I find this book very interesting, it was very easy to understand and when I read it, I imagine LaVaughn as myself. It first started slow and boring at the first paragraph, then it started to develop into more interesting stories and I kept reading because I was curious to know what will happen next. Made me think about her and her life. To me, I thought her life was a little tough, her father died when she was young, she have to work to save up money for her to go to college, and she's only 14. I admire girls who work and not depending on their parents.
I related to this book in a strange way. I have students who are 14 years old who come from rough situations. The dialect in the book was familiar to me due to being used in my classroom by my students. I even recommended this book to one of my students who is struggling in school right now and needs to see her PO on a weekly basis and is even wearing a GPS bracelet to make sure she is in the right place at the right time. I am hoping she can make a connection with the book and see her potential and a way to improve her situation. I am curious about the rest of the series now to see what the characters do and how the story turns out.
