Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I have a small collection and it's not really organized except for by author/series.

message 52: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I need organization in my life. It almost tends to be obsessive, but not quite. Not quite.

message 53: by Kate (last edited Jun 26, 2011 06:06AM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I think about organizing every so often. Then I decide it's WAY too much work.

That means yours is way more organized than mine Rae. Mine is literally organized by where I put a book.

message 54: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments It bugs me if they aren't in order by series and book number.

message 55: by Ingrid (last edited Jul 01, 2011 03:59PM) (new)

Ingrid Mine is organized according to Author. Otherwise it would really annoy me.
But still, it isn't particularly organized. And I try not to look at the few bottom shelves because they are all school books and notebooks that don't particularly look nice on the shelf.

Kate | 8205 comments My schoolbooks, etc. are by my desk, not in my bookshelf. I would go crazy trying to organize any more than that.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

All in favor that Way should come organize our bookshelves for us, say I. I!!!!!!! :)

And Jess, my bookshelf looks so tiny compared to yours, I'm awe-struck! I don't think my room can hold that many books! (of course our office can.....there's an idea :)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Way can order mine too!

message 59: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I!

message 60: by Adam (new)

Adam I do not think I could take a picture of all of my books... I have like 6 bookshelves and just about all of them have books double stacked!

That is very nearly bookshelf porn right there.

message 62: by Baxter (new)

Baxter (julietrocksmysocks) | 383 comments Mine is long and lacking substance. But I do have a grand organization strategy! I organize (loosely) by obnoxiousness of their size.

I think you do Way! :)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Taylor's Update! :)

I have a new system. It makes sense to me, which is all that really matters. :)

Ingrid Except that the photo is inaccessible to some of us.

message 67: by Taylor (last edited Jul 18, 2011 12:19AM) (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Well fail. I can't even see it. How on earth.

There it goes!

message 68: by Ingrid (last edited Jul 18, 2011 08:00AM) (new)

Ingrid You have a lot of good books.

message 69: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Why thank you. I think so, too. That's not even all of them. I actually have a separate shelf now for books I'm unlikely to ever read, or to read again. :P

message 70: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Yeah, I have some of those, except they are in a big bag and should probably go to the second hand store.

message 71: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I feel bad. I have one that was given to me which is personally signed by the author... But EVERY TIME I try to pick it up, I want to bash my head into a wall.

message 72: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid The book was that bad, eh?

message 73: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments What book?

message 74: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Way: It was that poorly written. It was supposed to be a realistic fiction, but the dialogue... *shudders* No one in high school talks like that.

Rae: I honestly cannot even remember the name right now.

I added this book on Goodreads a while back, and what I do remember is seeing the author's name under the reviews, having rated her own book as 5 stars. And I don't remember when we had this conversation before, but authors rating their own books drives me bonkers. It made me want to read this particular book even less.

message 75: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I hate books like that. I also loathe books where everyone talks like a robot.
Maybe it's a good thing you forget the name.

We had this convo (or at least stopped talking about it) like 2 weeks ago or something. ^_^

message 76: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments The example I always use is this conversation that goes on during this girl's first day at a new high school. She starts talking to another girl, and in the first part of their conversation they practically spill their life stories. I get that we need to know the characters well, but we don't have to know them well in the first ten minutes of reading the darn book.

I remembered the conversation, but not when we had it or what topic it was in. :)

message 77: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I just guessed on when, actually. And I think it was in multiple places.

Exactly! The point of a books is to discover the life story!

message 78: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Exactly! If you know everything right away, it kills the want to read more.

message 79: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments And then being told the ending of a book before you even start it! (or are in the middle of reading it)

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

That's awful!

message 81: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments It is. I personally only give away spoilers if the person has been begging for them- and then I only drop them when i can tell that they aren't paying attention.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahahaha you're evil! :)

message 83: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Oof! That does sound like a bit of a lousy book.

message 84: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Cassie wrote: "Hahahaha you're evil! :)"

I know. :D But it's so fun! And I don't do it often.

I hate reading bad books. But I feel bad for hating said book, no matter how bad it is. Is that just me?

message 87: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid No, it makes sense.

message 88: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments It makes perfect sense, Jess. You know that every single author has worked hard on making their book great and then when it doesn't live up to your expectations you feel like you're letting the author down.

Kate | 8205 comments Taylor wrote: "Taylor's Update! :)

I see a nice Tamora Pierce collection in there. I approve. Is this system really so odd? Because it seems to make sense to me.

message 90: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Ah yes, Tamora Pierce books have almost half a shelf to themselves. I also have Half-Human, which has a short story by Tamora Pierce in it. :)

And my system is just not your typical system. But it works. :)

message 91: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments What short story is in there?

message 92: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments "Elder Brother".

message 93: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Words cannot explain ow jealous I am of all of you! I don't even have a bookshelf! I have four shelves scattered around my room with books full and then two boxes full of books. I'm begging for a decent bookshelf, but I share a room with my sister and she does not agree to this.

message 94: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Your sister doesn't want a bookshelf in your room? Wouldn't a book shelf make your things more organized and take up less space?

message 95: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments This is what I tell her! She always complains that our room looks to much like a library, and I don't think she understands that if I got a bookcase, the boxes would be gone, and she can put her stuff on those shelves.

message 96: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments You need to have a sit-down discussion with her about this, or something.

Thats crazy :O

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

this is just the one in my bedroom
Photobucket

some gaps because of book I'm reading (graceling and warrior of the west) and from ones being lent out

message 99: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Taylor- That's a good idea...

Jess- I know!

Melanie- That's great!

I suppose I could put up pictures, but you would just get 6 pictures, haha. And then there's my mom's room and the bookcase in the living room... ugh.

message 100: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Boxes are good book holders too. I actually want to move into my brother's room (he's getting married) because he has wall shelves and that would just save sooo much space.
