Wendy | 13 comments Can anyone remember the name of a story from Jackanory years and years ago... I seem to think Bernard Cribbens read it. It was about wooden horses from a merrygoround that came to life at night time and I recall it being quite sad. I thought it was called Moon on the Water but I can't find anything on the web. Thanks for your time.

This probably isn't the one you mean, but just in case:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14...

"Bored with his life on the merry-go-round, a little wooden horse decides to run away."

Wendy | 13 comments Thanks, but no, it's not that one. I think there was a group of about four horses that stuck together.

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 289 comments There's a list of all the Jackanory stories that Cribbins read here. If none of those ring a bell, there's also a complete list of episodes.

Wendy | 13 comments Thank you, but I don't see anything on that list that rings a bell and I'm not sure if that title is just misleading me. Come to think of it, it could have been Ronald Pickup who read it.

Wendy | 13 comments I've found it. It is called the Moon on the Water by Nina Warner-Hooke. Thank you for your time.

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 289 comments I'm glad you found it. (Too bad it seems to be long out of print and quite pricey -- I'd be interested in reading it, but not enough to cough up $250. :)
