Have you read Garth Stein's Art of Racing in the Rain? Not exactly funny, but Enzo is a dog worth knowing.

Dawn Kunda (satchel) | 15 comments I had to do it...I wrote a protest novel in respects to the political arena in the US. "Presidential Purchase, a President's Confession" is a novel containing corruption, greed, and lies. The ending may surprise you, as I don't see it happening this election, but it's a wish!

Lance Charnes (lcharnes) | 77 comments The Collection (The DeWitt Agency Files #1) by Lance Charnes The Collection , the first installment in The DeWitt Agency Files crime series, released on 14 November.

Four years ago, what Matt Friedrich learned at work put him in prison. Yesterday, it earned him a job. Tomorrow, it may kill him.

Matt learned all the angles at his old Los Angeles gallery: how to sell stolen art, how to “enhance” a painting’s history, how to help buyers hide their purchases from their spouses or the IRS. He made a load of money doing it – money he poured into the lawyer who worked a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney. Matt’s out on parole and hopelessly in debt with no way out...until a shadowy woman from his past recruits him to find a cache of stolen art that could be worth millions.

Now Matt’s in Milan, impersonating a rich collector looking for deals. He has twenty days to track down something that may not exist for a boss who knows a lot more than she’s telling. He’s saddled with a tough-talking partner who may be out to screw him and up against a shady gallerist whom Matt tried to send to prison. His parole officer doesn’t know he’s left the U.S. Worse yet, what Matt’s looking for may belong to the local branch of the Calabrian mafia.

Matt’s always been good at being bad. If he’s good enough now, he gets a big payday with the promise of more to come. But one slip in his cover, one wrong word from any of the sketchy characters surrounding him, could hand Matt a return trip to jail...or a long sleep in a shallow grave.

Read an excerpt here.

He is a craftsman with words and the emotions of the reader are placed on a twisting, turning roller-coaster in this fine novel. My highest recommendation."

Richard Parise | 104 comments HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
‘Twas the night
before Christmas,

When all through the White House not an Obama was stirring, though one was quite soused; the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that a politically correct Santa soon would be there.
The Trumps were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Washington danced in their heads; and Melania in her kerchief and Donald in his cap had just settled their brains with a strong night cap; when out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, they sprang from their bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window they flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, gave a luster of midday to the objects below, when, what to their wondering eyes should appear but Vladimir Putin with a six pack of beer; with a little old driver so nimble and spry, that I knew in a minute it was old Nikolai. More rapid than eagles more well-wishers came and Donald whistled and shouted and called them by name: Now, Ivanka! now, Ivana! now, Eric and Don! On, Newt! on, Mitt! Chris Christie and Ron! To the front of the White House and over the wall, now, Dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricanes fly, when they meet with an obstacle, the harder they try, so up to the White House these Republicans flew, with a mouthful of joy and Nikolai, too.
And then in a twinkling Michelle heard on the roof the prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As Barack drew in his head and was turning around, down the chimney Donald Trump came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot, yet not a single trace of ashes or soot? A bundle of documents he had flung on his back, and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf and Michelle laughed when she saw him in spite of herself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head soon gave Barack to know he had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word but went straight to his work, and dispelled all the rumors then turned with a jerk and laying his finger aside of his nose and giving a nod up the chimney he rose. He sprang to his copter, to his team gave a whistle, and away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere they flew out of sight,

Happy Christmas
To all, and to all
A good night!

George Bernstein (suspenseguy) | 97 comments Exciting news. My first novel, TRAPPED, which is loaded with 5-star reviews (Most common comment: "I couldn't put it down."), is now available as an audio book. My "Producer" did a terrific job of expressing the emotions that go into the characters, and I couldn't be happier. Listeners should be aware that there are a few moderately graphic sex scenes that are NOT gratuitous, but are an integral part of the story.

The audio book is available at Audible.com at the link below:

George Bernstein (suspenseguy) | 97 comments The first if my Detective Al Warner series, DEATH'S ANGEL, is now on Audible (also available at Amazon). Beautifully narrated by Nate Weiland, a little less than 9 hours of non-stop tension, with an ending you never suspect.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P2V63X0

A serial killer is prowling the streets of South Florida for the 2nd time in less than a year, systematically killing beautiful young women. Crack homicide detective, Al Warner, just back from injury leave, battles his own demons while chasing this clever psychopath.
Warner is physically recovered from a head wound stemming from a deadly shoot-out, but sleep is compromised by horrific post-traumatic-stress nightmares.
Warner's romance with Sharon Clark deteriorates, aggravated by sleepless nights and the tension of a stalled investigation. Beautiful young women continue to die, and Warner discovers the killer thinks of himself as Angel de Dios, the Angel of God. The press labels him the "The Angel of Death.” More beauties die as Warner struggles with terrifying dreams and his failing relationship with Sharon.
In the end, Warner is again thrust into a battle to the death with an unlikely foe, with Sharon’s life the final prize.Death's Angel

Rookie Officer Flora Vastine of the Swatara Creek Police Department is called to Creekside Rest, a nursing facility, where a female guest has been murdered. Ray Fertig, another guest who claims to have been the victim’s lover, is found in the room with the body.

Fertig shocks Flora with tales of senior sexuality and asks to speak with former police chief Dan “Sticks” Hetrick. Now a consultant to the department, Hetrick knows Fertig’s unsavory past and is reluctant to discount him as a suspect despite evidence to the contrary.

Hetrick and Vastine's investigation soon turns up more lovers from Fertig's past, and an unexpected solution to the crime.
