We used to have a bicycle thread, but I can't find it, so I'm starting another...

So far I've raised $525. If you'd like to sponsor me... :)

(That reminds me, I finally found my copy of Broken Toy Shop and will get a copy in the mail this week.)
I have a trail/street hybrid - a 20-year-old Schwinn that I've taken good care of and which is hanging in there admirably - and I'm on it several times a week.
I make it a point to stay in good enough shape so the kids can't outrun/swim/bike/throw/bat me. Yet they still call me "old man."

There is no bike per se in my fantasy world! :-)

There is nothing wrong with that in moderation!

This weekend, I biked up through the neighborhood to the Chehalis-Western trail, an old rail line they converted into a hiking/biking trail back in the 80s. It's lined with small farms, orchards, blackberry bushes, and then farther up the trail some forest which feels ten degrees cooler than the rest of the trail. The tall evergreens just breathe coolness...
I love biking there, because there's no traffic, and it's relatively flat. I see plenty of birds, and a few cows and horses, but no bunnies. I think I'm not out early enough for that.

If I had a bicycle, I could head out my back door, through a park, over a pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River, and on to about 200 miles of walking/biking trails.
If I only had a bicycle. I need to get a bicycle.
Kevin: I remember that song!
Bun: That's the advantage of a town the size of mine. Everything is bicycle-distance away.

Where is it warm and dry and bicycley? Do I have to move to Davis?"
Here, Bun, here! Move here! You could have two out of the three 4 months out of the year!

:D .... so true! I try to ride to work as often as I can when it is warm enough(50+) and not snowing or raining. My commute is about 6miles and the uphill is on the way home, so I don't have to worry about being all sweaty.

Actually I hear from friends who have been there that Mackinac Island is gorgeous."
It certainly is. I'd love to live there or anywhere north.

I've worn them riding bikes also, and I apologize to everyone whose eyesight I may have ruined.

I wear the clothes, but always smile and say "hi" to those I pass.
My boss rides his bike to work. He strutts around in his bike pants after hours. He does see himself as an Italian Stallion.

That's a really ridiculous intersection. And I've heard they're talking about widening that highway to make it a 6-7 lane road. It's already 4-5 lanes wide.

I'm back on my quickly aging (maybe ten years old) mountain/street hybrid for the summer. This morning I did ten miles up to Belgium (not the country, uh, the small town) and ten miles back. I love riding in the morning, near dawn, if the wind isn't strong, especially. The northern route (I'm on an inter-urban trail) works through corn/soybean fields. As I ride birds flutter along next to me (very Disney) and bunnies burst out of the fields then burst back just as quickly. Man, I love riding my bike when the conditions are right (e.g. I'm not fighting a full-on wind).
I don't ride my bike to places as much as to get out of the gym and get some sun. I might start riding around town more often to see how that works. I'll take my backpack with me.
Also, I saw people in Olympia/Seattle riding bikes up those hills, and I felt like a total wuss.
You on the bicycle this summer?
