The economy is down and many people can't afford to take a summer vacation away from home. So logically if you can't go away you have to bring the destination to you and since the beach is probably the most popular destination for summer travelers that's what we'll do for this task by...Reading a book that has a beach scene on the cover.
EXAMPLE: Life's a Beach by Claire Cook

If you need suggestions OR have suggestions for books to read for this task post them here.

Thanks! It looks like any edition of The Sea will work. And I know what you mean about options - I always post a list of alternate book for myself in the even that I want to change things up later on.

It looks like it could be a beach in the background and since the title is The Island I'll allow it.

Aww thanks! I'm trying really hard to find something from Maugham to put into this challenge! =) I have a great little collection of Perry Masons from the same period - they are really neat to look at. =)

message 34: by Donna Jo (new)

Donna Jo Atwood | 2412 comments I also like that the guy's knees look sunburnt. Somehow, his legs look mis-shapen--like the thighs are too long or something. Reminds me of the weird anatomy on the old Barbara Cartland covers in the 60's and 70's where the girl's knees and hips always seemed like they were on backwards.
