Dorota (readinggirl91) | 7 comments Yes, they are very good. I have a movie for the Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, but I haven't watched it yet.
Too bad there will be no more Girl...

Diane (dianec) | 46 comments Just started the Passage last night. Totally hooked but am prepared for the slow down in part 2. I seriously considered calling in sick to work just so I could read.

I think you should definitely call in sick, Diane! Or maybe read whilst taking your lunch break...if you are lucky enough to get one at your job!

Kay | 9 comments Just started this book. Not at all my kind of book, but was persuaded by the podcast and subsequent big book contest. OK, you all were right. Can't put it down. Don't want to go to work tomorrow. Don't want to go to bed tonight. Just want to read on. Lacey is almost in the compound.

Trish (bowedbookshelf) Michael & Ann, a colleague of mine pines for the second book in The Passage series...when I ask her for a title recommendation, she turns a moon face to me, eyes glazed...when is that second book coming out? she queries plaintively...

I used to do that, look up and say what it can't be 4am eek! But now I have a night owl, bookaholic dream job....I work 3rd shift as a doorperson in a big condo building. I stand up for the first hour 11pm-12am and then read, play on the computer or do puzzles (as long as I don't sleep)until 5-5:30am when I stand up again until 7am. Menial labor is can be so uplifting .

Grace, cool that you job gets you lots of reading time! May not want to be reading The Passage at 4am, though...

message 59: by Kay (new)

Kay | 9 comments Almost finished. The slow down in part 2 did not keep me from resenting any activity that kept me from The Passage. I hope the sequel is just as good. Still not a fan of the whole vampire thing and will be glad when the fad is over. Grace...lucky you to have such quiet time to read on the job!

***I really like the good vampire stuff but when things go viral the trend followers just tempt you to waste your money. OTOH I don't know that Octavia Butler would have written a vampire book w/o the fad/phase and her Fledgling is a very good book. We lost a great author when she died.
When you consider Chelsea Quin Yarbro and L K Hamilton are writing in the same "___" well I'm happy that there's something about vampires. I love both of them but each for when I'm in completely opposite moods.

Rick-Founder JM CM BOOK CLUB | 1 comments I had this as a buddtread in the Group I founded-THE JAMES MASON COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB - and I must say it received very negative reviews from our members- the chief complaint was its very slow pace.

Rick! I'm glad you found Books on the Nightstand. I love your group, too.

Rita | 147 comments Well, I just finished this and I have to say, I was surprised at the super cliff-hanger ending. And I KNEW that there was a cliff-hanger ending coming. But even knowing this, I was still surprised.

When does the next book come out?

On his website, he lists the sequel "The Twelve" as being released sometime in 2012. It's pretty vague but at least it's somewhat of a time frame.

Rita | 147 comments Thanks Brandon! That seems so far away right now, BUT considering that it's mid-March already I guess the time will go fast.

Helen Dunn (hmonkeyruns) | 110 comments I'm bumping this thread because I know I need a refresher on The Passage before The Twelve comes out in a few weeks.

Helen, there's a 4-page synopsis of The Passage at the beginning of The Twelve!

message 68: by Helen (new)

Helen Dunn (hmonkeyruns) | 110 comments Awesome! I am looking forward to the new book but wasn't up for a 700 page re-read.

message 69: by Suzan (new)

Suzan Jackson (suejackson) | 80 comments Can't wait! I got The Twelve for my husband for his birthday ;)

message 70: by Shona (new)

Shona (anovelobsession) | 178 comments I picked up The Passage this weekend to skim through and reread the ending in anticipation of The Twelve coming out soon. I wanted to refresh my memory...well the skim through turned in to a total reread. I'm more than half way through and just like the first time I read it I can't put it down!

message 71: by Chad (new)

Chad in the ATL (chadaaronsayban) Really looking forward to The Twelve. Preordered it a long time ago and double-checked that it was still preordered the other day. Considering the vast number of books I have to read, it takes a special book to make me push all of them aside to read a sequel. The Passage was just such a book.
