Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Sign up here if you are interested in joining our 4th bookmark swap. We'll close sign-ups for this round on June 30th.

These are the rules:

1. You make or buy a bookmark themed around your own personal favorite YA book (but handmade is way cool!)
2. Have fun and be creative!!! How you represent your book on your bookmark is totally and completely up to you.
3. You are responsible for shipping your bookmark to your swap person at your own expense NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JULY 16TH! Be prepared to possibly send it out of the country.
4. Open your new bookmark as a group on FRIDAY, JULY 23RD!
5. Take a picture of the bookmark you receive to share with the group!

The goal is pretty much to just share a book you love in an unique way. Feel free to message me your address in the meantime if you'd like, I will hang onto it and confirm your spot in the swap here.

Thanks for participating! :-)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 191 comments We only have 9 days to do our bookmark if we sign up for round 4?

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Oh...no, my error. It's supposed to be a bit over two weeks. I corrected the dates.

message 4: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I'll do round four- I am still on summer break at this point :)

Tentative sign-up. I'll confirm by the 24th!

message 10: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I'm in... I wasn't sure if I could do this round because my brother's wedding/my vacation falls right around then (July 14-21) but I've already decided what I'm going to do, so I can have it ready in advance. :D

Caroline Havenhand | 88 comments Count me in too!
I'm getting waay too addicted to these! xD

Was tempted to make and send round 3's bookmark before we've opened 2, but I couldn't be that mean to my recipient :p

So we're back to doing our favourites?

message 12: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I think we've decided to alternate rounds so that every other one will be the maker's choice.

Caroline Havenhand | 88 comments Ahh, I see. That's cool

message 14: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments FINE!!! I wasn't going to do it but I like getting the goodies in the mail!

message 15: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments I think we should keep doing different themes. It makes it interesting.

OR

Maybe we can just MAKE a bookmark on anything other than a book...(ie: Animals, colors, etc...??)

message 16: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments In my bookclub we did whatever and here are the results.

message 17: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I like the idea of themes, not only because it forces us to be creative, but because it gives us a starting point. The allure of having every other exchange be the sender's choice, is that we will get participants who would otherwise not have the confidence to join. If they want, they can sit out every other exchange. It's kind of a compromise, and the best of both worlds.

message 18: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I like themes too. But I'm with Donna in thinking that we should change the themes up. We could just go down the line of the themes we voted on for round 4 and use the runner-ups.

I think doing themes every other month helps keep the swap from being too much work or the fear of the unknown too great! It's nice to be able to do a book you already know and love, and then stretching for a book you may not have considered before.

message 19: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments We could also judge a book by it's cover and do one we never read but design it base don the cover itself.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Donna wrote: "We could also judge a book by it's cover and do one we never read but design it base don the cover itself."

That is a FANTASTIC idea!! I really want to do that. :D

message 21: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments Gee thanks! I thought it out as I wrote it LOL

message 22: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I'm half doing that already! :P

message 23: by Amy (new)

Amy Great idea! Of course depending on what book we do, I'd probably have to read it after the fact to see if what I think it's about is true.

That would be cool! Or maybe Before and After bookmarks...!

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments LOL I like that too! Round 4 - book cover and round 5 -book review! We are on to something!!!

message 26: by Amy (new)

Amy ooh, before and after. I like.

message 27: by Anne (new)

Anne Amundson (iswallowedthesnitch) I love the book cover one! I actually already have a book in mind that I would love to do that for! I might read it soon, though.... And I love the review idea and the before and after one!!!

message 28: by Shae (new)

message 29: by Anne (new)

Anne Amundson (iswallowedthesnitch) I'll join in, too, by the way!

message 31: by Anne (new)

Anne Amundson (iswallowedthesnitch) So are we sticking to the favorite books this time or are we going to switch it up?

message 32: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) This is a favorites round. Round 5 will be a themed one again... Not sure what the theme will be yet.

message 33: by Usako (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Hey I'm in! This is soooo fun!! This one is maker's choice right?

message 36: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Oh just looked up and saw that someone else asked the same question - LOL - so now I know the answer! Thanks Anne!!

message 37: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 74 comments I wish I had a lamenation machine!

message 38: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Tanja wrote: "I wish I had a lamenation machine!"

They aren't that expensive to get one which laminates 8 1/2 by 11 paper.

I have one, but I left it at work for the summer. I have to decide if I want to go get it or not....

message 39: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I might invest in a lamination machine... I think that they are only $25 or something at Wally World. (Not that I like shopping there... *cough*) but I like making bookmarks and it would be a cool investment. :)

message 40: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I only paid $25 for mine thru Amazon. Totally worth it.

message 41: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 191 comments I kind of want to do this one, but I am still working on the one for round 3...and so many bookmarks running through my head will cause me to go insane I fear >.<

message 42: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm having a hard time with the round three one. I did one then trashed it cause I didn't like the finished product, so back to the drawing board. I think I do better when it's a free choice. I have round four's mark already planned out.

message 43: by Rita (new)

Rita Webb (ritawebb) | 183 comments I'm in!

message 44: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I agree Amy - it is so much easier when you know the book inside and out! I am so excited about this round!

message 45: by Amy (new)

Amy Well the book I'm using for round three, I know really well but for some reason just can't come up with something I really like!

message 46: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Yeah it is so annoying how at the most important of times our minds will just go blank! I can NEVER think of what I want passed to me at the dinner table. I have called guacamole "that green stuff" hundreds of times . . .

message 47: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 191 comments I decided that I am in for another round. I want to try out a my choice one and see how I do with that. Round three is hard, but I already have ideas going around my head for some of my favorite books =)

message 48: by Kellee (last edited Jun 21, 2010 02:41PM) (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Angela-Go ahead and count me out.
Duing this time I am going to visit my grandfather so won't have time to make a bookmark.
Sorry. :(
After doing the 3rd round, I actually liked making them too.

message 49: by Stefne (new)

Stefne Miller (stefnemiller) | 5 comments I'm not the least bit artistic, but I'm in awe of this wonderful idea! I do like to scrapbook and I have tons of supplies, maybe I can play around and see if I can come up with something. Now to try to pick my favorite book . . . . so many to choose from!
Where do you post the photos of your bookmarks once you receive them? I'm also needing to create a bookmark for my YA novel that was released last month and I may use some of your ideas to try to create one of my own. Do you make them a standard size or leave that up to part of the creativity process? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm crazy about this idea and may "borrow" it for my website and create a contest.

message 50: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments I am picking a book based on what I have. I read it and thought it was OK but I know many other people have loved it so....
