I call it "football" as well. I mean, what the fuck is "soccer"? How the fuck does one "socc?"

Frikkiin' A right KD. The best seats are always on the 50 YARD line. Actually though, the sport is American Football, we just don't use it here. Do Canadians refer to their sport as Canadian Football? I really don't know - my guess is that they don't. Anyone know for sure?

No, boot, as in the boot of the car. My cousins grew up in Paupa New Guinea, so they have all these affected Australian/New Zealand language quirks. They too bristle at the soccer/football overlap, as well as the boot/trunk one. There are a few more, but I find them all pretentious and absurd.
Ahhh - very cool Sally. Me n my friends used to watch quite a bit of Australian Rules Football....Footy I believe. I do enjoy all forms of the sport. The Australian rugby teams have the best, and most profane drinking songs.

I've not really watched much football before recently. I can thank my friend, Susie, for my newfound interest. She's teaching me about the game (hey! I don't watch tv. Gimme a break.). She affectionately calls it "footie." She also carries a sweet Bayern tote around with her when she travels.
