I have a small collection and it's not really organized except for by author/series.

I need organization in my life. It almost tends to be obsessive, but not quite. Not quite.
I think about organizing every so often. Then I decide it's WAY too much work.That means yours is way more organized than mine Rae. Mine is literally organized by where I put a book.
It bugs me if they aren't in order by series and book number.
Mine is organized according to Author. Otherwise it would really annoy me. But still, it isn't particularly organized. And I try not to look at the few bottom shelves because they are all school books and notebooks that don't particularly look nice on the shelf.
My schoolbooks, etc. are by my desk, not in my bookshelf. I would go crazy trying to organize any more than that.
All in favor that Way should come organize our bookshelves for us, say I. I!!!!!!! :)
And Jess, my bookshelf looks so tiny compared to yours, I'm awe-struck! I don't think my room can hold that many books! (of course our office can.....there's an idea :)

I do not think I could take a picture of all of my books... I have like 6 bookshelves and just about all of them have books double stacked!

Mine is long and lacking substance. But I do have a grand organization strategy! I organize (loosely) by obnoxiousness of their size.

Why thank you. I think so, too. That's not even all of them. I actually have a separate shelf now for books I'm unlikely to ever read, or to read again. :P
Yeah, I have some of those, except they are in a big bag and should probably go to the second hand store.
I feel bad. I have one that was given to me which is personally signed by the author... But EVERY TIME I try to pick it up, I want to bash my head into a wall.
Way: It was that poorly written. It was supposed to be a realistic fiction, but the dialogue... *shudders* No one in high school talks like that.Rae: I honestly cannot even remember the name right now.
I added this book on Goodreads a while back, and what I do remember is seeing the author's name under the reviews, having rated her own book as 5 stars. And I don't remember when we had this conversation before, but authors rating their own books drives me bonkers. It made me want to read this particular book even less.
I hate books like that. I also loathe books where everyone talks like a robot.Maybe it's a good thing you forget the name.
We had this convo (or at least stopped talking about it) like 2 weeks ago or something. ^_^
The example I always use is this conversation that goes on during this girl's first day at a new high school. She starts talking to another girl, and in the first part of their conversation they practically spill their life stories. I get that we need to know the characters well, but we don't have to know them well in the first ten minutes of reading the darn book.I remembered the conversation, but not when we had it or what topic it was in. :)
I just guessed on when, actually. And I think it was in multiple places.Exactly! The point of a books is to discover the life story!
Exactly! If you know everything right away, it kills the want to read more.
And then being told the ending of a book before you even start it! (or are in the middle of reading it)
It is. I personally only give away spoilers if the person has been begging for them- and then I only drop them when i can tell that they aren't paying attention.

It makes perfect sense, Jess. You know that every single author has worked hard on making their book great and then when it doesn't live up to your expectations you feel like you're letting the author down.

I see a nice Tamora Pierce collection in there. I approve. Is this system really so odd? Because it seems to make sense to me.
Ah yes, Tamora Pierce books have almost half a shelf to themselves. I also have Half-Human, which has a short story by Tamora Pierce in it. :)And my system is just not your typical system. But it works. :)
Words cannot explain ow jealous I am of all of you! I don't even have a bookshelf! I have four shelves scattered around my room with books full and then two boxes full of books. I'm begging for a decent bookshelf, but I share a room with my sister and she does not agree to this.
Your sister doesn't want a bookshelf in your room? Wouldn't a book shelf make your things more organized and take up less space?
This is what I tell her! She always complains that our room looks to much like a library, and I don't think she understands that if I got a bookcase, the boxes would be gone, and she can put her stuff on those shelves.
You need to have a sit-down discussion with her about this, or something.

I suppose I could put up pictures, but you would just get 6 pictures, haha. And then there's my mom's room and the bookcase in the living room... ugh.
Boxes are good book holders too. I actually want to move into my brother's room (he's getting married) because he has wall shelves and that would just save sooo much space.
