OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! Janessa, I'm totally having a stroke over here. Do to the fact that I'm from Newark too. And didn't even realized anybody in this town actually read the same books that *I* did! I mean so many folks I have went to school with and talked to seem to run from books. So more than glad to see and welcome you to the group. I mean wowza. :D

Valerie (rie10) | 166 comments I am Valerie and from Redford MI. Have to say, it is my sister's fault i even started reading these books. I am not a fan of romance books, however these are my exception. LOVE, LOVE LOVE these! I have read all of the DH books (including the were & dream hunter books) and the LOA books. Anxiously waiting for the next LOA as well. I think i have read all the League books as well.

Since I lost my husband earlier this year, been reading lots more than ususal. Mostly I tend to read Sci-Fi and Fantasy books but am open to just about anything if the storyline is good.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Valerie,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know stories can't make of the loss of a loved one. But I do believe fiction can really provide for a healthy dose of escapism from the hurt. So welcome to our humble corner of the web here. Pull up a chair and chat away with us. :)

message 654: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 166 comments The one great thing about all the books...there is just about allways something that will make you feel better about something in your life. So many good things to take away from the books if you read-into them too. Kinda like Carlos Castanada books (though those are way different...though kinda reminds me of Ash & the gods...) LOL

message 655: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Good point Valerie. I do have to say I agree with that as I feel that SK doesn't just write about tortured heroes and heroines. But she does totally give you insight into the other side of things. And show you the healing strength of the redeemptive spirit. And in general love the character sarcasm, lol. As most more times than not even if people don't think they are that sarcastic they usually are and SK just sheds the light on it.

Angel Cry (AngelCry) | 1 comments Hi, my name is Lily, I'm from Kansas City. I don't have a favorite DH book because every time I think I've read my favorite I read the next one and it's just as good as the last!! Love Sherrilyn, love her writing style, and character development! And absolutely LOVE the magna series!! Nice to finally meet so many like minded people!

Welcome to the group. I have to say what you just posted is one of the best things I've heard yet from a fan of SK's. :) Please pull up a chair and dive right into the discussions.

Eliza | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is Eliza and im from NY. I am probably one of SK biggest fans. I love every single one of her books but my favorite is her DH series. My sister gave me my first book while i was in the hospital and I've been hooked ever since. Everything paranormal is my kind of book. I have over 400 books in my collection and i can see that # doubling by 2013. I never leave my house without my Nook or iPad!!!

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Hi I am Manuela, a German living in Adelaide, Australia. I happened to come across Vane and Brides book in my local library and as soon as I realized this was a series I got hooked. Since then I worked myself through a lot of SKs books and have my favourites and my loathies. Once I start a book I am sucked into the story and cannot put it down. I love the DH, the WH, the DrH, the gods (some of them), the demi-gods (most of them) and the demons. But I have to admit that after I started the league books I am so in love with Darling.

message 671: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Manuela,

Welcome to the group. Glad you have found SK's stories to be as enjoyable as the rest of us. Please don't hesitate to pull up a seat and dive into the discussions.

message 676: by Libbie (new)

Libbie Newbie checking in.

I'm Libbie from near Virginia Beach, VA. I stumbled onto the DH books by accident almost two years ago (a few months before Retribution came out) and due to the nature of my job at the time...I read the whole series to that point in a month. I've reread many of them several times since.

I am beyond tickled to find this group since I haven't found any place I could discuss the books with anyone and none of my friends read them!

message 677: by Sara (new)

Sara (notsonicelibrarian) | 1 comments Hey ya'll I'm Sara; I'm currently living in Oklahoma. I love Sk's books. It's funny to think that it was actually my mom who stumbled onto Vane's book several years ago; and when she was done she gave it to me with instruction that I HAD to read it. We've been lost ever since. The DH series is one of the only book series' I can read over and over again. Especially Acheron's book. That is by far my favorite. I've read it so many times I can probably quote it by now. It's still the book I go to when I'm bored and need a good read. Can't tell you the number of times I've reread the series for no other reason then I just love the characters. I so wish they made men like that in real life... i'd like to place an order for my very own Dark-Hunter please....

message 678: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments You are quite welcome Al. :)

Lol, Manuela we all have the deep ever growing desire to get our read on. So definitely don't blame ya. Read and come back and share some thoughts from time to time kay?

Hi there Libbie, I totally hear ya. I tend to come from a bit of a reading family. But unfortunately we all read such different things, all the time! Not only that but my parents have their little jokes about romance novels*insert eye roll*, lol. So yea, this is about the second place I have found that I could talk to people about the books. The first was SK's old web site before it got super uprgraded and now I can't find all that I used to over there. So now that I'm here I really enjoy the more in-depth discussion format and chatting with fellow fans that just get it!

Hi Sara, I feel the same as you. Where is that 1-800 number so we can dial up a DH today, lol. It is also really cool you can share the series with your mom. I have another friend that could do the same too. So in essence it is just so awesome that SK's books are spanning generations too. I think one day if I have some daughters I will pass them on to them as well. :)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Just started re-reading Valerius story. Love him to bits he is my favourite (refer to other comment pages about the fav DH). I have to hurry on as there are some more books to read I haven't had the chance yet. I do sometimes pop on SK web page to find new characters that I haven't read yet (and then I put a request in to my local library), so eventually I will have read them all and should I, by any luck, fortuna, the fates win in Lotto I will buy the whole series and the league books as well *grin*

Hi I am Manuela from Adelaide and I have been thinking hard about how vampires or in Sherries series DHs would live down under. I see possibilities in the metropolitan cities like Sydney or Melbourne, maybe even Perth but Adelaide? or further out in the suburbs or even the outback? Joey W. Hill has an Australian vampiress but I haven't read it yet to understand how she is doing it in 40 - 48 degree C with up to 16 hours sunshine. Should SK ever take on the challenge and have an Australian DH, please point it out to me!!!

He's been through so much more than anyone and he's still such a good man. So very jealous of Tori :-)

Yeah, I read those, rubbishing the series (after book Acheron) just because Sherri introduced new parthenons and new players and they get overwhelmed by it. I don't mind other religions and gods and once I started reading about the Native Americans I got used to them too, I have no problems with figuring out who is who and related to whom and belongs to what. I take them as entertainment and felt a bit overwhelmed myself when I read here about all the swooning and mooning over fictional characters. I admit some of you have pulled on my inner girly strings and yes I admit too, I phantasize about some of these very yummie men (I am only human after all).

message 694: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Pearce (MelaniePearce) | 17 comments Hi guys. I'm looking for some opinions. I've read Acheron a few times and I still have one question. When Acheron drinks the sprite after he's first Tori why does he get "drunk". Maybe I'm missing the obvious. Is it Tori, the lack of blood, good sex? I'd appreciate some clarity.

message 695: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 166 comments I think it is just pop (or soda) that gets him drunk. He said he never had it before. I would guess maybe it is the carbonation? Maybe the sugar? Either way, such a great scene!!

message 696: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Hi Melanie,

Good question. I don't think SK ever really answered that question that I have saw of anyway. And my guess he got drunk off of it cause he doesn't normally consume human foods. So never having drank sprite before it could have been the sugar from it. Maybe affected his demon side greatly considering it is used to just blood.

message 697: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Pearce (MelaniePearce) | 17 comments Ok, I'll have to accept that. All my research comes up with sprite alone is the cause of Acheron getting drunk. Sherrilyn always explains the unknown well, so, it is what it is and I appreciate the opinions. And yes it was truly a great scene, I loved it. It shows that even Chthonians are human too. Lol
