Any thread, even from the unseen (more discussions area) can be reawakened. A post made there will bring it back up.
Enjoy the group!
Thanks for the warm welcomes, Janny and Sandra. I'll be sure to review the Riftwar Saga and Empire discussion threads.
Hello Group. I'm From Toronto and I have been looking at expanding my Author base I have been a Long lover of Ian Irving and have read all of his books. So looking forward to getting new authors to my database.
Hi! My name is Aparna. I just found goodreads. Looking forward to being here with fellow readers. To start off, I absolutely love historical novels, scifi and books that are steeped in fantasy, magic and myth. I feel like I've been transported to another world.Just finished reading a children's fantasy called Six Weeks To Yehidah by Melissa Studdard. It's a fantastic read! It was released on amazon last week.
Looking forward to being here. Thanks!
Hello, I'm Heidi. A few years ago I started my fantasy book obsession with The Wheel of Time, and then read the Malazan Books of the Fallen. I like to read both sci-fi and fantasy, also historical fiction and funny stuff too. (Like author Christopher Moore, he's ridiculous). I'm so excited to talk to you guys about my obsession with the Malazan books though, with people who share the same love of fantasy!
Hi all, nice to see such a great following for fantasy! I'm a lover of all grand sagas with epic battles and gray morals, with thousand page books that keep going on for ever and ever. Martin, Erikson, Glen Cook, Jordan, I love em all!
Anyway, some nice reading going on here. Looks like this will be fun!
Hi guys - I've been a member for a few weeks now so thought I'd say hi. I'm Beth and I'm from West Sussex in the UK. I love fantasy novels and my favourite authors are Robin Hobb and Terry Brooks. My favourite book is The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake. I'm currently reading A Princess of Landover, but my main challenge for this year is to finish reading every Raymond E Feist book in order (I'm reading them every other book to avoid Feist overload!). I've just finished Into a Dark Realm.
Hi there, I'm Nick, from Hertfordshire in the UK. I joined this site in the last week after discovering that the LivingSocial Visual Bookshelf was gone (and all my reading history with it damnit!), and have to say if I'd known about this place first I wouldn't have bothered with LivingSocial at all. I am a big fantasy fan, particularly when it comes to the multi-volume-epic kind of fantasy. I'm hoping to get recommendations here for good epic length sagas and to discuss the ones I've already ploughed through with people who loved them as much as I did.
Hi Nick.Well I am going to get in first, because I have the ideal recommendation. Given your interest in Fantasy and what appears a love affair with history of battle.
The Malazan series. Starting with Gardens of the Moon, now it ticks the following box:
Epic length - er yep, 10 books, plus another 4 from a co author
It has many many battles, although most are not very tactical, and there is absolutely nothing glamourous about them, they tend to be harsh, blood thirsty and miserable. So pretty real then eh?
If you become addicted to Malazan, you become absorbed in an entire world with many races and hundreds of characters. You'll also find a few more friends on here willing to talk about Malazan any time of the day.
Let me know if you join the Malazan Train Nick.

I'll piggy-back on what Lee said and add there are currently 2 readings that are ongoing in the Fantasy reading group and you can climb aboard either readings at any point and join in! If you are indeed into LARGE and complex series' them the Malazan Book of the Fallen is for you!!!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi, I joined the sister group yesterday after noticing it on a different fantasy group, then this was suggested. I couldn't resist, so many of my favs and I've been dying to do a Hobb re-read.So, I'm Helen and I live in North England, hi!
Hello everyone. I've been a member of the Fantasy Book Club group for a while and have had some interesting discussions so I thought I'd come on over here as well. My name's Liz and I hail from Derbyshire in the UK.
I'm afraid my reading habits are pretty narrow - fantasy is about it! It's difficult to say who my favourite authors are because I like just about anything fantastical. However, I think the Malazan series is truly awesome (I'm planning on giving myself an Autumn treat by re-reading them all). I also like Robert Jordan (well, before he lost the plot from book 8 onwards) George RR. Martin, Stephen Donaldson, Robin Hobb, Katherine Kerr.....I'll stop there otherwise this will be a very long post!
Hello everyone :) I'm a member of the FBC but after noticing that the Robin Hobb Fareseer trilogy is listed on here as the current read for the next few months I joined as I have had the book sitting on my book shelf since Christmas time and it gives me an excuse for finally picking it up :) So I'm Becca, 19, from Wales, UK and an English Lit student. I absolutely love fantasy, The Lord of the Rings being my favourite book ever, along with all of Tolkien's works. I am currently reading A Dance with Dragons and have thoroughly enjoyed the series; over half way to go on the book so am aiming to finish it by the weekend so before boring university books take over I will take up this groups read for the month :)

Hi Everyone, My name is Reanna and I've been reading pretty much anything I could get my hands on since I was little. Some of my first books, besides early readers (which I grew out of quickly), were a combination of Stephen King, science fiction, and fantasy.
I've been sticking with paranormal fiction for the last few years and want to get back to my fantasy roots so to speak. I don't have a lot of time, but I read every chance I get. Even if it is only for 5 mins here and 30 mins there. =)
I'm currently reading Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and Harry Potter. I believe that my next series will most likely be the Discworld series because 1) I have the books and 2) the reviews have been really positive.
Hi there. Just joined. Live in British Columbia. I've read the Farseer trilogy 3 times now and have already finished Ian C. Esslemont books and the Erikson's books (except for the Crippled God)
Hello, all! I just joined and am very excited to see all of the sci-fi/fantasy books that everyone is reading. I have been out of the loop for a while, but hope to see some suggestions for new books to read. Can't wait to catch up on everything I have missed.
Hey all. I'm from Boston and I've been reading SF & F most of my life. Looking forward to sharing some words about the books I love.

Hello all, Supposed I should introduce myself, I'm from Colorado Springs and right now I'm reading The Unremembered by Peter Orullian. I'm glad to find this forum, thought I was all alone out here! I've never read anything from R. Feist, but I will definitely be putting that on my to-read list.
I've been a Shannara nerd for a long time, but finished a book called Nights Of Villjamur not too long ago by Mark Charan Newton - it was very good, a very immersive world.
Well take care everyone! I'll be joining the discussion - D

Hello, My name is Rosie and I live in Clearwater, Florida. I absolutely love to read fantasy books.
I started reading fantasy in high school when I stumbled upon a book in a store with a pretty purple cover.... Yay, I know. That book was Sword of Shannara and the Elfstones of Shannara and it was my very first fantasy read. I fell in love!
As I was in the middle of the book, a teacher of mine noticed I was really into the book and wanting to read more fantasy, so she stopped by my house later that week and dropped off 2 banana boxes full of her old fantasy books from when she was in high school. I haven't looked back since and I rarely read anything but fantasy. I just can't tear myself away.
Anyway, as I said, my name is Rosie and I am really looking forward to learning some new fantasy series and talking with others who are just as excited about them as I am. :)
