FirstReads
I started a little already and then opened a Buddy Reads thread in this group. I'm likely to fully devote time at the start of February. This week is my bday :)
I just found out this morning that I won a copy of The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern!! This is my 2nd First Reads win, and I'm just as excited this time as I was the first time! LOL
Thanks for the tips everyone! I too won one within a few weeks of my first entry, and then another less than a month later. I was quick with the read/review of the first but the other was delayed almost a year after being misplaced in a move :o( I'll definitely keep trying and stay more on top of any I win. I love the idea of the First Reads bookshelf as well. Thanks again!

Have you read anything else by her?
Thanks guys! :) @Usako... Thanks! And I'll be sure to post a review when I finish it ;)
And @Joanne.. congrats to you too! I've never read anything by her before, although I do have a copy of her book PS, I Love You that I need to read.
I won An Amish Love: Healing Hearts/What the Heart Sees/A Marriage of the Heart (Inspirational Amish Anthology by Beth Wiseman. I forgot that I entered to win this book and next thing I know there is a package at the door! I love getting packages.
I never knew about this program in GoodReads. Very interesting. I'd participate if they gave out free Kindle books. I don't need more physical books to clutter up my house.
Are the books you get from FirstReads ARCs or the actual new release copy? I used to get a lot of ARCs when I worked at a bookstore, which was extremely cool.
Most of the ones I have won are ARC's, but a few have been the actual books. I love getting free books!

If you enter and win an actual book, then more reviews for the author are good.

I know that some of them are ARC's... and it's nice when you sign up for the giveaways when they state that it's an ARC... then you can decide whether or not you want to participate in the giveaway ;)

I just won my first book! It's called Solitaire by Kelley Eskridge and I'm looking forward to reading it - it sounds good. Now let's hope it ships quickly... :-)
Kate wrote: "I just won my first FirstReads book! So excited. The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake"WOW Congrats Kate. I ve been wanting to read that one. Enjoy!! :)

Thanks! The funny thing was I almost picked it up at the library yesterday and then decided to wait awhile.
I just recently started entering to win. I've never won anything in my life lol. Maybe I'll get lucky...
Kate wrote: "I just won my first FirstReads book! So excited. The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake"Congrats!!! I just won a book myself last week and looking forward to it getting here ;) Enjoy your new book!! :)

My FirstReads win (Solitaire) arrived yesterday and they gave me an extra book, too! How exciting! I'd like to finish my current book before starting these but I did read the first few pages of Solitaire and it grabbed me. I'm looking forward to reading it soon.
I just won my 2nd First Reads, The Oracle of Stamboul. My first was The Winter Ghosts. I'm looking forward to them.
Terri wrote: "What is a FirstReads? Where do you go to enter?"Go to "explore" at the top of your goodreads page and click on it. Then look for "giveaways" and click on that. If you see a book you'd like, click on "enter to win." Have fun!
Jo wrote: "I just won my 2nd First Reads, The Oracle of Stamboul. My first was The Winter Ghosts. I'm looking forward to them."My first win was WINTER GHOSTS too from 12-31-10. Have you received yours yet? This is week 6 since I won, though I did read that delivery was approx. 4-6 weeks.
I received mine in January - oddly enough I didn't get the goodreads email notifying me I'd won so it was a total surprise! I did get the email for Stambul so hopefully I actually get the book lol!
I find the emails are haphazard. I go in and check to see if I've won anything. You can also find the giveaways by going to "find books", then "giveaways". Good luck!!
I just go back into giveaways and then click on the drop down menu - there are various choices "giveaways you've entered", "end date", "won", and one or two others. I LOVE the giveaways!! :-)Sorry ... the above is a little wrong. Go to giveaways, then giveaways you've entered. THEN there is a drop down menu with several choices.
Jo wrote: "I just rec'd The Oracle of Stamboul yesterday!"So did I! I can't wait to read it either. And the little gold wrapper it came in was so cute!

Congrats, it looks like an intriguing novel! =D
I recently won an FR copy of The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. Can't wait to get around to reading it =)
I think they hate me over at first reads. I have entered so many and have won 2 times in 3 years. Some win like 3 times a week. I think i was born under a bad moon or something ;)
I feel a bit guilty at how many I've won. I now limit my entries ... still winning, but not as often. I feel blessed by all the books!
I won the first time I entered. Never again.. LOLguess first times the charm.
Hey Martha & Jo, maybe it's lottery ticket buyin' time? :)
I should!! That's one reason I've not stopped entering. I've never won anything before & hate to stop the winning streak. I wish I could read faster so I could get caught up with the reviews. Ah well, someday. The best part is that most of them have been very good books!!
