It's just some publicity stunt since her finale Breaking Dawn was a total disaster. No, IS a total disaster.

I just want to see why you care.

Oh okay. I get tired bitching over Twilight (I type too much). I just found your other comment really really random.

Wow. You type like I do when I am drunk-facebooking my friends. Half the time, it doesn't make sense either.
And hon, acronyms are okay when you use them sparingly. However, in this group we are trying to maintain a scholarly discussion. So please, talk [type:] like a human being or we won't even bother with you.
Also, ever hear of a run-on sentence? Because you've got it down pat.

Frankly, no one sees why you should be here. Unless you have some valid, sane, decent, and intellectual reason for your presence (and/or your love for Twilight), we all think it best you leave.
And I agree with Jennifer. We try to post our thoughts here. Sensible thoughts.
And just in case you didn't notice, most of what we said is dripping with sarcasm. Just so you know.

mine either

It is because they underestimate the power of the Dark Side. . .

And Ali, I thought you left already. Stop threatening to leave and actually do so if you want to. No one here is going to stop you.

your leaving?

Actually, if you read our discussions--as in, our actual discussions and not our fun little rants about the characters--then you'll find we're doing anything but trash talking Twilight. We go over points of the book that we don't like and we go into detail about why we dislike it. Rarely does anyone sit around just yelling, "I hate Bella! I don't know why but I hate her!!!!"
We're a little more intelligent than your fellow Twi-lovers probably lead you to believe (intelligent enough not to join and rant about something we love in a group that hates that thing we love, that is). ;-P

Yeah we know that interview. We've discussed it ages ago. and... hmm... I WISH I have read an article when she replies. I really want to know what she'd say, alas, I don't know if she actually did.

Ah, well I only joined this group a few weeks ago so I missed that discussion. She's probably too much of a wimp to try to stand up for herself.
I'm glad I joined this group though. *looks pointedly at Ali* its nice to be able to discuss this book with rational adults.

I can't? Funny... Isn't that exactly what you fans are always doing...? ;-P I don't do things just to be doing them, hun. I have my reasons. And it's fun to hear fans respond to things like this because of the hypocracy. XD
And if you hate this group so much, why did you join it in the first place? Did you think it'd be fun to pester us, perhaps thinking we'd come back at you like rabid maniacs? That's usually most fans' reasoning, but it's really quite a stupid one... For future reference, don't join a hate group about something you love because in your own words, "it's pointless!"

Iza. Do you have split-personality disorder? One comment you were putting up a good case for Twilight, and the next you posted something stupidly unreasonable.
I understand that fiction is a wonderful alternative to reality. But people in this group have standards . Not to mention, Twilight's becoming an opium of stupidity. It's a literary failure and we'd rather spend our lifetimes reading something better like Eoin Colfer or something. Or at least I would :P

Darn, not yet. But Twihards have been defending her. They say the following:
1. Stephen King is jealous (WTF?!? Jealous of her army of fans?)
2. He wants to make some comeback through a scandal
3. He wants to draw attention back to himself. (I laughed my ass at this one.)
Some have admitted that they think Meyer sucks, but simply like the story (or fantasizing themselves in the story) too much. I'm glad some people are honest enough.
That's all I've heard from now. I personally wanted Anne Rice to scold her, but King beat her to it.

If you ask me his comment was really reserved. He said she can't write worth a darn. If they had asked me I would not have been so polite. There would have been a few expletives. And at least he remained diplomatic by pointing out that its good she's getting kids to read (though in my opinion Twilight is hazardous to mental health).
I've read some stuff by King. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but since he is the first public figure to point out what we have been trying to communicate all along, he is officially my hero.
Mr. King, I take off my hat to you, sir.

Of course she ca..."
Aah, that is true. If they all came to their senses tomorrow, she'd be up shit creek without a paddle.

Artemis Fowl is great if you like smart, evil, criminal masterminds, LOTS of wit, intellect and sarcasm and overall fantasy. There's much action and also a lot of environmental innuendo. Colfer's a great contemporary writer. True-to-life, non-sparkly characters, a brilliantly distinct writing style, captivating plots and overall awesomeness.
I'd suggest this for sci-fi fans.

She's probably looking up her thesaurus to make phrases like "a paroxysm of giggles".
P.S. Said phrase is actually in Eclipse. -__-

I tried Artemis once... Didn't really like it but that's my own personal tastes. The writing is actually pretty good.
Oh, and "a paroxysm of giggles"? What page is that on? I didn't get far enough to find this gem! XD

"
And people who love the books don't need to criticize and bash people who don't. I'm not saying you are doing that, it's an 'in general' thing. If someone even remotely hints at not liking the books, Twihards go all batsh*t insane on them.

The difference is that most fans of Twilight take it too far. There are some fans that are making Twilight their complete life. The do nothing but eat, sleep, drink, and crap Twilight. Girls dumping boyfriends because they're not "Edward" enough. Adult women fantasizing about Edward and telling husbands they would leave them if 'an Edward' came along. Some moms neglecting their children to read, re-read the books and watch that idiotic movie. It goes too far when the die-hards try to censor other people's opinions, when those opinions don't match their own. The die-hard Twihards get butthurt really easy.
There is nothing wrong with liking a fantasy books. There is nothing wrong with wanting to escape to that world and leave the worries of reality behind.
I wish that Hogwarts was real and that magic did exist. But I don't spend every waking moment fantasizing about it, and I don't make it the center of my life.
A LOT of the Twilight fans are taking that far, to a point of unhealthy obsession.

I would love to hear a comment from JKR about these books. After all, Twilight and HP are compared constantly, and so are JKR and SM.

Hm... Maybe someone should publicly ask Rowling about that. ^^
And I'm not really a fan of Meg Cabot but I have to admit, she has a definite point.

Oh, and about that unhealthy obsession you mentioned? Even the other Twilight stars other than Rob are noticing! Have you read the things that Kristen said about the fans? O_O I was a bit shocked but hey, it was coming.

I haven't read Meg Cabot either, but kudos to her and her point. I agree that JKR should really give out her own thoughts about their comparison. I mean, there's this comment that I read before in LJ
"Twilight Confession #18: I threw out all my HP books to make way for my Twilight Books." O.O
Seriously.

To me, there's no point in comparing Harry Potter and Twilight. Harry Potter is in a different realm from Twilight. HP is believable, and funny. Twilight is dumb and a pathetic attempt at witty.
I actually liked the movie. Considering what a crappy book it was based off of, the director did the best she could.
Ooooh, are we doing Twilight confessions? Speaking as a reformed Twitard, mine are bad...
I spent a fun camping trip with three of my friends holed up in the tent rereading the series the night Breaking Dawn came out.
