I love the big story, the novels that really make you think about what it is you've witnessed during and when you're finished.
I will put A TERRACE ON THE TOWER OF BABEL up for the June 15 discussion. Thanks again.

Hey everyone
I've been lurking for a little while and this looks like a fun and informative forum. I am new to Contemporary Christian Fiction. I love Jan Karon and I have read some Frank Peretti and some of the "Left Behind" series but not much else. When I became a Christian in 1989, I found much of C.C.fiction hoakey and poorly written. So I left the genre for biographies, Bible studies and the 19th century: Austen, the Brontes, Dickens, Gaskell, Poe etc
Anyway it was a Bible study that turned me back to CC fiction. It was Liz Curtis Higgs' Bad Girls of the Bibles. She wrote contemporary pieces for the Bible story.
Sorry I didn't mean for this to turn into a blog entry. I just wanted to say I am happy to meet ya'll and I am happy to be here.

I'm new to this group. I'm a reader and a writer. I've always favored classic literature, but I'm looking to expand into newer genres.
I have also written two novels "Future Hope ITP Book One" and Joshua and Aaron ITP Book Two". Both are futuristic with Biblical themes.

I have a novella of Inspirational Fiction on Amazon and Smashwords which might interest y'all. "The Perfect Place...or is it?"
Elaine Fields Smith, a native Texan, brings you this story which originated in a vivid dream. Spiritual guides—loved ones from the past—whisk Katie to an astral plan of ultimate knowledge. She embraces the journey, encountering famous historical masters and grabs the opportunity to ask important questions. But something is missing…and it is Katie who stumbles on the answer. With moments of laughter, joy and wonder, The Perfect Place is an uplifting experience and light (short) yet heavy (philosophical, emotional) reading.

Thanks!

how old are your kids? i wont even try the library yet with mine lol

My name is Michele and I'm excited to read some good books...after 20 years of NOT reading (raising kids and working), I'm just now getting back in the swing of things.
So, I'm not sure how this group or website works but I'll try and catch on! :)
Michele

maybe I can catch up on next month's book...I'm trying to finish reading Healing Sands so I don't think I can read the discussion books this month. :(
Hopefully, I will finish in time for August's choice.
Michele
PS I have no idea what or who to vote for so I'll just go along with the group. I hope it's light and funny though because I could use a little of that right now! :)

I'm Kelly..Been reading lots of Karen Kingsbury over the years and am looking to branch out to other Christian Fiction (contemporary) authors. Looks like this group could help in deciding which books to read. Looking forward to future discussions and happenings.

My name is Karen. I have only been a member of goodreads for a few months. I love reading CC books. I especially love Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I'm sure that I will find new and rediscover authors on here. My preferences are Christian, however I also love classics, mystery and and biographies.

I'm currently getting a book published which should be released at the end of the year. Its called The Fall of Men, and its basically about gay kids looking for God in a purgatory-like world.

I am so thankful for having been introduced to this group. I had no idea that their were so many Christian authors out there that I have not heard about. The Christian bookstores that are close to me don't seem to have a very big selection of contemporary christian books. And the ones that they do have aren't set in current times. I like to read them also, but enjoy the current times ones better. Thanks to whoever set up this group!!

Hello everyone,
My name is Valerie and I live in Iowa. I just became a member of Goodreads. I love to read (especially in the winter) so I thought that being on goodreads would be a good thing cause then I can keep track of the books I read.

God bless, and thanks for letting me listen in.

I'm Lynn and just heard about Goodreads yesterday and joined. I'm excited to have found this group.
I live between Cleveland and Akron Ohio.
I do most of my reading on my Kindle. So I hope that a lot of great books recommended on here come in Kindle format.
My favorite Christian fiction book that I've read this year is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
Blessings,
Lynn

I live in San Diego, CA!

This is not the right place to ask this question but I don't know how to navigate this site to well yet.
I read that the book A Suitor for Jenny is coming up to be read by the group at the end of August. But on Amazon and Barnes and Noble it says the book won't be released until the end of September. Have others gotten this book somewhere else?

I am a new member and also a new author. I have a book out "Wake Up, O Sleeper". Check out my website if you would like to read the first chapter. I am a big fan of Frank Peretti and Joel Rosenberg books. Looks like a great group here!

I'm a newbie, just joined the group today. I'm really excited to meet like-minded people with a similar taste for Christian fiction.
I'm looking forward to taking part in discussions in this group and making friends here :-)

I am Teric Darken, and I predominantly script Christian-oriented thrillers. I have a newly published suspense/thriller out entitled: K - I - L - L FM 100, and my second thriller, U-TURN KiLLuR, should be released in early 2011. Both of my titles are through WestBow Press.
My influences include: C.S. Lewis, Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, and Robert Liparulo, to name a few authors of similar genre and material.
Thanks for allowing me to participate!

My name is John. I'm a former journalist and recently started a new career as the director of a local mentoring program for grade school kids. I'm new to Goodreads, and this is my first group. I enjoy many different genres: mystery (Sherlock is the bomb), science fiction (mostly about time travel) and Christian fiction (especially Biblical fiction). I look forward to hearing what you all are reading so I can get some more material on my Kindle.

I'm the author of The Price of Trust ~ a Christian romance novel, and I'm working on my fifth book as we speak.
I'm currently looking for other Christian authors that would be interested in having book giveaways on my website. I like to encourage people (I'm not a critic) rather than tear them down because I don't like it when it's done to me. I like happy endings, and I cry at silly things.
That's just a little about me ~ thanks for this group. I look forward to meeting & getting to know you all better!

I recently joined and am an author as well as avid reader. I hope to introduce everyone interested to my novel: A Terrace On The Tower Of Babel. It has several strong Christian characters and powerful end-time themes. A sweeping "names changed to protect . . ." account of the Silicon Valley/Wall Street Tech Boom by a high-level insider. (me) It is a face-paced, provocative tale not for the faint of heart. If you like Russian novels, John Steinbeck, Tom Wolfe, and a touch of Victor Hugo, you'll be sure to enjoy this unforgettable book. Anyway . . . Hi to all! http://www.nelswrites.com
