Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 0 comments Hello! It appears I'm having Black Dagger Brotherhood withdrawals... so I'm contemplating reading the Demonica series by Larissa Ione. The first book in the series is Pleasure Unbound.

Have you read this? Likes or dislikes?

Any feedback or other recommendations are welcome!

Thanks

:)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments This is a good series. Love the setting in the hosptial with unusual patients.

message 3: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I enjoy the series, I feel like there's more sex in Ione's than in BDB. Maybe it's just me though.

message 4: by Angelika (new)

Angelika | 40 comments I had to read the first book for a group read (as I had already read the other choice). I didn't think I was going to like it when I started but it turned out not half bad and finished it in no time. Will no doubt be reading the rest of the series once I get caught up with group reads and challenges.

I agree with Jess on the sex thing, definitely more in this series.

message 6: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments As I recall I think the first book I liked less than all the others.

message 7: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Never read it before, but I feel for you with the whole BDB withdrawls! If you read them, you'll have to let us know what you think!

BTW - I'm going to move this thread to the Paranormal Romance folder.

message 8: by Jesse (new)

Jesse (Jessep) | 15 comments I LOVED this series! There is a new book coming out in August that I can't wait to read. It's one of my favorite series for sure. I say, definitely give it a go!

message 9: by Eva (new)

Eva (evakipler) | 4 comments It is one of my fav series, too. There definitely is more sex, or maybe it is just steamier. :) I am anxiously awaiting the book that comes out in August.

Another good series if you like hot sex scenes is the Psy-Changling Series by Nalani Singh. She is definitely an author to check out if you are not familiar with her.

message 10: by Jesse (new)

Jesse (Jessep) | 15 comments I've been curious about the Psy-Changling series and almost picked up the first book a while back. I defintely have to check it out now.

message 11: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 0 comments I enjoyed the first couple of books in the Psy-Changling series, but after that it just got so darn repetitive.. I just lost interest. Do they get better??

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Kelleigh wrote: "I enjoyed the first couple of books in the Psy-Changling series, but after that it just got so darn repetitive.. I just lost interest. Do they get better??"

The same thing happened to me, I think I cannot read pnr books like that back to back, I plan to try again when I am on holiday.

message 13: by Eva (new)

Eva (evakipler) | 4 comments The Psy-Changling series is kinda repetitive, but then again many series are. I think that BDB as well as the Demonica series are as well. Same basic storyline... a couple that struggles to get together, but in the end it all works out. I don't think that the Psy-Changling series is any more repetitive than the other two series I mentioned. Nalani Singh's writing style is excellent. I can really get caught up in the story and lose myself for a few hours.

message 14: by Akaria (new)

Akaria Gale | 17 comments I just finished Pleasure Unbound and loved it. The hero and heroine are both great and they have some very steamy scenes. Hope you like it!

message 15: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 0 comments I haven't started it yet but I will! I got wrapped up in another book, and I think I'll read Covet by J.R Ward next, but after that I'm all about this series.

Can't wait!

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) Dawn wrote: "Kelleigh wrote: "I enjoyed the first couple of books in the Psy-Changling series, but after that it just got so darn repetitive.. I just lost interest. Do they get better??"

The only reason why I have been bouncing from series to series is because I wasn't able to get the next book in a series. but that leads me to being more wrapped up in other series as well. So this is where my series jumping comes from. LOL :)

message 17: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebecca32) Demonica Series is good....but not as good as BDB.
If you haven't read the Immortal After Dark Series, you would love that if you love BDB.

message 18: by Corazon (new)

Corazon (corazonsliterature) I think Larissa did a very good job with the Demonica series. I love her books and I look forward to Sin's story.

message 19: by Kathy Anne (new)

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) I love Dr E,I reread that book and have only reread the others when new ones come out.
I think there is more and better sex scenes in them than BDB,but I think what I like best are the diff creatures we don`t always see.

message 20: by Brainycat (new)

Brainycat I just started Pleasure Unbound and zipped through 20% of it last night. I came highly recommended to me, and I am enjoying it a lot. I like how the two protagonists are coming together on equal footing; these are two strong characters who are both dangerous to each other and have secrets from each other.

message 21: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) After I am done reading Shadowland (The Immortals, #3) by Alyson Noel I will be reading Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione . the crappy part is Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) by Larissa Ione is not at my library what kind of crap is that???!

It could be worse, they could have not had the first one, but then all the others. :)

message 23: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 0 comments It's not at your library? Bummer! It's a great book too!

Yep I've finished reading these and they are wonderful!

Everyone who has a thing for the BDB should check these out.

message 24: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) Yeah not at my library so now I have to wait until I get money to go buy it, but I am going to wait so I can buy the others as well I can't stand having my series out of whack like that.

message 25: by Akaria (new)

Akaria Gale | 17 comments Oh you poor thing. Wraith's book cannot be missed (and the freebie scene with Wraith and Serena on the website is smoldering)! Send a stern letter to your library!

message 26: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) lol I know right

Melanie (audiobookmel) Becky wrote: "Demonica Series is good....but not as good as BDB.

I agree. I do like the Demonica series, but not as much as BDB. I have not tried Immortal After Dark. I will have to add it to my to-be-read list.

message 28: by Claudia (new)

Claudia | 4 comments I just started the series and love it so far. I am now starting book 2. I hope there will be more about Gem and Kynan. Can't wait to read about Wraith too.

message 29: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Is Sin's book out this month?

message 30: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments You are right Dawn.

message 31: by twinfish2 (new)

twinfish2 | 21 comments I just picked up the new Demonica book SIN UNDONE from my local library. I know I can't believe they got this in a week before it's release date. I love my library, it's the best.

Camille-Dhark Nytmhare I LOVE WALMART! Sin Undone is available today for a great price! Just got my copy along with Kresley Cole's Demon From the Dark. They look like they have most August 24 releases available!

message 33: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments This is silly but I cannot decide if I should get the ebook because well it make more sense or if I should buy the paperback? I mean I have all of the others in paperback it seems only fair I have the last book too. Right?

Is it weird that that this is even and issue??

Thanks for the heads up about Demon from the Dark, I mean I just finished Pleasure of a Dark Prince. This is he benefit of being behind in a series you catch up and the tada here is another :-)

message 34: by Mrs. (new)

Mrs. Badass (mrsbadass) | 28 comments LOVED Sin's book :) Great conclusion to the series.

I really enjoy Larissa's writing style

message 35: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay, seeing everyone post about this is making me want to read this series. If I get bored with a focus on romance would I like this series? I like BDB and I liked the first 5 books in the Breed series by Adrian (trying to think of PNR books that I liked, I usually prefer UF). I do like romance and steamy sex ... just not if romance and HEA is the entire focus. I got bored with LOTU by Showalter ..... so should I read the first one in this series?

message 36: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Regina I would say go for it. To me these books have a different spin on PNR. I actually prefer urban fantasy to PNR but I love these books. It is like urban fantasy with erotica LOL.

message 37: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh that does sound interesting! I will give it a try. Thank you.

message 38: by Shannon (new)

Shannon C. I just finished 'Sin Undone' and it was AWESOME! It was a terrific mix of action, suspense, mystery and romance. Great leading characters and supporting cast. There were humorous, light moments as well as some tearjerkers.

The Demonica series started as a very good paranormal romance series, but it turned GREAT with the last book (#4). At the time I read 'Ecstacy Unveiled' I thought it was Larissa Ione's best work to date. Ione delivered another winner--'Sin Undone' is just as strong as the last book. This is the best PNR I've read in a while.

I am looking forward to Ione's new spin off series Lords of Deliverance, featuring the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. The first book Eternal Rider will be out March 2011. I heard that the Demonica characters will make appearances in the new series. Can't wait!

message 39: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Thanx Shannon!
I am reading sin undone tomorrow so excited!!
I just heard about her new series and I am sure it will be awesome.

So true Shannon! What an AWESOME read!! I have not felt such an emotional roller coaster ride in a while from reading. Great surprises and I loved where the author takes us..emotionally, mentally, and sexually. Larissa's writing just gets more complex as she introduces more fascinating characters.

The series has gotten better since the 1st book. And I loved the first one. Regina I think you will love this series as much as I do.

message 41: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I requested it from the library. Now I can't wait!

Lori {Romancing the Dark Side} (romancingthedarkside) | 58 comments A satisfying ending to to this series! Larissa really outdid herself with this one. It had everything: romance, betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness. Sin and Con are just explosive...loved every minute of it! I loved how Con was able to break down Sin's wall and helped her shed all of the rage and pain she harbored inside for so long. They gave each other hope and a second chance at life. Seeing them all get their happy endings was what we all hoped for and Larissa did not disappoint! This book might be my new favorite in the series...sorry Wraith, you'll always be my fave.. but I really must say Con gave you a run for your money in this one! Thanks Larissa for introducing us to these unbelievable characters and for giving us this unforgettable series!

message 43: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments (nodding my head @ Lori) I am so in agreement!

Can I also say how cool is it that Con is a mix of werewolf and vampire. I mean wow yum!

Lori {Romancing the Dark Side} (romancingthedarkside) | 58 comments Yeah he's the best of both worlds...but I have to stay faithful to my fave brother, Wraith ;)

message 45: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments My favorite is still E.

Donna (BLHmistress) (BLHmistress) | 11 comments She is definitely a must read and must buy in my book

message 48: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Payne (georgiep) | 18 comments okay what I have gleaned from this discussion is that I need to read some BDB and also this demonica series. I have the first book of the psy changeling book. It seemed intriguing but at the same time it did come across from the first couple of pages to be like all the books out there.

message 49: by Brandee (new)
