Thanks for your suggestion, Josie!

I'm sure the lists would be fine, in the short term - now - say 18mths. I was thinking more long term where they could be spammed.
But I do like the idea Josie ;)

Yeah the spamming is pretty continuous but I figured since there are less than 100 books per list, it'd be manageable (for me, I don't want to make you guys do more work, you all do enough with Bingo etc) - it's harder when there's multiple pages to go through. LOL, who are these people who put Twilight and FSoG on every list??

I don't read as many genre as you do but I wouldn't mind helping too. Maybe someone could pick a list to take care of, less work to do. As for me....anything except YA. I don;t read enough of them and would make too many mistakes anyway.

Ya'll are definitely welcome to create a listopia, if you'd like. Should probably start with what's already on our BEST OF lists and let it go from there. :)
Don't forget to share links, if you do create them. That way we can add to them. I will post a link on our BEST of threads in case members would like to use that instead/also.

Sure Val! There's four SOS lists:
BEST OF: Paranormal Romance Series
BEST OF: Urban Fantasy Series
BEST OF: Young Adult Fantasy Series
BEST OF: Stand Alone Novels (PNR/UF/YA genres)
I don't mind whichever ones I do. I'll do the YA one then, leaving you with the stand alones. You can choose which one you want to do out of PNR and UF and I'll do the other. If we do like Steph says and just add the ones on the list, and try to keep the PNR and UF ones adult and not mix up the genres (i.e. if the characters change in each book, it's PNR; first person, same character it's UF).
Shall we keep it to the first book in the series? It'll probably keep the numbers down so they're easier to check/keep tidy/browse through/vote on.

Josie as the creator you only have the power to edit the title and description of the list but you won't have the power to delete books unless you're a librarian

Sandra wrote: "Ah well, I wasn't sure. No probs, just let me know if it needs editing in the future :D"
Thanks, Sandra! The power you wield! :P

:) Well, I'm thinking the YA one will become a mess in no time!

Since I want to discover other UF series I don't mind trying that one. I don't think that the Stand Alone list is very long so it should be easy.
I'll start from the BEST OF: list with only first books in the list. Are we aiming for a limited number? 100? 200?
Lol, I've voted on lists before but never made one of my own. Should be easy.

And you just do what you can, it's not a job, LOL!

Thanks for adding a link to our group within the list description! :D"
Josie had a good idea. More possible SOS followers from the listopia....maybe you could add the link to the listopia to the SOS threads. :)

Yeah Val, I'm glad, I'm not putting any YA on the list either!
You're welcome Steph, the mods and group were responsible for them in the first place :)

LMAO! It'd be funny to see what would happen if you put that as your response. I'm sure they'd get a good laugh and probably grant you the power and help with your first step toward taking over the world. Bwahahahaha >;)

*mutters* I don't know how she knew about that world-take-over plan...
Also, hope you don't mind I used your definition of PNR, it just seemed the best and cba to reword (this is what comes from being a uni).

In actual fact the way to be accepted is to have a good reason why you want to be a librarian. Tell them you don't want to keep msging me and you'd like to tidy up your books etc etc. The reason is the most important thing to get accepted, along with having 50 books on your shelves.

(I think, I never dealt much with listopias in my pre-amazon-purchase-librarian days.)

You are required to memorize the librarian manual (or at least look up a policy before changing existing book/author/series data) at http://www.goodreads.com/librarian_ma... -- and can get librarian status revoked for going against policies.
example of going against policies would be deleting or overwriting existing book covers just because an ebook author updated the book cover on bookseller sites without getting a new isbn/asin (goodreads is book database/catalogue/library of all book editions and not a bookseller concerned with making sure only the currently for sale edition shows and let's members shelve the edition of a book they want/own without anyone changing the bookcover on a member shelves just because out of print or no longer for sale; new cover = new edition that in no way messes with member book catalogs).
One thing I do not miss about being a librarian is pm's from authors who posted unsuccessfully in librarians group (asking for bookcover change, to vandalize book description synopsis with promotional links and review quotes, etc.) and got turned down so started messaging goodreads librarians requesting. Usually without even bothering to delete the staff-said-no post in librarians group.
Just a tiny pet peeve to give any newly accepted librarians a heads up -- if author pm's you out of the blue for help -- check their recent group posts where goodreads staff members or other librarians may already have said "no" and explained policies.
Mostly any changes you make against policy just get revoked when discovered and one or more librarians will contact you explaining what happened and linking to policy in the manual. Any questions about an edit, before or after, can just ask in librarians group and someone will explain. No one expects a brand new volunteer to know everything; but, librarian status can get revoked...

Here is the SOS BEST OF: Young Adult Fantasy Series

Oops, my bad, Josie! Thanks for clarifying, Sandra. My wicked side got the best of me for a min. It's under control now. ... now to decide --- help or hinder Josie's attempts to take over the world ... Bwahahaha >;)

Thanks! I'll get those links added this week. :D

It's fine I haven't applied yet, I might if the lists begin to regress.
No problem, no need to rush :)

ETA: Links to the Listopia lists created by Josie & Val have been added to the BEST OF threads :D

Can always ask for edits in librarians group when needed.

SOS BEST OF: Stand Alone Novels (PNR/UF/YA genres). Better late than never.

Just curious, but is #6 Daughter of the Flames standalone? It shows as being in a series. (Shields Lady and Crystal Flame also, I have not read Daughter one but Shields/Crystal are definitely part of a series although not necessary to read one to be able to follow the other).
The Host - that one I am positive is first in series with distinct reading order. Lots of books listed as standalone seem to have series info.

Made some adjustments to the list....it has diminished in size.
