Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1078 comments I don't think this is already here.

I love buying books for kids/babies where there is a character in the book that has the same name as the baby/kid.

I was hoping this latest baby would be named Liam so I could give The Curious Garden but nooooo.

So, I know there are books with the name Arthur, though none that I'm wild about.

This is a lengthly long shot.

Anybody know any children's books (good ones) where there is a character named Ashton? The new baby's name is Ashton Arthur. Eek!!!

I will probably give books not based on name in this case, but on the off chance someone knows any books, I thought I'd post and see.

I usually give books but I may deviate and get an outfit or something...

Thanks for any help but I'm not expecting any miracles.

Eastofoz I know of a site where they insert the name of the child in the story and you buy the hardcover. There's one story for boys that takes place in the jungle and another for girls about fairies. I've bought the books and my kids love to see their names in their own story. Makes for a nice baby present or even an older child. The website is iseeme.com

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1078 comments Thanks, Eastofoz. I used to know about this or a similar site and I wasn't impressed with the books but kids love seeing their name and with this name I might have to go this route. Thank you for the reminder! I'll check out the site.

Gosh, Lisa, Ashton is a tough one!!! I can't think of any, sorry!

In terms of Arthur, there are certainly a lot more including the series books like Arthur's Honey Bear by Lillian Hoban (which I love) and then the Arthur books by Marc Brown (and there is the whole Arthur TV series, etc.) which I never really got into but I know are very popular.

Good luck finding just the right present. I think giving books with the baby's new name is such a sweet idea but I agree you might just be stumped in this case!

Oh, gosh, I got a present like that when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it too! I'm sure the story would seem totally lame to me nowadays but back then I thought it was the best thing going! They even inserted names for my pets and sibling, etc. ;->

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1078 comments It's actually an excellent telling of that tale. I think you'd both enjoy it.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1078 comments Eastofoz, I wanted to come back and report: I got a book from that site and the mother received it yesterday and she was thrilled and impressed. I'm so happy. Thank you for telling me about that web site! It will come in handy when other friends name their kids unusual names, or any name that isn't already in a great book/great books.

Glad I could help Lisa :) I thought the books made for original presents too.

Amy (mary6543) | 341 comments Lisa, your glowing recommendation makes me want to buy those books! But I have several kids I buy for, and the price is just too steep for me. :-(
