I'm guilty... I watched Sassy Pants and now David's Birthday. I wish I could say it was for research, but I'm failing. It's just for fun. Though, I need to stop. Thank you.

Ha. I finally started Irregulars yesterday and am mad at myself for letting it sit on my coffee table for so long before reading it. If I let myself I know I won't put it down, so I'm using it as writing goal rewards today. One chapter for every 1K I write. Lets see how long that lasts.

As for junk mail, I have a table by the door that catches most mail. If its a bill, it goes to my chair in the living room so I have to deal with it or move it to sit down. I just cleaned off the table recently and was opening letters from November! I hate cleaning.

My kitchen table has become the new location for all of my clean laundry. Apparently I'd rather dig through a pile than bother to fold and hang stuff I the closet. Sigh. I do hate looking at big messes like that but don't have time to deal with it.

I have a book to write!

I find it hard to write when in the back of my mind I'm thinking about cleaning the oven or something like that. OK, I have never cleaned the oven, BUT you know what I mean.

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
Since I hate cleaning, I just don't think about it. Though this morning I got the idea to figure out how the self cleaning option works on my oven. I've never cleaned an oven before either and this is the longest I've lived with my appliances. So I'll likely do that this afternoon when I get back from the hardware store.

It's providing me witha good break from writing so I don't fall asleep and don't get anything done.

2400 words and I felt that I could finish Dangerous Ground, just got Old Poison for more incentives. Oh and my shift changed at work, so I should get cracking on writing today.

Susinok | 5205 comments I have cleaned an oven before. It's sometimes necessary if you use it a lot. I normally just spot clean it if something drops down to the bottom. Mostly I will spread some aluminum foil onto the oven shelf to prevent things from dropping down and messing it up.

The problem with cleaning the oven is that it then makes a horrible smell when it heats up. The chemicals seem to be worse than the dirt that was there before. Someone more profound could probably write that as a metaphor for life, somehow!

That depends on what you use. I spot clean as needed so I don't have to do the entire thing.

Lol. I wish I didn't know what cleaning meant either. But in a rental where I don't even know what the past tenant did or didn't do, I feel obligated to do something at some point in my life. I don't use the oven much, hardly at all. But still...

Just finished Green Glass Beads last night! The ending sucker punched me. It was so sweet and happy and then it was over! I was so sad. I really think there needs to be a follow up to it.

It's part of the Irregulars anthology. You can buy it on print from Amazon or Blind Eye Books. Or as an ebook through Weightless Books.

Really! Because usually one always gets some ''weak'' stories in anthologies. Here all of contributions were excellent and the idea of the shared universe wonderfully executed!

Yep, so far Irregulars is just über fantastic! Best anthology ever. It's true that most anthologies have weak stories in them. Not this one.

I'm really mad at myself for not reading it sooner. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. :-P hehe.

This book was just what I needed after the crap week I had!!! I can't put it down but I know when I get to the end I'll be mad cause it's over. Lol.

Btw, I highly recommend the print edition. Blind Eye Books really does a great job with their print books, from their cover art (remembering Wicked Gentlemen) to layout, and the type of paper used (color and weight and all that good stuff).

Yes, yes, and yes.

And if you stare long enough to the cover of ''The Irregulars'' it gets slightly creepy (added thriller bonus ;-)).

Carlita Costello | 1219 comments Irregulars is wonderful. Fascinating world building and amazing characters in each and yet they are all linked. My favorite is Green Glass Beads with its tight focus on character detail and tight action. I have to give a loud shout out to the editing, which maintained continuity and believable world building in each. This anthology is stellar on all levels.

It certainly can be cosy as the library has lots of heaters as well as lots of people like me calling in. BUT before you book your plane ticket I should just mention that about a year ago the local council decided it didn't need paid librarians to run its smaller more local libraries - libraries in the community they called it. So if as a community in Buckinghamshire you wanted your library to stay open you had to staff it with volunteers. My other half pointed out that I did not have time to 'work' in the library as well as everything else and fortunately there were plenty of volunteers in my village. Instead I run a writng workshop once a month as my contribution. He did offer to do the Council Chief Executive's job unpaid for half a day a week… well why stop at the librarians… but they've never got back to him. Of course the Council has discovered that they still need professional librarians to show the volunteers how everything works, how to manage the bookstock etc.

I have an important question to ask fans of Gine Hale's The Rifter series. I'm looking into buying the print books for the library, but they don't match up to the digital editions.

As an example, Book one was published last year. I've no problems with that one, called The Shattered Gates. Yet, what came out two months ago as book two is called The Holy Road, which GR tells me is book five. Then I'm being told that book three, which comes out next October is called His Sacred Bones. The original title is His Holy Bones and is book ten.

I've looked at Amazon, our book distributor that we order from, as well as the website for Blind Eye Books and can't figure this out. They all say those three books are the first three. But that makes no sense. I read the ebooks last year, so I'm pretty sure these are coming out in the wrong order with the wrong titles.

Am I just going blind here? Or what? Can anyone shed light on this? GR doesn't seem to have different versions for the print editions, so I don't know where else to look.

It just doesn't make sense for me to order them our of order, especially if "book three" doesn't come out until October.

Thanks for any help or any light someone can shed on this situation for me!

Antonella | 11565 comments It's true that the last print book is not out yet, but the first two print books published are *compilations* of the ebooks.

Print book 1: ''The Shattered Gates''

- Servants of the Crossed Arrows
- Black Blades

Print book 2: ''The Holy Road''

- Witches’ Blood
- The Holy Road
- Broken Fortress

This week I read Fettered by Lyn Gala and Kestrel's Chance by Harper Fox .

I'm re-reading Prey (Infected, #1) by Andrea Speed and Come Unto These Yellow Sands by Josh Lanyon for our BOM discussions.

And I'm starting Bad Attitude (Bad in Baltimore, #3) by K.A. Mitchell .

Happy.

I love EVERYTHING about BEB books. They are actually my favourite publisher out there. Not only do they produce the types of stories I love (fantasy and some sci-fi - Which is nearly impossible to find in the m/m genre) but all of their work is of exceptional quality. I don't think I've ever read something from them that I didn't love. And then as you said, their actually paper books are wonderful - Lovely thick stock, great artwork, with text that is easy to read.

My only complaint is that I wish they published more, but I get that they are a very small press with limited resources. But I just love them so.

But hey, it is an excellent story and it enthralled me again. I have to admit though, that I did skip a couple of paragraph's here and there. And I totally understand why having the characters of Wuthering Heights take part in an anger management course in one of the Thursday Next novels is the most hilarious idea ever :-D

But it turns out I've already read it and it's one of the newer ones, sigh.

Anne | 6816 comments I spent the last week reading Tell Me It's Real. From the rewievs it is a book you either love or hate, I must admit to being in the love category :). Klune has his own style which can be exhausting, especially if you don't like his kind of humour, but it is well written, emotional at times and he tells a good story. And I really fall for the inner monologue of Paul, snarky, politically incorrect to the point of being offensive at times, so he is not your usual romantic hero, but he feels real, like the book's title says :)

I liked it so much I wrote a brief review for it though I didn't go into details. When we get the book in at work I'll write something appropriate for the work blog though.

They were/are so amazing!! I couldn't read the book all the way through at once. I had to leave days inbetween th stories to give them time to dwell in my mind. They were each so absorbing and the world building so impressive. Each one needed it's own space in my mind to linger, and I want to savor the book slowly.

It's so fun to hear of other's enjoyment also. 8)
