burn it the poison all away, and we'll all be pleasantly plump with cheeky little grins on our faces.Hmmm...am I sounding like a drunk yet? LOL
Have just finished reading Firethorn by Sarah Micklem. What a delightful read! It's a swashbuckler and romance all rolled into one. Very creative! I highly recommend this entertaining fantasy - a story the author was either writing or carrying in her creative mind for years. Do read it.

Not only do you sound drunk, you sound like Homer Simpson XD
Just finished The Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb. First one of hers I've read and I enjoyed it. Now, I've started Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr.
Every good swashbuckler needs some rum! We can just add that to the tequila. :) It's all for medicinal purposes...
Cheryl wrote: "Just finished The Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb. First one of hers I've read and I enjoyed it. Now, I've started Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr."You really should go back and start with Assassin's Apprentice.

Yes, I realize now that the world depicted in the Dragon Keeper is actually built on Robin Hobbs' earlier series. So, I'm definitely going to go back and read those.
Rusty wrote: "Ah, I have Robin Hobb on my TBR list. I'll put The Dragon Keeper on my list."Even without reading the earlier series, Rusty, this one is standalone enough that I had no trouble getting into the story. I think you'll like it.

well, you could be trying to read black company and malazan at the same time....maybe throw in some tolkien or something...that would be worse!

Who needs drugs when you can read confusing books? "Officer, I'm not high, I've just been reading..." :)
Also, I've added the Malazan & Black Company books to my TBR. I currently have a substantial stack from the library so it might be a while before I start them but they sound interesting.
Ack! I'm probably the only one on here who hasn't read any of the Malazan series! I'll have to start adding them to my overflowing TBR pile.
Cheryl wrote: "Ack! I'm probably the only one on here who hasn't read any of the Malazan series! I'll have to start adding them to my overflowing TBR pile."Nope, add me to your list. :-)
mark wrote: "just started Kushiel's Dart. it is really absorbing."I love that series! I hope you enjoy it.
I keep thinking about starting Kushiels Dart. And I keep going "nah, let's read this other book instead".
Glad to see you're back from the shadows, Sonja ;)
If I ever get filthy stinking rich I'm going to hire you all as professional friends and make you read full time with me. Though there will be ye random sojourns to foreign countries for extreme sporting activities :)

Okay, now I can join the ranks of the Malazan readers! I just went out and bought Gardens of the Moon. And, I also purchased Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb.
Great buys, Cheryl :) Lol...polar opposites but great buys!

That'd be a great job! ;-) Do we get free books?

Grant wrote: "Great buys, Cheryl :) Lol...polar opposites but great buys!"You are right about that. One book easy, fun, likable to read, while the other hard, not fun to read.

LOL! Which one is which?

Thanks, Grant, it's good to be back!
Hilariously enough, I'm back more regularly because I don't have much to do at work as opposed to the shopping I had to do for the new job previously, which required being away from the internet... lol. Go figure.
I would happily be a full-time reader, even better if there was travel attached to the job. :)
