How Many Hours, Days, Weeks, Months???
I read your post Aths and I went back and I was re-reading the posts and I was giggling so hard I am in tears..smiles. I needed the giggles today..thx..smiles.
LOL, Debi! This thread is a great source of giggles! I read the whole thread once again, and couldn't stop giggling.
Hi, my name is Kristen and although I have at least 300 books to read in my bookcases, I ordered six books from PBS today. Nothing makes me happier than getting new/used books and adding them to my collection. I need major help:))))
Welcome Kristen!!! I feel the same way you do and that is why I am here...LOL!!!I have made it to Day 2 again..not sure how long this one is going to last..LOL
Debi, yesterday I actually picked up the latest Oprah magazine just because it said "Our Biggest, Best Summer Reading List Ever". I don't even like Oprah all that much....I even subscribed to the NY Times last year just for the book review section!!! Good luck with holding off - I have a feeling that I may be ordering more after I read Oprah's article...LOL!!!!!!!!!
Kristen..ROTFL..I get newsletters from three different online sites that sell books and Audiobooks to my email..is that as bad..LOL???? Our Lisa is back and lovin' it!!! smiles. Nice seeing you smile again..smiles.
Debi - Yup, I think that is just as bad!!!!!!! Of course, I could spend hours online going through the "posted today" section of PBS looking for a new and interesting read. My husband doesn't say anything, but I know that he finds it amusing that I can spend hours at night just browsing books, reading the reviews and adding books onto my wishlist. I've concluded that it is a sickness, but what a delightful sickness it is:).
Hi Kristen, welcome!I have made it to Day 2 again and since I don't have any plans to shop today, I believe I just might make it to Day 3-- whoo hooo!
Oh yeah Hubby is always asking me are you ever going to get off there..LOL!! And he will look to see what I am doing and of course I am adding them to my wishlist and he says your buying more books..and I turn look at him and say Nope I'm not buying them I am making a wishlist for you to buy them for me..LOL!!And he looks at me and just laughs and shakes his head..LOL!! He doesn't say to much about me buying books because of the money it is because he might have to buy me a 4th bookcase if I don't start reading the ones I have before buying anymore...LOL!! To him it doesn't make since if I am not reading the ones I have before buying more..LOL!! I tell him it's my healthy addiction..he laughs at me..LOL!! I think he things I am crazy sometimes..LOL!!
My husband had the nerve to tell me I had enough books and I should read what I have before I buy more. I told him when he stops watching so much tv I'll stop buying books. He shut up to that.
I'm either back to or still on Day 3, depending on how you want to look at it. Yeah, I just had to go to Costco on Friday, didn't I? sheesh.*insert eyeroll here*
Wow, I've made it to day four!! Feeling like I deserve a gift to myself........like.......a book!!!!:)))))
Since all of you are doing sooo good, I am thinking of trying to find a way to tempt you all to buy one. LOL!
No temptation needed here either. As a matter of fact.....I'm going to the grocery store today and just because I hate grocery shopping so much I may have to travel down the book aisle and let one of those books "jump" into my cart - I hear from some of you that these books have a tendency to to that ever-so-often and I certainly wouldn't complain. Day 5, but may be starting over soon:)))
LOL, Debi and Kristen! That's funny! I have been looking at the B&N site for some time to buy some ebooks. I don't when I will just click the Buy button (It already has my credit card on file). One of these days...

That is always my excuse SALES and DISCOUNTS..LOL!!Day 7 but can't see it going past the weekend without a buy...LOL!!
So I blew it (head hung low, looking at the ground) - I bought two books today while I was out. I knew it would happen and gosh it made me happy!!!!:))))
not me..:(:( when I come out of chapters with nothing..NOT even a discount book ..well..its like something is missing..Im empty handed..gosh..I feel naked!! should I go back in? double check? maybe I missed something?..oh geezz go home ..I have a problem here :(:(
ROTFL Sandi!!! Kristin as long as it made you happy that is all that counts..smiles.
Lisa as for me I am going to the Recycle Center this coming weekend and they have some nice looking books that people take in that they can't sell at there garage sales so there in great shape and they only charge $2 a bag..that is about 8 to 12 books. Just going to see what they have anything new that I have been looking for that is all so I don't go and pay full price for them..smiles. It saves me a lot of money..smiles.
well..Im going to be in real trouble july 8-11.Im flying my daughter home to spend a mother/daughter weekend up north at a resort with me( havent seen her in 5 years)BUT..this town nearby has 2 used book stores..(have lots of the oldies I like)so..I figure we will take some long hikes...she will come back to rest..out I sneek...:) naw.. shes use to it. from the time she was born...she got dragged around..knows all my haunts by now!
Not me, I'm back to Day 2 again. I stopped at Borders on Tuesday to get my husband a couple of books for his birthday. I know they aren't for me, but I still made a purchase so I walked back to the starting line...
*Evil messenger coming to tempt you :) *Barnes and Noble has an amazing clearance sale going on.
*Ok, I'm outta here, LOL!*
Debi wrote: "Trish I think it only counts if the books are for you not for hubby. :D!!!"I may have picked up one for myself too... ok, I did.
Oh dear. Have I really lost so much control that I have to disguise my purchases among birthday gifts for others? Did I buy those books for my hubby because I secretly want to read them?
And if that is the case, what is next for me? Buying grocery cartons and dumping out the contents to smuggle my books in undetected? Printing pages of e-books onto fabric to make a quilt for my bed? Wearing a bush jacket with bellowed pockets in the middle of summer in an effort to conceal all those perfect pages?
Oh the shame.
Trish ROTFLMAO!! Thanks for the great laughs today they were needed..smiles. This morning was why doesn't everyone push my damn buttons and piss me off one..LOL!
AHHH..the one nice thing about living alone now.. I dont have to sneak & hide ( yes Trish I think we are all guilty of what you speak of ) I remember visiting my son ..but hitting the used book store in his town BEFORE I got to his place! what kind of mother am I?? and of couse he comes out to the car to get my luggage..OMG..all those books are in the trunk!!!! he's going to think I think of books first!of course ounce the lid is up Im done..he rolls his eyes.."couldn't wait huh mom"? I hang my head in shame..but it was on the way in!... I just may use some of your tricks next visit! at least when I get home I dont have to worry..geeezzz not my fault there's a book store everywhere I go!
