Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments It made me freak out at the thought of Curran getting beat in the first round.

Wendes | 188 comments Yeah the thought barely works in my head. It's CURRAN

message 53: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments Haha. The only way that I can possibly figure for Curran losing is that a lot of people are yet to discover the greatness that is the Kate Daniels series.

Wendes | 188 comments Very true. When I found this series I really felt like I'd been missing out for a long time XD

message 55: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments YES! Me too!!!! I was like, why the hell didn't I read this earlier? And the thing was I seriously started hearing about only a month ago. I added it to my to-read and like read it Magic Bites a week or so later.

Wendes | 188 comments Like everything about the books were amazing =D Plotline, characters, dialogue, setting, KD had it ALL

message 57: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments And Kate's "world", can't forget that. Before I read KD I thought that the Mortal Instruments had the best aforementioned elements but Ilona Andrews now dominates.

Wendes | 188 comments Her concept with the magic and technology fluctulating is really cool and new. I really love the idea of it all

message 59: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments Yeah, it's original in the extreme

Wendes | 188 comments Do you read a lot of Urban Fantasy? Anything fresh and good your recommend? Doesn't have to be Urban Fantasy actually, anything works =)

message 61: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments Hmmm, I'm not that great at recommending, but...you might like Red-Headed Stepchild. The first chapter really grabbed my attention. The protagonist, Sabina, an assassin, just killed her life long best friend. On purpose. And she's digging his grave.
I liked The Strange Power, The Possessed, The Passion.
And then I really liked the first two books Bitten and Stolen in the Women of the Otherworld series.

So..yeah =D

Wendes | 188 comments Cool, I'll check those out =)
Do you like romance fantasy? Because if you do, one of my all time favs is the Tairen Soul Series by C. L. Wilson. There's 5 books and they're amazing

message 63: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments I think the best books are romantic actions with paranormal or fantasy elements. I never really read realistic fiction.

Cool, I'll look at them!

Wendes | 188 comments Yeah they're totally awesome =)

message 65: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between is also pretty good, though I read it a long time ago so I can't remember the specifics.

Wendes | 188 comments Cool, I'll check it out ;)

message 67: by Dani (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dani Marescotti (dani15) | 168 comments Hope you like 'em, lol

Wendes | 188 comments Thanks =)

Irene (joetal) | 5 comments I LOVED this book...all of it...romance & plot!

Didn't anyone else find it funny that HELD HIS BLADDER FOR 11 DAYS STRAIGHT, ALL WHILE IN A COMA! Only in a book...LOL! When they mentioned he hated the IV, Andrews should have included a quick mention of hating a catheter as well and had him rip one out! I guess that would've dampened the romantic effect for the reader I'm sure...I work in a medical field so it's funny to me.

The pranks in this book are hilarious…i.e. office chair. The timing was good comic relief from the conflict between them in the beginning of the book and then THANK GOD…what happened after he said "Do you miss me, Kate?" Finally...I'm a sucker for the romantic pull of a book! The authors didn't overdue the sex though cause after that the focus was on developing their intimacy, friendship and conflic resolution.

Loved what Kate did in her very first Council Meeting! It's why I love her so much...her spunk and loyalty make me smile.

I agree she has to get over herself and team up with her buddy!

I wonder what happened in the book about Raphael & Andrea and where it left off. Someday I'll have to read it.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I finished the book and loved it but there were a few things that bugged me.

I loved

- that we got more info on Kate's past. Her aunt is some scary and crazy chick but still interesting. I love how Andrews mixes her mythology with our history/mythology.

- that there was more info on Pack business. I loved that, even the challenges because it's normal that this happens when the alpha is close to death.

I didn't like

- Kate's childish behavior when she refused to talk with Curran after he explained to her why he didn't show up.

- that the romance was so cliché. I especially hated that the problem of Kate not wanting to move in was conveniently solved by destroying her apartment. I expected Andrews to be... different.

- the boring sex.

As for the next books

- I really hope the romance problem is solved and we can concentrate on the action, Pack politics and Roland!

- I don't want Andrea to leave the Order as well. That would be a boring repetition and it would be too convenient if she just moved to the Keep and worked with Kate.

But like someone else I wonder why Andrea is mad at her? I don't get it.

Btw, Curran said the "You stayed" once and not three times. But maybe I forgot the other times.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I'm not sure exactly what happened with Curran at the end. He wasn't loup, right? Because this can't be healed and he was. Did I miss something?

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Since the topic of everyone close to Kate dying is constantly there, I wonder of one of them (meaning Julie, Curran, Andrea) dies at the end.

Maybe Curran... Don't get me wrong I love him but it would be something unusual and not as predictable as the usual HEA.

Or Kate herself. That would be even more interesting. Her saving everyone and then... dead.

Arushi | 124 comments Oh I am so glad I checked the forum out after I read your comment that you had posted here.

Okay, so I am not gonna go into the likes and dislikes.. we all have our own. But I also loved the mythology and the pack politics. I also love it when Kate does her "professional" speak.. especially when she gets astounded looks in return.. (okay, so maybe i'll just not talk abt the dislikes)

Anywho, as for what your hopes are about the later books.. I loved them.. but anything else might be too much of a spoiler. Sigh.. But the romance does not get amped up. Thank god! I love Kate and Curran together.. but.. they're just more suited to banter.

Okay, so where is Andrea mad at Kate? I don't even remember that.. hummm... If you tell me the context, I'll tell you the why. The only thing I do remember is Andrea going AWOL.. and she does that coz she "took the Order's side over the Pack's" and after that, she simply wants to be alone for a while. Especially sine she is also having a fight with Raphael.

I also remember Curran saying "You stayed." only once. So I went back and read it again. He said it twice. Once when he first woke up, and then again, when he woke up after that small nap he took. Since I dunno what the whole conversation is abt.. shrug.

Arushi | 124 comments Oh.. and I do have the answer to what happened to Curran. Erra scared the animals. So much so, that the first shapeshifters who encountered her went "wild".
Basically, it was a version of that which happened to Curran. The animal came to the forefront to such an extent, that almost all of the human was gone.

There is no recovery from going loup.

As for who will die... I try not to think about it. So I cannot speculate much on that... I like the characters too much. But I admit, that this story has so far proved to be too damned unusual.. so it would make sense for it to not have a regular HEA.

message 76: by Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (last edited Feb 16, 2012 12:19PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Doesn't Kate say in the end that Andrea doesn't call etc.? I found that weird since they are best friends.

The Pack politics are the coolest thing about the books. I hope we get lots more of that now that Kate is living in the Keep. I kind of have a soft spot for Mahon so it'd be great to see more of him.

Thanks for clarifying (sp?) the Curran situation at the end. I thought someone was saying he was going loup so I was a bit WTF about his recovery. LOL

No regular HEA would be so cool! Let's wait and see. There are still some books to go. :-)

Btw, Dali is awesome!

message 77: by Arushi (last edited Feb 16, 2012 12:55PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arushi | 124 comments Yep! Kate does say that, but then Andrea isn't just avoiding Kate. Its dumb (of Andrea) and it'll be explained in the next book.

YOu'll have your wish with the Pack Politics. Plus Kate's verbal smackdowns!
There is also a Curran POV out that features Curran and Mahon mainly. Its called Father and Son and available on IA website. Its the part where Curran wakes up from the coma in Magic Bleeds, though this time we get to see what he actually does to his council.

I think they were worried he was going loup, but they were not sure. Kate knows he isn't, or he would not be protecting her, even though he isn't thinking clearly.

LOL.. yeah I like Dali too! Especially her driving :D and I laughed when she told Kate her driving was Kate's Kryptonite.

There will be at least 2 more books. Plus Andrea's book, and one book for Jim and Dali, even tho they have had their novella (Magic Dreams).

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I wanted to read the Curran POVs after I'm finshed with all the published books/shorts.

Arushi | 124 comments That's what I did, though it was because I only found out about the Curran POV after I had finished all the books. Its up to you. Curran POV III is a spoiler for Magic Slays, but you can read the rest now anytime you want.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Btw, I love that Japanese fox clan. I think it's called Clan Nimble. I love Japanese culture, history etc. and am learning the language. It was so cool when they spoke Japanese.

Arushi | 124 comments Yep, it is called Clan Nimble, but its not just foxes. Its, lynxes, mongoose, and I guess everyone like them.
Have you tried reading Mangas? Some have a huge cultural difference and don't come across the right way, but some are truly excellent reads.

Oh and I am not sure where you asked this Sarah (at least I am mostly sure it was you) but you were wondering how long shifter life span was?
They are Long-lived. It was mentioned, 70 years is middle age (40) to them.. so I would assume 150 or so? Its never exactly specified, but this was what I could gather from the hints.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Cool. Thanks for the info, Arushi.

I read Mangas so I know what you mean.

message 83: by Jax (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jax Hey...

I finally discovered Andrews, and am loving the books so far...
Kate is FANTASTIC, and I love Andrea and Saiman as well... hehehe sexual deviant indeed!

There isn't much I don't like about this series.... other than Curran's overwhelming arrogance.
I get that he's the Alpha ALPHA but still...
It bugs me that he tries to order Kate around - yes, I do understand that he sees her as his future mate - but seriously? She's not part of the pack (yet) and she's not a were... therefore he shouldn't try and impose all pack law and whatnot on her....

Sarah - I agree with you, I was pretty miffed that Kate just gave in and moved in to the Keep when her apartment got trashed... I would've swallowed moving in AFTER Curran's incident better....

Andrea needs to stay with the Order... she'd be more helpful there - she can keep Kate updated on whats happening, while still using her position to get info and benefit everybody.
I wanted to brain Raphael for his tantrum cos she didn't come running at the distress call! And this AFTER she's explained her side of things! I can fully understand her POV...

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Magic Bleeds and it was fantastic.

This series just gets better and better. I love the characters, the humor and the romance.

Kate is officially my favorite UF heroine - love her unique mix of stubbornness, passion and vulnerability and Curran is simple swoon worthy.

Sue (sueshelly) | 8 comments I just started chapter 3 and all I have to say is that Curran better have a pretty damn good reason for not showing up and not calling for 3 weeks now (not to mention the "go through channels" message). He comes through big time from the sounds of the thread, but I'd have a hard time coming back from that....

Lauren (laurenjberman) Don't worry, Sue. There is an explanation for every thing. I was also concerned at this point in the book but in the back of my mind I knew that things weren't as they seemed.

Aarati | 9 comments Lauren's right Sue. There is a good reason. There is also a Curran POV on why he missed the dinner. Curran; On the Day of the Panty Dinner (Curran POV, #6) by Gordon Andrews

Colleen | 1 comments I have yet to find another series as well written and entertaining as this one. Kate Daniels world is just awesome.

I think I'll reread it, again. :)

Sue (sueshelly) | 8 comments I've been reading speculative fiction pretty rabidly for several years. I tried Magic Bites in 2009 and couldn't get into it. Tried again with new perspective a few weeks ago and I'm officially OBSESSED woth thos series!! Tnink it might even be a little unhealthy. Wonder where I can find a Curran roar for a ringtone....

Aarati | 9 comments even wen i first started reading Magic Bites, I couldn't get into it. But once I got to the point where Kate met Curran for the first time, I couldn't stop. I first read this series in dec 2012. Since then I have all read read it thrice. I guess I am suffering from Kate and Curran syndrome, and it's spreading like a cancer. And I LOVE it!!

Lauren (laurenjberman) Sue wrote: "Wonder where I can find a Curran roar for a ringtone.... "

oooh, I'd love one of those :0)

message 94: by Sue (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sue (sueshelly) | 8 comments Does anyone know if there is anything written about the details about what supposedly happened to Curran that stopped him from getting to "the dinner"? I've read all of the Curran POV's, the short stories, some fanfic, etc. in the last 3 days and it's starting to run together. I'm thinking I did but I literally could have dreamed it......

Lauren (laurenjberman) @Sue - POV #6 begins the series of events that occurred that night from Curran's perspective. It is part 1 and Gordon is working on the second part. Hopefully, it will soon be posted on the blog.

Here's the link to part one On the day of the panty party

Thanks! I was thinking I somehow "lost" the rest of those details. Nice to know I'm not completely losing it.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Nope, you haven't lost anything :0)

It can be confusing because the POVs do jump backwards and forwards a bit.

message 98: by Sue (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sue (sueshelly) | 8 comments Finished Magic Bleeds. I always said that of the 700+ UF / PNR / SFF books I've read that the KMM Fever series were my favorites. Well not anymore. They have now officially been supplanted. Magic Bleeds was THE BEST! Action, humor, politics, and (OMG) the best love story ever.

Makes me glad I didn't know about the Alpha Challenge at the time. Back then I probably would have voted for Barrons. But now I most certainly know better!!

what?! no! if either Kate or Curran got killed off later in the series, I will feel so damn cheated emotionally for following this series for years.
