I am so glad for these discussions, it helps me with my "research". Thanks all for being as engulfed as I am, you have wonderful insights that I don't always catch. 😆

We're always glad to see new members who are just as obsessed with the books as we are. XD And we would love to see you in some of our ongoing discussions. =)

Feel free to join in on any of the discussions, we would love to hear your thoughts. =)

HI Katherine, I love SK too!! Although I will admit i'm getting overwhelmed! Im up on CoN and DH need to get to Deadmans, and LoA. I'm also a huge League fan! I'm starting to loose it when it comes to keeping all the worlds straight!!!

We're always happy to see other Menyons, and we hope to hear your thoughts on some of the topics we've got going on. Feel free to pull up a chair and drop in on whatever topic you like, here. =)

That said, we do our best to help everyone keep all the characters straight, so if you have any questions about the characters or the series, don't hesitate to post them on the board. Someone will be happy to answer them for you. =)
(Oh yeah ... and Thorn is leader of the Hellchasers, the group that Fang was recruited to in Bad Moon Rising. Thorn is also related to Cadegan, the hero in Son of No One. :D)

HI Lashette - I completely understand! I've been lost in the Hunter Universe for quite awhile, lol. I just read with an open mind and usually it comes back during the book :)

I’ve read almost all of the Dark Hunter Series up to Dragonmark and Invision of The Nick Chronicles. I’m wanting to reread the entire series in chronological order and just need to figure out when to read certain books like Deadmans Cross series and figure out how to read The Wager on my kindle lol.
I’m so excited to be here. I just dl this app last night and look forward to chatting about this amazing series with people who appreciate it and hopefully make some friends on the way.
Being a newb to this app any advice on how to work and navigate it would be greatly appreciated. ^_^

I wish I had some pointers on how to use the GR app, but alas, I don't have it on my phone. =(

Nice to meet you and have u here Malinda! I'm Taylor.
Have u read any of Sherrilyn Kenyon's other series?

I live up in Minnesota where Kiss of Night takes place also where Dante's Inferno lives.

I have read the 1st book to Deadman's Cross, it was a little confusing but good. Since its 3 book, thought I'd wait until the 3rd comes out. So now I have nothing to read, hence the starting over of DH
I have debate over the years to read Nick's series, curious what others thought. He had a great sense of humor in the Dark Hunter's series. The little feed back Ive got is its for young teens.
Glad to be apart of the Minions

Nice to have you here!
CoN has a lot of things going on in it. We learn a lot more about the DH universe as well as some other characters such as Takeshi. From Illusion til the final book it's really confusing but interesting.
We also get insight as why certain things happen in DH the way they do!

Yeah Deadman Walking really is especially confusing. I think the author just packed way too many things into one book to the point that it's hard to keep track of anything. Like I still can't keep track of what Duel even is since he's a bazillion different things...
All the CoN books are less confusing than that book.

Did you like the CoN books? Havent found another series I liked yet so I am re-reading the Dark Hunter Series, since Stygian is coming.

I do like the series. I love the complexity in overall plot and character complexity (especially Nick/Ambrose's! As well as how actions in CoN tie in with Nick's story in the DH series.
I just feel the individual plot for each book gets less story-arc-like after Infamous.
After that book the plot is now viewed in a wide sense and some of the actions start to blend together from less balance between talking and fighting. And some things aren't explained well as they should be. Sometimes stuff is brought up and in the next books is never referred to again.
Have you ever read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? It's so good it's my fav!

Yea, that is why I feel a bit overly confused by how SK has made note that this is like a prequel to the DH series. I mean some of it is a semblance to what we would imagine Nick's early years working with Kyrian may have been like. But I do agree there are some confusing moments that are brought up and never explained again. Be interesting to see if there will ever be reading guides created that could help piece things together as well at times.

I get what you mean about CON. Sometimes a character will ask a simple question and the person he's talking to will go on some weird tangent that never answers the question, and all of it strikes me as a sloppy way to dump information on the reader. The kind of information the author couldn't find a way to fit into the present-day Dark Hunter series where the information in question is actually relevant.
Also, some characters are introduced for no purpose at all. They never contribute anything to the story, but still the book really goes into their personal history or makes them somehow mysterious without ever expanding on that. One character that seemed pretty important disappeared two books ago and never showed up again. No one seems worried about it either.
I mean, I love the series and the world the author built, but right now, I'm not sure where the story is even going. I don't even know what story she was trying to tell. The entire CON series seems like one gigantic tangent and I am just crossing my fingers that after all these years, at some point, the author will tie all her loose ends and dropped plot points into something that makes sense.
I didn't mean to go on and on like this. This is something we can talk about in the CON thread

But you can't dispute that by far SK is one of the very few writers in the romance genre that can actually make you feel and think outside the box. I mean most other authors I've read in the genre are out to tell a story. SK does the same. But I've never once thought of how something would be like in another person's shoes as often as I have when I think back on SK's books. And I mean that in real time settings too. Not that I'm apathetic to others feelings. But still when you get mad you tend to forget someone else is going through their own struggles at times like you.
So tangent or no. I can truly say that SK is one of the greatest writers for giving you a reason to reflect on your own approach to people and how you are living your life. And I never expected to get that from ANY romance writer, EVER.

And even though there are those tangents and dropped plot points and continuity issues that annoy me so much, that's just part of the deal with the realism and multitude of perspectives that we get. I mean, it costs the story some clarity, but it also reflects how real people won't conveniently stay on track while providing exposition because real people are not performing for the reader, they are just being. So they'll go on tangents. They'll misinterpret things they hear and misremember events they witnessed. They'll forget things too and they'll lie.
It's super annoying and confusing for me as a reader but I get that it's sort of a package deal with SK's writing style

Exactly. Cause humans in general are a freaking unbelievable hot mess. But gotta love em, cause we can't always do the jail time for wanting to run em over, LOL.

*Is there a Savitar book?
*Someone remind who/what Jarred, Thorne and Savitar are?? Gods? I am mildly obsessed with them.

Not yet, but it will happen.
"*Someone remind who/what Jared, Thorn and Savitar are?"
Savitar is a Chthonian, Thorn a demon and Jared is the Sephiroth.

Hello! I'm not sure if you ever did introduce yourself or not, but welcome again ;) And you're job does sound fun!
Do you also read the Chronicles of Nick?

Oooo i'm team Styxx and Nick too!

Same, I don't like Ash, but LOVE Styxx and Nick.

My name is Abbey, 40-something from the USA
I am an avid reader and have been for my entire life.
I started reading Kinley Macgregor romance novels, and then found out that the Lords of Avalon were also hers, and that lead to the DH and the CON...which I also shared with my son, who also loved the CON.
So in a nutshell, I have all of the books of this author, including her historical romance novels..which are fab too.
I am less in love with the pirate books, as pirates have never been my thing...sad but true. But I still read them because sometimes there are real jewels to be found in books that challenge you.
I remember reading the Mayfair Witches, by Anne Rice and the 500-year family genealogy had my brain turned to mush. Well, I kept going...after taking a break, and boy am I ever glad I did cause it turned out to be one of my favorite books ever.
Back to SK (or AG)--- I especially loved Acherons book...I mean I know a lot of people just say Ash..because really--what are the DH without Ash? (ummm nothing?) but honestly..his book, his struggle, his pain...I cried like a baby. I was so profoundly impacted by his book It left a scar in my heart. And the fact that he is so humble and human in all the books written before I even knew his back story..just made me love him more. I wish I was Tori...I envision myself as a Bride/Tori mix. But jeez....Ash is one hell of a guy!
So that is my basic introduction...look forward to chatting with you all.
Cheers!
Abbey
