Questions or discussion on a particular book?
:) I'm pondering whether to read it right now or to keep till the long flight I'm going to have in a week. I lean towards now - comfort read needs comfort...

So would I! I have found some other ebook publishers are submitting their stuff to Audible.

Great story, even better characters. I love a good hero but it's even better when I can really HATE the bad guy... and Cole was SOooo easy to hate.
Going back to formats and reading devices... Yesterday I was able to borrow a friend's Kindle and was disappointed to find out that it doesn't have back light (meaning you can't read in darkness) and makes weird and prolonged blinking at page turn. Pretty much a deal breaker for me...

For at least the Kindle 3, the covers actually come with a built-in light. I haven't yet tried these new K3 lighted leather covers -- they come as extras, so don't know how effective they are. I was unwilling to add weight and drain battery for a feature I didn't need (light).
The first generation Kindle came with ordinary leather covers (which were lovely, really).

Suhi, I know it seems strange, because you can't read without light, but the whole point of the ereader is not having a backlight. It's better for your eyes, for one. I really notice the difference between reading on my laptop and reading with an ereader. I get tired and my eyes hurt when I read too long on my laptop (I tend to turn the brightness as low as possible, but that doesn't always help).
Also, having a backlight doesn't help the battery life (though not every one cares about that)
ns, Anita, thanks! Actually the lack of a backlight is a lesser problem (and I do believe that it's better for the eyes), but the blinking is REALLY annoying. I hope they'll solve the issue soon (preferably before my current e-reader dies :))

What type of e-reader are you using now? If you have a lot of books, you may want to stay away from Kindle anyhow--you will be forever converting them to PDF to use them on a Kindle. A Nook, Sony or another type of ereader that uses more format choices might make a better replacement for you.
Lora, I'm using a PDA (HP IPQ), I buy book in LIT or convert into LIT, it doesn't work good with other formats so I'm pretty used to convert things all the time :) Another thing why I WILL stay away from Kindle - apparently it's rather big. I prefer the standard PDA size

All the e-ink devices do the flashy-thing when you turn the page, unfortunately. The Sony Pocket Edition Reader might be closer to the size you are looking for, though. (I'm a total Sony pimp. LOL!)

I'll take that into consideration ;)

Also, just wanted to say I finally got around to reading Icecapade and I loved it! I knew I would like it based on the blurb, but for some reason I kept putting off reading it. Sometimes I get my hopes up about a story and I'm afraid I'll be let down. I should know better when it comes to a Josh Lanyon story though! I got drawn right in and didn't put it down until it I was finished. I loved that Noel wasn't truly redeemed. Maybe that was a concern I had. Heroes always seem to be "good guys" or at the very least, on the right side of the law. Noel made no excuses and didn't try to make up for some misspent youth. He just moved on. I thought that was perfect for his personality. Loved it!

The PRS-950 is 3G wireless. There is no extra charge and no monthly fee for the wireless service. You will also still be able to plug in to your computer and do all the things you were used to with your 700.

Yay, someone I can discuss Icecapade with! Now if more of you would just read this lovely story too, and move on from Snowball and Perry Love so we can start and Icecapade thread! ;) (ok, jk...)
Redemption comes in many forms, right? While Noel doesn't do time and legal penance, the point is that I do see him rehabilitated, and it was a redemption of sorts. The comical parade of neighborly woes might not be the twelve labors of Hercules, but they do serve to contrast the lifestyle he leads now (giving, compassionate) versus his former life (self-indulgent, taking).

.... well if you insist! I will start Icecapade tonight! ha! i thought i was pushy ;)

I loved the neighbors coming and him helping everyone out without complaint. It was a sweet side.
Oh and Robert's confession. That was cute too. :)

.. and now I am moving on to Strange Fortune. ha! you would swear i had some kind of deadline to meet and i had to get through all these books ;) m/m does have an 'f' for me... frenzy!! and that is my quota of exclamation marks for the day...

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's a story I tend to forget about myself, but I really enjoyed writing it. I did a lot of research on this gang of New York jewel thieves and Noel's attitudes reflect that.

Just haven't had much time to chat so I've been trying to only jump in where it's specific to what I'm reading at the moment. I also haven't had nearly enough time to read lately.

Thanks so much, Norma. I'M pleased that YOU'RE pleased.
No, seriously, there's nothing better as an author than to know your books are giving pleasure.

This is terrible to admit, but I don't recall at this point. But it's safe to assume that Jake and Lisa would have had several conversations Adrien would not be party to.

It's quite addictive, no? I love my kindle. My husband wants to get one and I told him I feared we'd never speak to each other if we both sat down with our Kindles after we put the children to bed! :)

Writing that one was definitely a change of pace. My first serious effort at fantasy, and I kept panicking that I wasn't, er, doing it right. It seemed like I was having to explain so much, and the pacing was slower, much slower, and I really wasn't -- still am not -- totally comfortable with a lot of sex in a fantasy novel.
Now why that last should be, I have no idea.

How cute!
I'm reading

...I would have wanted a little more explicit details about what happened between chapter nineteen and twenty, though. Darn closed doors ;)

I just read
yesterday....and can I just say that Josh can write ANY genre well.
Like with everything Josh writes the words left me in astonished delight(I know he used this phrase in one of his books in a very different context, but I love what it conveys :)) He uses words like outrageous intimacy, and you can just see this men lost in one another in a time where everything is so fleeting like a war, they find such beauty in what the can give to each other.
Josh can take me anywhere with his stories and I will happily and trustingly read...he is dangerously closing in on Michael Chabon and Gabriel Garcia Marquez for My Absolute Favorite Writer spot :o) Thanks Josh this was a lovely story...

My goodness. Thank you. That's so nice to read.
That was a tough one to write because the research involved was unreal. Grueling. And then the more I learned, the more depressing the odds against my characters. That said, some men did make it all the way through the war.

Thank you, Barb. It's just a sweet bit, I think. I tried really hard to get the local color right.

Yep it's a vicious cycle Josh :O)...I read one of your books, I think it's awesome...then I have to say how awesome it is...and then I have to read another one, and think that one is awesome too...and round and round I go :O)
About the book, I can see how the researching this book cold have been brutal...I'm a bit fascinated by the World Wars and have read a lot of non-fiction on both, mostly the second World War though...it's so sad how humanity can descend into times like that...I really liked that you didn't come up with this far fetched HEA, but left them in a good spot...I thought if they don't make it they will have what they have and that is good, and ohhh how sweet it would be if they walked out together....
I loved the story and loved Cowboy, tricky devil that he was :O)
