Interesting. Yes. True. I can think of a few deplorably bad stories -- I can still see the covers though I don't remember the titles or the authors -- and as weak as the writing was, those stories did stick, did influence even.

Too true. Though I think the key that I didn't mention is that as much as the badly written book stuck with me, I'd NEVER purchase another book from that author. But the 4 star books that I can't recall the plot? I'll buy them again and again because even if they don't stick, I know the time spent reading them will be enjoyable.
