Fall 2010 classes
I'm taking-Fencing Level One
-Advanced Stress Management (best class and prof on campus)
-Choir
-Studies in Shakespeare
-ASL Level One
-Business
Though this may change, I'm currently enrolled in:Advanced French
Women in Ancient Israel
English (the course is called Pleasure & Danger)
Networks (sociology course)
Biology of the Honey Bee (just for fun)
I should be taking French lit, but I want to work on my speaking and oral comprehension more. I'm looking forward to all of these classes (except maybe French...but I need it), so I'm hoping fall semester will be better than the one I just finished.
Wow. I wish I went to a bigger school so I could have taken such interesting classes that some of you are taking!
I've already signed up for Summer 2011 classes! Talk about getting ahead of myself. For Fall, I'm taking:
Visual Communications
Microeconomics (for the second time....)
Personality Theory
Physiological Psychology
Very excited for my psych classes.
This fall I'll be starting my masters, and the subjects are...International Cooperation for Development
Demography
Development Economics
International Economic Relations
Development Socioeconomics
I usually take 5 classes, but since I'm studying abroad in Switzerland this fall, I'm taking 4:Marketing in a Global Context
Global History 1
Living in a Diaspora (This is a 300 level class. I'm taking the same teacher for both history classes. I assume he'll be confused!)
Career Development for Global Citizens
...So yeah. I'm going global while abroad. :P
Next spring I'll be taking my last three Journalism classes: Problems in Contemporary Journalism, Enterprise Journalism, and Photojournalism. I'll also be finishing up free electives for a summer 2011 graduation! phew.. I think I was only supposed to say fall classes.. haha.
At my school class registration takes place in April, so I'm all set for fall semester already. I can't believe I'm going to be a senior!I'm taking 5 classes:
Seminar: Dracula and Vampirism (so psyched for this one!)
Seminar: Nazi Germany
German I
History of the English Language
16th Century Literature
I hope next semester doesn't kick my ass :P
I agree. All your classes seem really interesting. THe 16th Century Literature is probably the one I would have the biggest struggle with.
Love all the ASL students! I transferred after sophomore year, so I was only able to take one semester. I'm thinking of taking it up again, though... it's such a beautiful way of communicating!
Margaret, The Nazi Germany class sounds really interesting! I think it would be interesting to hear about World War II with a German focus. Let us know how it goes.
My fall classes aren't quite as exciting as everyone else's...I'm taking:Methods, which is where we learn about writing a history graduate level paper. It's essentially the same as the senior thesis class I took last fall, but a bit more intense.
Reading Survey of the First Half of American History, wherein we'll read a book a week. No joking.
Intro to Public History, wherein I learn what public history is and why it's important.
These classes interest me, but they don't have super nifty titles.
I've registered for my Fall classes. I don't have too much to take thank goodness. I'm going to take German 101, Vocal Pedagogy and Voice Lessons. I'm excited about learning a new language. I already took a year of French and I've been trying to keep as much of it as I can. I definitely want to keep the reading skills. That's what I'll be working hard on for German too.
italian 201, literature & chaucer, intro to biology, intro to psychology, intro to cultural anthropolgy.i wish su had a sign language class :/
I'm feeling jealous - I'm not even half done with my summer semester yet (boo German system). I want to think about what to take come winter semester, too! Thinking about the class schedule is always the most exciting time of each semester ;)
I'm excited because I'm returning to the University of Texas this fall! I'm taking:
Spanish - Advanced Grammar and Composition II
Introduction to Computational Linguistics
Elements of Computers and Programming
Spanish - Practical Phonetics
Laura Ashley - I took a whole year of German in one summer. I am hoping to revive it since I only took it 2 years ago and forgotten so much of it.

I've got information overload this summer and next fall. This summer.. 12 hours
Microeconomics
Business Writing
Philosophy
American History 2
This fall.. 19 hours
Biology
Forensic Science
Accounting 2
Mass Communications & Society
Communications Theory
Communications Research Methods
Can anyone say WTF?!?
Oh yeah.. and I have a part-time job of about 20 hours a week, I take care of the house and bills.... whew. I needed a little vent there!!! Hahahaha.
Cool thread! I love seeing the classes people are taking in college, it can be pretty telling, haha. Here are mine for next semester:Introduction to Fiber
Literature of Eastern Philosophy and Religion
Black & White Film Photography
The Scientific Revolution
Print Survey: Intaglio / Relief
Art school. I gotta say though, I'd like to get out of The Scientific Revolution. I don't wanna learn about science unless I'm going to get a science credit.
I'm really excited for next semester to start, for one class in particuliar, I'm taking an African Literature course. I saw one of the books that will be assigned for the class is Half of a Yellow Sun, which is one of my all time favorites. I'm excited to read the other books assigned.
Let's see if I can remember.16 hours:
Intro to General Psych (With an 8am Friday recitation)
Geology: Prehistoric Life (Lab)
Intermediate Spanish (Lord Help me)
19th/Early 20th Century British Literature
Literature of Later Renaissance
Intro to World Musics
I'm not really excited about these. Two of these are major specific, and the rest I'm just knocking out requirements.
This fall I'm taking:Calc III
Linear Algebra
Physics I & Lab
Computer Systems and Programming
Formal Methods and Models (Computer science)
Advanced Composition
I'm somewhat excited about fall semester, but I'm mostly dreading it.
For fall 2010, I'm taking:Federal Government
English Comp II
Public Speaking
Beginning Algebra (I'm terrible at math, so I have to take two more remedial classes before College Algebra)
Micro Computer Applications
For Fall 2010, I have these classes scheduled:Math 104: Intro to Mathematical Problem Solving
History 103: History of the United States (Part 1, spans from 1492 - 1876)
English 260: British Lit: Beowulf to Present
History 104: History of the United States (Part 2. Spans from 1876 to present)
English 261: American Lit: Colonial to Present
My math course is on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the other four are all on M/W/F. I'm beginning to think I'll need to start making timelines for those four, since they're all period based classes.
For the most part, I'm doing core classes this semester.Comp & Lit
Intro to Music
Experimental Methods in Psych
Abnormal Psych
American Government & Politics
Domestic Violence
Interesting thread! Its so good to know about all these interesting courses. This fall, I'm taking:
Principles of Accounting 2
Business finance
Linear Algebra
Principles of Management
Speech communication
And I will be interning this summer in a bank. I am so excited about it!
In the fall I'm taking...-History of 17th Century Philosophy (we'll read Descartes and Locke)
-Disease in Antiquity
-Anthropology of Religion
-Intro to the Study of Language (a linguistics class)
My schedule for this fall is:Calculus I
Humanities
Latin II
Health and Wellness
And hopefully I'll get into Research Methods I (Psychology)
I'm transferring this fall, so I'm fretting over my schedule trying to fit in all of the classes I need to fulfill the liberal arts curriculum as well as my major requirements. My Fall Classes:
Utopian Literature
Foundations of Academic Writing
Health Promotion and Wellness
Fundamentals of Neuroscience
Nietzsche and the Death of God
One awesome thing about my fall schedule is I don't have a single morning class. Yay!! (I'm so not a morning person). :)
Sarah, Disease in Antiquity sounds like a fascinating class. I wish something like that was offered at my school! Kayla, Utopian Literature sounds great, and hooray for no morning classes! This semester I worked it out so that my earliest class starts at 10am, and I'm psyched. I avoid 8:30 classes like the plague.
I unfortunately have Calculus I at 8am in the morning 3 days a week :'(. The good thing is that I wont be late for Latin II at 9am anymore xD.
Kayla: You have the best schedule to ever exist. I am so jealous. Those classes sound awesome. This is what my schedule looks like:
Music Theory III
Ear Training III
Music History II (covers up to the Baroque Period)
Instrumental Conducting I
Percussion Methods
Baroque Ensemble
Symphonic Band
Oboe Lessons
and possibly an internship with a local school band.
I'm taking 16 hours this semester, which translates to about 22 hours of actual class time, plus the 2 hours we are supposed to practice every day for lessons and ensembles.
I'm really excited about Conducting and Baroque Ensemble. I've always wanted to play Baroque Oboe, and I love the professor who's teaching the class this year. Conducting is something I've wanted to do since forever. I can't wait! Also, my boyfriend is in both of those classes with me, which should be fun.
My earliest classes are at 10:00 on MWF and 12:30 on TH. No more morning classes for me! Last year I had 8:00 classes every day, and it sucked.
Mondays are my worst day, with class straight from 10:00 - 6:15. For pretty much every day of the week, once my first class starts I pretty much have no breaks until the last class.
My schedule could be worse, but it could be better too. I have pretty packed days, but I also don't start until later in the morning, so I guess it's a trade-off. I guess I'm pretty happy with it.
Hmm, I'm jealous of a lot of the classes here! Sometimes I wish I went to a bigger school (but then I remember everything I love about my college!)Well next semester is:
Genetics/Molecular Biology
Organic Chemistry I
Western Music History I (Goes through the classical era)
Modern Africa, which turns out to be more about colonial Africa which makes me want to take
Healthcare Systems (public health 101) instead.
also: independent studies w/ biochem professor (2 creds), private cello lessons (2 creds), chamber music (1 cred).
Yay! Super excited about starting the new year.
I very excited for Fall term because I get to sleep waaayyyy in five days a week! I have a nine o'clock class on Tuesdays and Thursdays (good news is that's the only class I have that day), and Monday and Wednesdays class doesn't start until 3 o'clock, then no classes on Friday! Whoo!!
I'm takingIntro to Computer Science
Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness I (I've already taken II?)
Literature & the Book (this is about revolutions in the way we read, like paper or digital etc.)
Film & Literature (this is about film essays and part of the class is creating your own film essay)
Foundations in Entrepreneurship
Group Piano I (this is my first piano class ever, I'm nervous but really excited)
Human Origins
I'm up in the air about my schedule right now, I don't care for lectures and I'm taking two.
Emma - Bahhh I took Organic Chem I last semester, and in a month I have to make up two exams. I will surely fail haha.
Some of these classes sound amazing! As for me, this is my LAST semester, and I am only taking one class:
Latin IV. Pray for me. Lol.
Other than that, it's working as much as possible, and then studying until I dream of conjugations in my sleep.
I'm not completely sure what my schedule will be. Because I'm a first-year graduate student, our advisors are making our preliminary schedules. As soon as it's online in about two weeks, I can change it of course.I requested to take the following:
LIS 600 - Information in Society
LIS 601 - Information Seeking and Retrieval Services
LIS 604 - Library and Book History
I'm most excited about the library and book history course because it deals with the cultural aspects surrounding libraries throughout history, and I have a B.A. in sociology. I might not get into the course though because it may have been filled, even though it's an online course. I'll be disappointed if it is filled because they only offer it once every two years, so I'll have gotten my degree by the time they offer it again! If I don't get into that, I'll be taking a technology course.
For the first time EVER I have no fall classes to attend!!.... unless of course I decide to finish my computer software cert =\ But really 6 years is quite enough I think.
Is it weird that looking through these posts almost makes me wish I had something to post here?I, too, have no classes to take this fall for the first time since I started school back in 1993. I remember glancing over the fall 2010 course offerings for the film department and thinking "Huh, good thing I'm graduating. If I weren't I would have nothing to take."
That was a weird feeling.
Also, to whoever has 19 hours, GOOD LUCK. I did that last spring. It's tough, but doable. I have horrible time management and I had no motivation, plus I was taking two production classes and calculus and I was auditing concert band so I could stay in my service sorority AND I was in the basketball band AND I was in a student production thing that is a huge deal at my school.
If I can do it, I'm sure you can.
I'm taking this semester:Costume Construction
Design Analysis
The Middle Ages
Information Literacy
Beginning Karate
Honors 1000
Woot!
This upcoming semester, I'm taking:
Translation Theory & Practice in French
Spoken French: A Cultural Study
American Government
European Political System
Contemporary Math
Current Health Issues
The last two are GE requirements and I have no doubt they'll be easy, but...I also have no doubt they'll be incredibly boring. The translation class is supposed to be the most challenging class in the French program at my university, so at least it's something to look forward to.

Looks like a lot of classes that I've taken. What's your major/minor? I've been working part time at a bank for a little of 2 years now. We have a lot in common!! :)
I am so excited to be able to post something here...going back to school for post-bacc in Speech and Hearing Sciencesclasses:
Anatomy and physiology of speech and swallowing
Biology
Basic Audiology
Speech and Language Development in children
A little jealous of people taking fun classes, but I think mine will be interesting at least
First year. First semester.Intro to Phys. Science
Intro to Media Studies
Sociology
Intro to Czech (I will be dropping this one)
Minorities in Film
And hoping to get a writing class that is mandatory for my school.

I've already got my schedule planned out, too!! But I had to think about it early because I'm trying to graduate in three semesters and it will only work if I get the right pre-reqs in....
I'm taking all engineering classes:
Transportation design
Environmental Engineering
Soils Engineering
Hydraulics
Theory of Structures
plus a couple labs... I'm a little worried I might be overdoing it but I think it would be better to be stressed out next semester than my senior year...
