AH | 123 comments What makes Goodreads great is the variety of opinions out there on each book. You are not strange if you loved books that others didn't. That is your taste. It really makes the dialogue better when people have different points of views.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments Nah, not strange, everyone like different books, and I am sure that you are not the only one who likes those books

Her little Pirate series is amazing so I'm just confounded as to why I don't like her Immortals series. It just felt weird for her. *shrug* So sad.

I've only read the first two books in this series so far and liked both but I've heard others say the first book is the weakest in the series, so you might want to try book 2 before you give the entire series up.

Cona Hartwig | 49 comments I have to say I am not an Anita Blake series fan. They just got so repetitive I just couldn't stand reading anymore. ....I have a friend that is totally in love with that series and can't understand why I don't.

On the LKH question about "what happened". According to my daughter (who is the researcher in the family) about the time that book 7 came out, LKH divorced her husband and started the dating scene. She was also supposed to have been wanting to write Erotica but had been being held back--don't know who by, but that's what I read on another list.

Personally I have no problem with her writing erotica--I'm not going to buy it, but if that's what she wants to write, she should. She just should not have taken that dive with an already established series that was NOT erotica. The Merry Gentry books started as erotica and are still erotica, and no one complains about that. Its the Anita Blake books that they complain bitterly about, because many of us feel that we were betrayed when she suddenly had Anita do a complete 180.

I read book 1 years ago and didn't like it enough to continue on with the series. Then I read some short stories last year and was impressed enough to search them out. I found book 4 first and loved it, then read book 3 which was pretty good and then 5, 6, 7 which were all great. Finally found book 2 and it was just ok.

My advice is to skip to book 3 or 4 and start from there.

*Mrs. Brightside* I didnt really like blue moon and shadowland. I hope dark flame is better!

message 110: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments Read the 1st (Book 1/2) VD book set and couldn't believe the ending so I didn't want to read the 2nd set (Book 3/4). I also red City of Bones and just can't make myself continue the series. And again it was the ending that killed it for me..

Oh now that makes sense. and I agree about the books!

message 112: by Lora (new)

Lora Savchova (lorasavchova) | 313 comments I would say that the worse series I've read are the House of Night books. They started out okay though the main character got on my nerves with every single thought she had but after a white it just got nerve-wrecking. Seriously, that last one I read was almost a torture but since I'm not a person who stops reading a series once I've started it, I'm stuck with Zoe's stupid life. Thank God, the last ones were really short...
I have to say, the only book that I've ever stopped reading for good, is The Hollow. That was the most idiotic book I've ever read. I kept thinking something will happen and when I got to the middle of the 500-something book and STILL nothing was happening I just said enough. I know there's a second book coming out so I consider it a series but I don't recommend it to anyone.

Mairead | 164 comments the Knife of never letting go by Patrick Ness is without a doubt the worst book I've ever owned. He ahs no grasp of grammer and puctuation. I stopped reading after the 13th page, I was so frustrated, and I can't understand why it got so many awards and great reviews, it sucks more than......well, Viley Virus! :P

Marilyn (lady2themax) | 109 comments Danielle wrote: "For me it was black dagger brotherhood."

You didn't like BDB?

message 115: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments oh, and strange angels really annoyed me. I got such a headache reading that book. Graves was it's saving (and only) Grace. The rest can go to hell!

message 116: by Kimber (new)

Kimber | 5 comments The worst book/s I've read so far has to be L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries it was just poor on all levels also her Dark Visions book was horrendous!

Marilyn (lady2themax) | 109 comments Kimber wrote: "The worst book/s I've read so far has to be L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries it was just poor on all levels also her Dark Visions book was horrendous!"

OMG...I agree! I read the VD and thought they were written for middle school students....

message 118: by Kimber (new)

Kimber | 5 comments For sure they were so terribly written but at least the show is salvageable Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are motivating

message 119: by [deleted user] (new)

Ian Somerhalder could read the phone book and I'd watch, he's so fine.

message 120: by Kimber (new)

Kimber | 5 comments Oh yes Ian Somerhalder gets it done, he is my Bones in the NightHuntress series

message 121: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) Jen wrote: "I gave up on the VD's when it was announced vampires don't have sex. Really? Lame.
The only YA series I think I enjoyed was the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead."

WHAT?
It almost sounds like an oxymoron!

Vampires that don't have sex! That's an outrage!

message 122: by Amber (new)

Amber (crazyaboutbooks) | 27 comments I would have to say I didn't like In The Forest Of Hands And Teeth by Carrie Ryan and haven't shown any interest in wanting to read the second one either.

message 123: by Puggy02 (new)

Puggy02 | 2 comments I was pretty disappointed with Tairen Souls series as I had heard such good things about it. By the 4th book I want to smack around Ellysetta for being so whinny still. The author seems to drag the geographical descriptions a little too much as well for my liking. Have decided to now only read the dialog of the characters so my reading will move along faster and I don't need to read more on the self-wollowing of Ellie.

When I heard they were doing a show based on the books I just cringed! lol! But, I thought maybe it will be better so I watched it, and it is better thank goodness!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments I haven't watched the show, I am tempted, but TBH I just forget that it is on!

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Ian Somerholder is wonderful. Enough said. ;)

message 127: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments Ian Somerhalder is a Third Degree Burns kind of hot! Plus, he's hilarious, which is always a plus. I didn't mind the VD books, but the TV series is one of the best I've seen in a while. The finale was phenomenol.
Yeah, the Forest of Hands and Teeth is weird. I didn't like it the first time I read it, liked it better the second time, but still, it's not brilliant. The sequel is better, but not by much and Gabrielle is just as infuriating as Mary!

The VampDiaries finale was excellent! I shrieked thru the last five minutes of it

message 129: by Amber (new)

Amber (crazyaboutbooks) | 27 comments I totaly agree with the hottness of Ian Somerhalder in VD. I'll make a note of that mairead and try to read it again some other time. It really buges me because it's the only book i've not been able to finish in a long long time ;(

message 130: by Rayna (new)

Rayna 2 series that i would like to burn my books - and i thought i would never say that- would be the vamp diaries and the evermore series!!!! blech!

I loved those books Puggy - yes Ellysetta is a little whiney in the beginning, but they were so good!

message 132: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments The first evermore was okay, nothing fantatic, and I just can't be bothered to read the rest. If Damon drinks blod, and lives forever, how is he not a vampire? I don't ike Vague things. Plus Ever is a biatch!
Pretties annpoyed me when I read it first, because of the stupid Slang language, but Uglies was actually pretty good, so I'm confused.

message 133: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments You might not like TFOHAT, and I don't think I'm gona bother reading the next one. The books are so expensive, and not really worth it to me. Why do bad books get good reviews?! *The road, I'm looking at you!*

message 134: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Suzanne wrote: "I disliked the second book the most in the Twilight series, I just found the last book boring, i was expecting a fight but all they did was chat!"

Jacob was my favorite so I loved the 2nd book and the portion of Breaking Down that focused on him.

message 135: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments New moon was my least favourite. Eclipse was the best

message 136: by Kimber (new)

Kimber | 5 comments Meh Eclipse was the best of the books Breaking Dawn however was just a hot mess but hey to each his own I say

message 137: by Jen ~The dreamer~ (new)

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Eclipse was my favorite book out of the Twilight books as well. The rest weren't so great.

message 138: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 164 comments I liked Eclipse and Twilight best. The other two just...missed something. Although Bree Tanner is actually prett cool too, and decidedly less indecisive than Bella.

message 139: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments Smut, hmm, that's all you would want Ian to do, hold the phone?? Eh?? Really? Hmmm...

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, if I was in the same room with him.... yeah that phone book would have to go!

It's odd, I thought he was cute enough on Lost, but I didn't just drool over him. But as Damon.... yee gods that man is hot, or as my dear Lafayette would say, that boy is sex on a stick.

message 141: by AH (new)

AH | 123 comments In Lost, he was the "little" brother, mooning over his nasty sister. He didn't get to do that eye thing he does in VD. Also he is a couple of years older....must have matured a little....he does get the best lines in VD.

message 142: by Jen ~The dreamer~ (new)

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments He is sex on a stick for sure!!! I love his smirks! "Stop being so smutty".

message 143: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I love ian somerhalder in VD is awesome I think I watch the show just for him.

message 144: by Heather (new)

Heather | 243 comments Samantha, yeah, totally agree with you about watching the series just for him.

Smut, OK, I feel better now that you wouldn't just watch him on the phone..

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments In Lost he had Sawyer to compete with, and well, I am sorry to say, but Sawyer is soooo much more gorgeous then Ian!

I have to say the point that annoyed me the most, although it is somethiing really little, was Renesmee, it is just such a stupid name!! If she wanted to honor both her mother and Esmee, why not just have to names! Grrrr for some reason that really bugged me!

message 146: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 29, 2010 01:05PM) (new)

Yeah, I did HATE the name Reneseme, but it did lead to all the funny "Nessie" moments.

And you're right, no one could compete with Josh Holloway's (Sawyer) hotness. That smile of his was just....mmmm..... and when he had his shirt off oh my.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments That's true, although I would prefer to be called Nessie I think! But I just found the last book very anticlimatic. Eclipse for me is the best I think.

Hosh Holloway *drools* he is the Davidoff adverts as well : P has shirt off and is wet, can a girl ask for more from an advert!

message 148: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I like sawyer but I still think Ian is hotter IMHO.

I did enjoy the first one, second was ok, third was tough to get through, fourth has been painful. Am thinking of reading something else before I finish up the fourth. Maybe absence of the heart will grow fonder?

message 150: by LooLoo (last edited Jun 29, 2010 03:04PM) (new)

LooLoo | 306 comments You all have me worried. I've got several of the series mentioned here sitting in my TBR piles. That will teach me to buy a whole series before reading the first book.

I've read the first HON and thought it was just okay but was really hoping it would improve as it goes, now I'm not so sure.

The #1 worst book for me was Minion (Vampire Huntress Legend, #1) by L.A. Banks and I imagine I would have felt the same way about the whole series but no way was I going to suffer through all the books to find out. It was awful. If you could give a negative number rating here I would have done it for that book.
