How far is too far?

Do you reckon she realises that sometimes an author will be tested through a borrowed book, before money is spent on them? I got Poison Study from the library, and loved it so much I brought the full trilogy!

This part is SO arrogant:
"That one or two characters you thought were the best thing since sliced bread..."
Seriously?! Did you just actually call the characters you created the best thing since sliced bread? I'm drowning in her arrogance over here. Geez.
And this one:
"I really hate begging for that 48 cents per book."
You know what, Rob? I'm sorry you lost your non-writing job, but why don't you go get another one so you don't have to "beg" for that 48 cents. I bet that KFC employee you ridiculed online - for the entire world to read - would switch jobs with you.
I am disgusted... I have Roadkill on my to-read shelf at home and now I'm considering dropping it in the "donations" box at my library. I love Cal and Niko (from her series), but I think knowing this about the author is going to color my perception of the book.
Nasty, ungrateful old hag.

Form previous posts i see she has achived the exact opposite of what she wanted. I really enjoy her books, and as long as writes good books i'll buy them, but she has obviously alienated (potential)readers.
And i agree with twinfish2, if she were smart she'd have found a more positive approach to promote her books.

Well. That's a big F you. I'm making the unattractive codfish face of shock and awe. The arrogance of it all. I understand how painful it must be to have a series fail, but to take it out on readers is astonishing. Readers = money. You don't have to kiss my ass, but don't go kicking it either. We're all having hard times financially, so of course we understand where she's coming from, but this is definitely a case of going too far. Incredibly off-putting. She should be ranting privately to her fellows in the publishing industry rather than making her readership feel like they've failed her. Nasty attitude.

and counterproductive, as you can see by this thread, many have decided to no longer buy her books because of her attitude.
If Thurman had tried to be more positive, and proactive in the selling of her books maybe she would get fans. This was most definitely not the right way to go about it.
I'll never read another book by her.

I have seen her books in the store many times and have contemplated purchasing a few, but authors that I had read always won out. Well, she has made my decision VERY easy because now I won't even consider reading her books.
If she would have been able to endear (vs. alienate) herself to readers, I think she would find that many of us are incredibly loyal to our favorite/preferred authors...

I can appreciate the fact that she wants to be a writer for a living. It's a dream job for many people. But she could have gone about this in a totally different way that would have had fans rallying to support her.

Maybe her publisher realized how her posts were hurting her potential sales and told her to write something to that point...?
I was going to write Roc/Penguin (her publisher) to let them know how she is hurting herself, her sales, and THEIR sales by writing such things, but they don't make it easy to find a place to email. Oh well. :)

I'll give this author a break and say she just put her foot in it... bad... we all get it wrong sometimes and if you're famous, when you get it wrong a million people know about it.
I didn't pay for my copy of Nightlife but if she sends me a self addressed stamped envelope, I'll put forty-eight cents in it. If it cost forty-eight cents at the bookstore, I wouldn't have had to get my copy from someone else. Even paperbacks are outrageous these days.
But rather than hassling me, she ought so go after the big boys- like city public libraries- and mmm used bookstores... and don't forget that big cardboard box you can find in hospital waiting rooms with all sorts of paperbacks in it. That must really piss her off- the little paperback swap stations...
See she just didn't think it through. It happens. She stuck her foot in it.

And I never did get this old polyester thing people that think they are so high and mighty use to ridicule others with, but since that`s almost all any of us wear maybe we could put it to sleep for crying out loud.

No matter where you work, if I can see your underwear choices through your clothes, I'm probably going to make fun of you.

Travesty.

Travesty."
LOL! Unless the chick was 5 years old or younger, that's unacceptable.

Do you think she did that on purpose,I have some cousins that purposly wear white outer and really crazy undies.
Any way its been a long time since I`ve seen polka dot undies !!LOL

So do I, but I don't wear them when I have on a white skirt lol

I don't think it was done purposefully. At least I can pray it wasn't!
Although I wouldn't personally do it, I can understand wearing something for fun contrast under a white shirt. But a skirt or pants?! Heavens, no.

The world's gone crazy....O_o

I want to get some polka dot panties ,since this thread I can`t get loose from the idea that I need some
I must have been about 10 the last ones I had and I`m just sure I need some more ! :)

I'm 47 and I weigh 245 pounds - size 24 if any of you out there want to send me some white shorts or something-

Crystal, thats what I thought, thats why I need to run out and get some,I already have some white jeans.

I do believe you have started a new fashion craze with that post, what a shame if you hadn`t seen her :)

I also keep seeing light colored shirts with animal print bras. How do we feel about that?
And can anyone above a size 2 pull off jeggings?

Tacky to the bra!!
And for the leggings, those should only be worn at home.

As for the leggings, some women can pull them off and some definitely can't. But it seems to be a universal trend at the moment.

lol... we are an eclectic group :)

"I received my royalty check (which puts the KFC worker I saw today with her polyester pants so tight I could see her thong in a better earn..."
Yeah I completely agree. She's being condescending and looking down at someone she believes is "below" her. At least this woman at KFC is working for a living, meanwhile Thurman is whining about her probably great life.
She's really rude.
