Em your book is Awaken to Pleasure by Nalini Singh - it was actually one her first books and was a silhouette desire but would have been a great HP.

Cathy do you remember if they wound up having to hike out of the area cause something went wrong with the plane?

Another posibility is The Winter Heart by Lillian Cheatham

message 1554: by Sapheron (new)

Sapheron | 56 comments Could it be The Winter Heart by Lillian Cheatham ? It sounds like a match from what I remember of the book. The sister even shows up at the end I believe.

message 1555: by KatieV (new)

KatieV | 141 comments Cathy I agree with others, your search sounds an awful lot like The Winter Heart. It's a favorite old skool wallbanger of mine. It was a case of mistaken identity where the h's stepsister(?) is actually the guilty party.

message 1556: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments I also thought of The Winter Heart, but the motivation was different. Could you be mixing up two books?

message 1557: by boogenhagen (new)

boogenhagen | 306 comments That is why I hesitated to suggest Winter Heart, the other one is Passage of the Night Amanda Carpenter because Cathy's description sounds like a cross between the two.

message 1558: by Bapi (new)

Bapi | 2 comments I'm trying to find a book I read years ago. The H and h share the same past as foster children / runaways. I think there was also abuse, the H protecting the h(?). I think he had a hippie-esk name like 'Moon'.
They meet years later. He turned his back on his past, now a businessman in a suit. She lives near a beach. One doesn't recognize the other, I believe. I think he has to loosen up before they can be together.

Sira | 37 comments I'm looking for a harlequin presents title. Stop the presses! Lol, the lady from what I can remember was a housekeeper who fell for the hero, she got pregnant and relocated to France I believe and became the housekeeper fire the hero's former brother in law who had a vendetta against the hero due to his belief the hero caused the death of the sister somehow. He happens to see her one day while traveling in his chauffeu driven car and realizes she has had a baby - which is his. He convinces her to marry him but during the ceremony she walks out due to her believing he is still in love with his dead wife he chases after her and he says the right words and the end.

Can anyone help with the title ?

There is also another title im looking for where the hero hires and interior decorator he knew previously (;)) the decorate his grandmother/aunt of some relative house for her to live in.

She had a child by him but she never told him. He eventually found out and they worked it out and lived HEA.

Throughout the book she was making a tapestry of Persophonie (incorrect spelling, dont stone me!) which the relative admired. in the end it was used as a centre piece in the house which was made over not for the grandmother but for them to live in. I think she was making the tapestry from the time she knew the hero years ago and what she said she used to do instread of going out and meeting new guys in the years between the hero and her broke up...

there was a scene when her boss asked her o leave work early to have an appointment withe the hero and when she got to the house it was furbished with all the ideas she had for the place and got upset with the guy only to realize t was his set up to propose to her and tell her how he truly felt

Its a secret baby/child plot where the hero demands to meet his daughter and he was not expecting a little girl who played in mud (and i think swore)? it was a Harlequin presents title. The mother was also a working mother i believe and he was upset his child had to be raised in such a way

Christina, but with tea (steepedinbooks) | 28 comments I remember very little about this one, but maybe it will still be familiar to someone. The hero and heroine are actors (or, perhaps the hero is a director who used to act?). They worked together before, I think, and they got rave reviews. After a long separation, they have to work together again, but she is acting opposite another male actor. I remember one scene, after a lot of fighting and tension, the hero had to stand in for a love scene and it really messed with the heroine's head having to act and yet be so vulnerable with him. I may be confusing it with another book, but I think she has a bit of an emotional breakdown later because of all of it. Anyone know this one?

The Devil's Mistress (Harlequin Presents, #552) by Sarah Holland ~ Sarah Holland

message 1572: by Verity (new)

Verity | 567 comments Somehow trainwrecks are more memorable & this numbnut hero is such a douchebag that he sticks out like a sore thumb. For a sec I thought it was Jayne Bauling bk cuz she writes some sourpuss heroes LOL

Sanya | 28 comments Christina wrote: "I think that might be the one! Thank you so much!"
I remember it, it is Shadow Marriage by Penny Jordan. Shadow Marriage by Penny Jordan
It fits perfectly. They were separated and nobody knew that they were married. There is that scene when the H, who is directing, replaces the main actor on the set of the love scene and she goes to pieces. It was a costume movie and the main actor was the reason they separated. I still have it in paperback.

Christina, but with tea (steepedinbooks) | 28 comments It's gotta be the Jordan one then. I read a lot of her back in the day. Yeah, the douchebag heroes and train wreck plots are easier to remember sometimes. Haha Thanks everyone!

message 1575: by Rose Alice (new)

Rose Alice | 102 comments I need another help from you guys. I read a book where the H is a doctor & widowed, had a good married life . h is his secretary or nurse. She has some problem of asthma where pollen of flower can trigger an attack too(it happened once during the novel). At somewhere beginning of the novel she was somewhat a klutz & H was always fixing up the buttons of her coat or fixing any other thing of hers like a kid.
Her both parents died.Mother died earlier. Her father was strict . So not much girly things for her. So she once dolled up for H & came to work with open hair (which she always kept on a tight bun) . H was mesmerized but rebuked her badly to get out of frustration & said something about her hair too. Which she took badly & ran to home. H realized that in sorrow the first thing she would do after reaching home is to cut her long hair. So in horror he went after her & then in her house some steamy scene followed.

Another scene where they went to picnic. They were sprawled on the grass relaxing & some times making out ...& the H accidentally takes his dead wife's name instead of h's. Can you tell me the book's name?

message 1580: by Marloes (new)

Marloes (marloestn) | 1 comments I'm looking for a harlequin book that I've read about 15 years ago ( I think). It's about a man who comes back to his home town to find out that his girlfriend from high school (Who he ran away from) is raising their 5 year old daughter, that he never knew about. The front cover of the book that I've read shows a man and a little girl who made hands of red paint all over the kitchen cabinet. They end up together ofcourse, after he finds out that she didn't cheat on him like he thought. Something with leaving a note on a porch that some other girl took, which made him misread the situation and leave his hometown. The mother was mayor of that hometown at 1 point while raising their daughter.

Hope you can find me help it :D I really love secret baby books haha

Liyah | 26 comments Hi i'm looking for a harlequin...
Don't remember much!
The H and h are married but H puts OW first.
h runs away after overhearing the H telling the OW that he loves her (on the phone)
I guess the H finds her and forces her to come back and live with him and his evil aunt.
Some things happen in between...
H and h have a fight and H is about to leave and go to the OW.
h gives him an ultimatum and he still chooses to leave and go to OW.
Turns out that the h wanted him to stay because she was feeling bad and thought that smth was wrong with the baby (yeah she's pregnant )
She faints and wakes up in the hospital... H doesn't show for three days ( evil aunt didn't tell him)

Ohw he kept putting the OW first because she was a drug addict and kept threatening him with suicide....

As I remember from the Novel:

I read it in 2003 so it was published before that year, the cover of the novel was half red and half white .

The first scene in the novel is (the heroine) a women in her 20, she has boyish short hair, she was in a restaurant cleaning at the time for closing _ the restaurant is own by her family and they are going to lose it because they have no money _ . while she is cleaning, the door of the restaurant opens and (the hero) enters _ he is rich and they know each other from the past they were in love but something happened and they separated _ she was suprised to see him and they talk a little but then he kisses her with passion and desire and his mouth in her neck and his hands in her short hair.

Another is a scene is of her with him in a some terrace _ which has a table and chairs around it and umbrella _ and she was offering to be his mistress if he help her family , and he accept and they go to his bedroom and she remove her earring and about to take her dress but then he stops her.

Jacqueline J | 267 comments I know you all can help me with this one. I think it might be Michelle Reid or Lynne Graham. There's a couple who are divorced and have a little girl but the hero is convinced the girl is not his. The daughter gets kidnapped and he comes to help. I thought I'd like to read it again and can't remember the title.

message 1596: by Liyah (new)

Liyah | 26 comments Hi!!
I don't know if this is a new or a old harlequin... And I don't remember too much...
It starts with the heroine taking a walk on the beach.
She came to Greece with a work friend.
Said friend expected her to sleep with him and got upset cause she refused.
He was a sore loser :-D
He stole her passport and money and left the country.
Heroine had a talk with the manager.
The manager tricked her (he said that a helicopter would take her to athens)
Turns out that the pilot works for her estranged husband...
He takes her to the H private island.
Turns out that the h left the H cause the H sister (don't remember if she's a stepsister or a halfsister)
Told her that they were having an affair and the h was only the cover so nobody would find out about the affair.
Heroine of course believed her (H put the sis before the h, he kept taking sis side etc.)

Ok...
So the h is a prisoner on the island, the H treats her horrible the sis-in-law keeps putting ideas into her head and the H tries to marry the sis off....
Don't remember much from that point... Just that the H at some point finds out that the sis is crazy and said sis gets herself killed by crossing the street....

It's no much but does anybody remember the name of the book???

This is most likely Island of the Dawn by Penny Jordan Island of the Dawn -- however, I remember reading a more modern presents (maybe Diana Hamilton?) that had a very similar plotline, so it could possibly be that one instead. This has all the plot points you mention, though.
