Teresa (teresainohio) Okay on the shelf page, if you scroll to the bottom you can click on stats, and on the second pages you can choose stats, which shows you how you rank your books. VERY COOL but I have 69 books for the 2010 year and it only shows 49 anybody know why or how to fix it? thanks

Jennifer W | 2175 comments That is pretty cool. I think, when you read a book and review it, goodreads asks you when you read it and it automatically "sets to today," so I imagine if you go back in to "edit" your read books, you can change the date. Just a guess, though.

I never play with the date and even add all my 2010 reads to their own shelf. I haven't tried to figure out which ones are missing, that would be time consuming : (

Elizabeth (Alaska) I just change the date, if I need to, when I put it on the Read shelf.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Where aren't they showing up, Teresa?

I have no clue.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I don't mean where are they, what are you looking at that you don't see them?

okay when I go to the app link at the bottom of the book list on your personal main page, it takes you to a new list I can see 2010 and 2009

it has the number 50 ( now has an unread book on there)

when my shelf read for 2010 is 70 so it is missing 21 books and I can't figure out why or which ones.

Elizabeth (Alaska) You have your page set to show 50 books (which you can change to show 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100, or 200). There is a page two and you will get the rest. It depends on how you have your page sorted which ones don't show. Sometimes I sort mine by rating, sometimes by date entered, sometimes by author - well, you get the idea. So, with your page set to show 50, it will show the first 50, then the next 50 will be on the next page, and if you have more than 100 books, there will be a third page, etc.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Has anyone looked at the new format for the "My Books" section? Because I added books today, I see it is changed. I *really* like what I see so far!

message 12: by SarahSaysRead (new)

SarahSaysRead I really do not like the new format. If I look at one of my lengthier shelves (like 200+ books for "read"), it stalls when I try to scroll down, I get a pop-up saying something about not running the script, and I have to change it to filter to just 40 or 50 at a time. Anyone know how to make it so that it shows just a certain amount instead of that "infinite scroll" option permanently?

Elizabeth (Alaska) Yes, the default option is Infinite Scroll, but you click on the arrow and select a smaller number.

SarahSaysRead So you can't reset the default to a set amount? That's disappointing.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Yes, yes, yes. You can set the page count to several numbers. There are two places to do this. At the top under custom settings where you set what you want to see, where you can set how you want it sorted, and also there is a place for 10, 20, 30, or Infinite Scroll. Also at the bottom, is a place to select 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, and Infinite Scroll.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Boy did I have a time with that infinite scroll feature the other night! I was trying to organize books (remove some, etc) and it made the page go all over the place. Maybe it was just me! Ha

message 17: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments Yeah, I don't like the infinite scroll either. I change it to 50 books per page, but I have to change it every time. Grr...

Elizabeth (Alaska) So change it. You can change that at the top, even if you open all books.

message 19: by SarahSaysRead (last edited Nov 19, 2010 09:50AM) (new)

SarahSaysRead Elizabeth, I was asking if I could set a default setting to a set amount (default meaning that it would always be on the setting that I choose). Yes, I know that I can change it. My issue is that I have to change it every single time I log in. It wouldn't be quite so annoying if the previous format had some issues, but it didn't. They messed with a good thing.

I really wish that instead of messing with the shelf system, they'd get around to setting up a half-star rating system...

Elizabeth (Alaska) When you change it, it stays. At least it does for me. Are you changing it at the top under Custom Settings and then saving?

Elizabeth (Alaska) One of the things I really like about this new My Books is the ability to choose which information appears and to change it whenever I choose.

Leslie (lesslie) I somtimes forget to change the status to "read" vs "currently reading".
