Anyone who likes BDB should check out the "J. R. Ward (BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD series)" group if they haven't already done so!Steph's already posted a link to this group in another post, it's great there are 231 series listed there - lots of people have helped to contribute to Angie's GR Group, "Paranormal Series Lists"
(P.S. Steph, how do you get the links to come up with the name of the group rather than the URL?)
Jen, in the (some html is ok), there is the html code to add a link. Just copy and paste their sample code here, replace their link between the quotes with yours, and then you type the name of the link where it says my link text. Voila. :)
Laura Lulu wrote: "Jen, in the (some html is ok), there is the html code to add a link. I've always just managed the long "www.goodreads......" type links. Thanks!
Welcome, Kelleigh! :) I like that group too! In fact, I need to get makin' my lists for their July challenge. Thanks, Jen, that's a great reference for this group especially, since we're all serial addicts. Why not hop on over there and find ya some more to add in your TBR list?!
Jen's group is fun too!
Paranormal Addicts & Newbies - Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy
Steph wrote: "Welcome, Kelleigh! :) I like that group too! In fact, I need to get makin' my lists for their July challenge. Thanks, Jen, that's a great reference for this group especially, since we're all ..."
Steph, thanks for the recommendation! I think I should pop a link to this group and to Angies Lists group on mine somewhere. The nature of Paranormal Addicts means we will never have all the series on there as there are far too many!
I'm working on adding ALL the series in the Paranormal Series group onto my TBR - but there are soooooooo many! And I'm now using FictFact too so takes even longer! Wish Goodreads offered a way to see your series more cleary on the book page and/or My Books (I used to use Shelfari and their series feature is one of the few I miss! - It picks up when a book you've added is part of a series and tells you that you have 2 of 6 books etc, useful when trying to track some series!)
If you like reading challenges, here are a few groups that have good ones:Romance Readers Reading Challenges Lots of great challenges & what's nice about this one is the challenges are not strict about genre--you can read whatever you like to fill the categories. Yz runs these challenges and she always has fun & challenging categories to fill.
Everything Paranormal Jael has some good challenges here.
Paranormal Romance The group that Kelleigh mentioned. Yz also runs these challenges and they are great.
Challenge Overload (PNR & UF Edition) Lenore has some really good challenges here.
Since we are on reading challenges can I add a few more groups with PNR and/or UF relevant ones.Urban Fantasy Got a couple of UF related challenges going.
Paranormal Addicts & Newbies - Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Monthly and other challenges in PNR/UF area (yeah it's my group but Steph posted the link to it above so hope it's okay to mention we do challenges too)
Werewolf Love Monthly challenges
Thanks for listing those, girls. They are all good ones, although I don't think I've been to "Werewolf Love". I'm trying to be more mindful about which groups I join and make sure I participate actively. Part and parcel to having your own group, I guess. :)Welcome Jen! Of course! I enjoy your group and I know other members will too.
And, Jen ... Don't talk about the cool features on Shelfari, you're killin' me! LOL! I don't need another place to track my books, seriously I've got so many already I need a list to keep track of where I keep track of all my book lists! LMAO!!
ETA: You should post that suggestion on the GR feedback group, Jen. If Shelfari can do it, so can GR! *how nice that would be!*
Steph, I did go suggest it in the Feedback group and apparently this feature is on the Goodreads to do list!!! (but so are lots of other things too!)Hopefully it will be here sooner rather than later!
Don't leave Goodreads for Shelfari! Goodreads is miles better, the groups are so much better, the books feature is better etc. The series feature is the ONLY thing I miss! I used Shelfari first but as soon as I discovered Goodreads (someone posted that it was crap so I of course had to come look it up and found I really liked it!!!) I stopped using it!
I'm a member of Werewolf Love and I know a couple of others here are as well. They have really good challenges, monthly and longer.
I said earlier I'd suggested in the Feedback group about series. Well been back to see and looks like we might get this feature soon!!See Series information
Very cool, Jen. Thanks for starting them on that one. Right now, the best way on GR, that I know of, to find all the books in a series is to type the series name into the "add book/author" feature, they are even in order, with the exception of anthologies. Or are most of the time.Too bad they can't just pop over to Shelfari and see how they do it. hehe
Whatever they come up with should prove to be a benefit and a base to start from for any improvements, etc. COOL! :)
Sandra, I would love to check out "Werewolf Love" b/c I do love my weres. But, I'm trying her to limit the # of groups I'm in to make sure that I participate as much as possible. Although ... I am a sucker for challenges! hehe
Steph, the WL monthly challenge is only 5 books. Only 1 of which has to be were, so any other of your books would easily fit. (Thinking Spider's Bite!). LOL
I have to go check that out. I saw one of the Werewolf Love challenges, I think it was an alphabet one, and I thought I remembered that they all had to be shifter books. I love me some shifters, but I need a little variety. :)
Laura, I'm in the Alphabet one as well - it goes to the end of the year, so you only need to read a couple of shifter books a month, very doable.
Come on, Ladies! Geez! We're supposed to be reducing the # of challenges, not increasing them! LOL!! :D
I just joined shelfari. I plan to use it to keep track of series I am most interested in reading soon. I am not leaving goodreads lol
Jen (Dehx) mentioned that was a good site for series tracking. She's even asked GR to add a way similar so we can track them better here.
Steph said: We're supposed to be reducing the # of challenges...Hmmm...I seem to have missed that announcement....
Steph wrote: "LOL, you are SO bad! *Must resist the pressure*"DO IT!!! :) I am doing the August one. :) (WL)
I just counted...I have 20 going on right now. About 3 or 4 are monthly ones, but I'm going to discipline myself not to add any more until I reduce the list by at least a third! Honest! (hopefully!)

LOL! Ya'll are TOO much! Honest! (hopefully!) hehe Who's idea was it to start creating challenges in the first place? Wicked, wicked person! If they weren't so much damn fun! :D
Steph wrote: "LOL! Ya'll are TOO much! Honest! (hopefully!) hehe Who's idea was it to start creating challenges in the first place? Wicked, wicked person! If they weren't so much damn fun! :D"Blame Goodreads for providing the perfect platform for reading challenges and discussion... they have only facilitated our addiction... :-P I LOVE GOODREADS!
I blame it on the wacky, crazy, creative, and fun people who create such deliciously tempting challenges that are harder to resist than cheesecake or Margaritas! How did all those people end up on GR? And to think I thought GR wasn't so interesting when I first signed up...hadn't discovered the groups then though...
If anyone's interested, a member just recently started up a scifi romance group too. Past time someone got around to that, LOL. So it's a good way to discover more books in this little niche or just talk. Good times. And there's a challenge. Buahaha.Sci-Fi Romance Group
I'll have to check it out, thanks for the link, NU. I'm fairly new to that genre in books. Love me some sci-fi TV/movies though.ETA: Hey, ICU, mod lady. :) Good luck with the group you two! Ooooo, sci-fi movie and TV chat too? I'm SO there!
Thanks, Steph! I'm new to the genre too, but I'm loving it already! Maybe even better than the books/movies. Yup, I had ideas and I saw a lot of fun discussions in store, so I became a mod there. There are a lot of SyFy fans too. ;)
Angie has a group called
Paranormal Series Lists
where you can "check what's next in your series and talk about them".The group is open to all, so if you don't see a series listed, you are welcome to join and add it. She breaks the lists down by author's last name to make the search for series reading order easy.
I would like to apologize for the duplication of that info in my group. I had a wild hair idea and ran with it without remembering Angie's group provides us with exactly this information.
** All of our lists have been moved to our archive. I apologize to LethalLovely, as well, for having to remove all the data she spent so much time and effort posting in our group. **
Hey! Please head on over to The Nexus. We're all about letting indie authors interact with readers and having fun.http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/6...
Missed this one... Steph what about your other group? The Dark Side of the Moon, didn't catch it mentioned here. For Dark UF readers.http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4...
And one for my Highlander obsession - Outlander series and Gabaldon fans & the ultimate Alpha male James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser
