Hey everyone I’ve had a bunch of reviews up and I don’t know why it just dawned on me but I realized that I don’t have a rating system. So I kind of brainstormed one yesterday and it needs a little tweaking but I think it’ll do for now. My system starts at a 5 and goes down to 0 with .5’s. Let me know what you think or if you think it needs anything since it still needs some work. So here’s my system. Oh and before you read it I just wanted to say that some of the books I reviewed should be changed based on this system but I won’t go change them on their reviews. I may put them on here after this post. Another thing I wanted to say quickly was that I will try to stick to this system as best as I can but there may be some books that are exceptions to these ratings but I will let you know why that is in the review. Okay, now here are my ratings

5-I absolutely loved this book! This is a book that usually earns a spot on my favorite bookshelf. The story kept me reading throughout the night with a flashlight under my bed. You should drop everything and anything you’re doing and run to your local bookstore, library, or your nearest computer to go buy this book!

4.5-This book is pretty much the same as a five except there was a little something that just didn’t make it a five and didn’t make it to my favorite bookshelf for one reason or another. This book was still really good and I highly recommend it.

4-This book was still good but there are some things that I feel should be changed whether it’s a character, a few scenes, or the overall plot. Or it may have been that this book kept me wanting more. Kind of like I finished the book and thought to myself “Wow, is that really it?”. In this case I’ll use the example of the last book in The Series of Unfortunate Events. I read the whole series and throughout the whole series there were many questions that I wanted answered and at the end they just…well…they weren’t answered. I was disappointed. Overall still a good read and I recommend it.

3.5-I was glad that I read this book but there are things that I felt needed to be changed. The book was still good but I’m not sure I’d recommend it for everyone.

3-For me this book is on the line of good and ok. It’s lacking in areas such as characters or plot. This book really didn’t keep you needing to read it. In other words it was easy to put it down and not come back to it for a while.

2.5-The book left me wanting more. It left me wanting more, not in a good way. It left me disappointed.

2-This book needs improvement. This book felt to me, like a little bit of trick, with the book starting good and ending bad or something like that.

1.5-This book was on the line of ok and bad. It really needs some improvement and was kind of boring or stayed the same throughout the book with the exception of a few good parts in the book. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this book to many people if at all.

1-This book I really wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
.5-This book was bad and a waste of time to read.

0-Run away screaming from your bookstore or library when you see it/burn it on the spot. It was really terrible and I don’t know why anyone would want to publish this book let alone read it. If you see anyone with this book immediately take it from them and throw it in the garbage. Okay, maybe don’t go to those extremes just know it’s really terrible.

Okay, like I said it still needs some improvement but I thought I’d get it up there. Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas.

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) ooh yeah I like the classifications and what each number means, I'll go with that:)

Also I find I tend to rate most boks highly;( MaybeI'm easy to please or I'm just thankful to have something to read ;p

No I'm the exact same way. I highly doubt I'll ever rate anything lower than a 3.5, and that's low for me. Everything will probably be a 4 or up but you never know.(Maybe I'm just easy to please too, lol)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) the lowest I've ever given was a 2, and now I've even got doubts about giving that score ;p What was your lowest rated book? Mine was uhmm Jonothan Livingston Seagull, interesting, I get the whole idea of the book, but waay to yawnsome;p

Well I haven't been reviewing books for very long so mine was probably a 4 and that's still high. I have read some books though that I plan on reviewing and giving a 3.5 or 3 rating.

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) such as, for example?

Off of the top of my head, and this is totally opinion, but I would give Fallen by Lauren Kate a 3 or 3.5 and the same with Beastly by Alex Finn. I know lots of people really like those books but there were some things that I really didn't like and/or there were things I would have changed.

I was thinking about reading Fallen, do you recommend it or no?

Yes, actually, I do recomend it. I liked it and was glad that I read it but there were other books about agnels that came out and were a lot better, such as Hush Hush. I still enjoyed it but there were some things that I would have changed. In my opinion, there was a lot of the same stuff happening in a sort of cycle. I hope that didn't give anything away. If you want to read it go for it! I did like it and I will read the Torment.

Stephanie (stephaniee) Okay, I was actually going to get Hush Hush from my library too. Haha, so I'll just get both. Wish me luck! :)

Yes, get Hush Hush! It's an amazing book! One of my absolute favorites! Good luck! I hope they're both there for you!
