I tried the first one and it couldn't hold my attention....:( There are so many though and I hear good things... so maybe I'll have to give it another chance.

in particular. I found the first half a little slow but the second more than makes up for it. Such an interesting concept and seeing as I do a Geog degree, it's kind of my thing :S Looking forward to continuing this series! :D
Josie I am so glad to hear that! I bought
last year but have never gotten around to reading it. I have heard complaints about the later books in the series, but I really need to start thsi series.
I'm with you Angi. I read the first one and it was just okay. Nothing to grab me and say read the next one. So many people seem to like the series, maybe I missed something.

Different from other UFs seeing as it's not a vamp/shifter/fae etc series. It's all about the djinn instead which for me, made a nice change. Unusual but cool. Happy reading!
ETA: I put UF but IMO it's more of an UF/SF-ish

Especially because there is not just magic but some real physics in the books. Loved descriptions of weather forming and changing. It would have been great to be able to change weather like that:)
Anyone else read the Song of Ice and Fire series?? Omg, its amazing! And I just saw, they're turning the first book into a series on HBO, first episode tonight!
I just finshed Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison. Awesome! And Autobuy for this series. Funny, great world buidling, great h/h, very good plot and love story.
That's good to hear, Cali b/c I just bought it recently and look forward to reading it too.I recently read Thea's guest post @ Nalini Singh's blog: http://nalinisingh.blogspot.com/searc... It's always interesting to learn what lead someone to write the book(s) they do.
Thanks AH I picked them up on my weekly raid of Chapters and the local used bookstore. I am hoping to have a chance to start them soon.
I stopped going to chapters since I discovered book depository. I did go this weekend and I found a bunch of $2 and $5 books, but the line up was huge. So I gave up.

Not sure if any one has suggested them yet but:
just a few

To jump on the Weather Warden band wagon, it is a great series! I devoured all 9 books in a week! I couldn't stop reading them! I am reading the spin off series to it called Outcast Season it starts with Undone.
I guess I will give the Weather Warden series another try, since everyone seem to really like it. I got half way through #2 and put it down. I liked #1 a lot better.
Thank you all! More for me to get my teeth in to! Not sure if I saw it but the Dark hunter series great, I just finished the last one and I miss it already. Acheron was my favourite book of all time I think.
Just started the Dark Hunter series. I don't know if I can do a lot of PNR at once, but did enjoy
a lot.
Welcome to the group, Theresa! I have read and really liked Blood Magic. I have all four (#4: Sinful Magic), but haven't gotten back into them since I read #1 in 2010. I want to read them though. Sexy demons, hunters and witches :)
Jim Butcher was mentioned a while back, but I haven't seen his wife, Shannon K Butcher mentioned. She writes an awesome series, The Sentinel Wars.

Theresa wrote: "Been reading Jennifer Lyon's Wing Slayer series and enjoying them]"I have Blood Magic on my Kindle. Hope to get to it soon.
Finishing Truthseeker in just a few minutes. FABULOUS!!! At least 4 stars. My favorite part of the book is the way she "hears" the truth. It is music - literally! I love when authors incorporate music in their books. There aren't references to specific songs, but I could imagine the discordant tones and "hear" them shifting when the truth finally comes out.
Hi all! Being obsessed by UF-YA-PNR books at the moment, I'm so glad I've found you guys:)Since no one mentioned "Spellcrackers" series (by Suzanne McLeod) yet, I would recommend it gladly. The first book is a bit complicated, but overall this is a really good and captivating UF.
Thanks for the recommendation Laura. I've been looking at those. I don't mind complicated, within reason! Tried reading Umberto Eco once, way too complicated for me! I understood what I was reading, just didn't want to put that much effort into something that is supposed to be fun!
I know what you mean, Cindy:) Indeed, U. Eco tends to write... challenging books. However, "the name of the rose" was made into a movie (quite successfully, IMO). I, for one, prefer books to movies but in the case of the author in question... U know what I mean:) "The sweet scent of blood" is not THAT complicated although at some parts, it's a bit difficult to grasp who is who and what is what. The second and the third books are less confusing.
Well - at the time I was dating a guy who thought he could be a Mensa member. No clue if he could have actually made it in, but when I quit reading Foucault's Pendulum about 3/4 of the way in, he made some comment about the vocabulary being too difficult. I almost smacked him! I told him the vocabulary wasn't the problem, the story just wasn't interesting enough to slog thru all the pompous BS. It kinda went downhill from there.....
LOL!!! I so hate "clever" people reading "clever" books... If some guy (chic) decides that one particular book is "clever" (usually because a bunch of "clever" snobs decided this beforehand), then the book in question instantly becomes a must read (and must looove)... And, naturally, if you say that this book is unbearably boring, he looks at you wearing this "oh yah, silly babe..." smile. Urgh! Ok, I have a PHD in biochemistry and I have already had my share of "clever" books. At the moment, I want enjoyment in my reading time and I am old enough not to be ashamed of that:)))
Well - that's one author I won't be reading again anytime soon. I read for escapism and fun. His books (IMO) aren't fun. I've got too many books ahead of his to even consider them at this point. Fun books! Sexy books!! VERY SEXY BOOKS!!!
Cindy, for fun and sexy read you should check "Raphael" & "Jabril" by (D. B. Reynolds) out. This author isn't very popular, but those two books are rather good (and quite hot as well).

Imagine their house!

"Bad news about the Wing Slayer Hunter series--Jennifer Lyon's publisher is on hiatus and there might not be any more. Here is the last book in the series. Read them all while you still can!
Huh. That stinks. I need to get movin' on that series, I've only read #1. Thanks for the heads up, Lisa.

That's disappointing news, Lisa.. I was looking forward to finding out the rest of the Wing Slayers stories. Thanks for the update.
