A couple of other UF series out there that y'all might like! In order by series #. (I'm sure most of these are known but who knows!)Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson Series:
Patricia Briggs Alpha & Omega Series:
Rob Thurman Leandros Brothers series:
Chloe Neill Chicagoland Series:
Mmmm, just off the top of my head, I'd say:Jeanine Frost's Cat and Bones series:
Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series
(I so can't bring myself to post all the books... I think there are 12, currently)
Jennifer Rardin's Jaz Parks series
I second Chicagoland! Humor, drama and relationships with edge. I think I'll check out Jaz Parks. :)
Oh I love Frost's series! And I have had the first book in the Jaz Park's series sitting on my bookshelf for so long now! I really need to get around to that one!
It is a lot of fun. Jaz is an ass-kicker, and the book is also reeeeeeally funny. I picked up the first 3 Mercy Thompson books... looking forward to checking them out!
I haven't read Ilona Andrews but I did enjoy these UF series.Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer & Dorina Basarab series:
~
Lilith Saintcrow's Jill Kismet series:
L. A. Banks Vampire Huntress Legends series(the first book suffers a great deal from "1st in series" syndrome but the others are pretty good):
Definitely Chicagoland Series!!I second Karen Chance's.
I liked Frost's up to a point (somewhere during the third book) I still haven't read no. 4.
I have the first of the Mercy Thompson's.
And I'm going to check all the rest :)
Ooooh, yeah, I have read Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series. I like it! I haven't checked out the other one, though. Hmmmm, more books to shop for, yay!
I think out of all the ones mentioned so far I have enjoyed them all but I never could get into the Cassie Palmer series.I read the first was and was so confused and just didn't like it so I never read any after that.
The Kates are my fave UF series, but my other faves are both of Karen Chance's series, Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires & Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. And another of my top fave series is Ann Aguirre's Sirantha Jax. It's sci-fi, but it reads very much like a UF.
Katyana wrote: "Ooooh, yeah, I have read Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series. I like it! I haven't checked out the other one, though. Hmmmm, more books to shop for, yay!"Katyana I think that Dory's books are even better than Cassie's!
Bry, you should give it another try. I think it's worth it :)
LMAO! Perfect!Probably IS a lot more butter around than we all thought there was! I love Dawn French. ( Jennifer Saunders too).
Do you guys wach Jam and Jerusalem?
I really like: Linda Robertson's Persephone Alcemedi series:
, as well as Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series!
Linda Robertson's books were great! I loved Seph. And Jane Yellowrock was pretty good too.Karen Moning's Fever Series is pretty amazing, but cliffhangers.. Oh the cliffhangers. Pfffffft!
Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series
i really need to get to this series, since the end of the year is comming up soon. hopefully sometime in 2011 i have time for this series.

Many of the ones suggested already would be at the top of my list, I would also give a second (or third) recommendation for Mercy Thompson by Briggs the Fever series by Moning, and definitely the Downside Ghosts series by Kane. All are strong UF series. Here are the firsts in the series:
I so agree. :) I would say the Dreamfever series and Downside Ghosts series are tied for my most favorite UF series. Second would be Kate Daniels and Mercy Thompson, but they are are a distant second. Not because they are not worth reading, they are, I love those series. I just put Dreamfever and Downside Ghosts on an UF pedastal. :)

what's downside ghosts about?

Ghosts now murder people and there is an organization/government/religious entity that "protects" people. The main character is a witch for this entity and fights ghosts. She is also very insecure, abused as a child and as a result she is a drug addict. The book doesn't glorify drug abuse but her addiction and need is a battle that the character has to deal with. It is UF with some sex and romance. Sex in every book (not alot) but romance (light and subtle oh and frustrating) that is resolved with a sort of anti-hero in book 3. Very interesting mystery, magic and adventures in each of the first three books. 4 is due out fall 2011 I think. Then a 5th and final one on 2012. No cliffhangers.

oh, thank god. no cliffhangers! moning has killed me a little but wit each of her fever series books wit her cliffhangers...haha. ill add this to my TBR shelf and look into it.
Both of Briggs series (Mercy and Alpha & Omega) are awesome. Love the Dresden Files by Butcher and the Chicagoland Vampires series by Neill.
I am so happy the last fever book is coming out because I loved the series but the cliff hangers really irritated me so I quit until the series is over. Yeah now I can catch up :-)I totally agree about the Faith Hunter series but I would also add Seanan McGuire

Regina, after your recommendation I will just have to take it up again.
I'd third, fourth, fifth, whatever Mercy Thompson series. Its probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite UF series, with Kate Daniels being first, lol, and Dresden being 2/3. I'll have to read some of the recommendations. Read Dresden, Hollows/Rachel Morgan (I'd recommend that as well), Alpha & Omega, Mercy Thompson, Vampire Acedemy, Cal Leandros, Twilight (somewhat unfortunately, lol). I keep finding myself re-reading Kate Daniels so I really need a new series to read, lol. If I had to read one which would you guys recommend?

Honestly I think all of the books you suggested are good. I am partial to Mercy Thompson and Rachel Morgan
Happy Reading!
Picked up the Fever series. Probably start it sometime this weekend. Need to read through a few articles for PoliSci and Philosophy though first. I've disregarded them for other series enough already, haha.
I haven't given Mercy Thompson a go yet (can't really explain why) but I love Alpha and Omega.I'd also second G. A. Aiken's series about the dragons and her series as Shelly Laurenston about the shapeshifters. I wouldn't necessarily say they are a lot like Kate Daniels but they are definitely fun to read.
