Carrie (blondie515) | 17 comments Hi Sparks fans! My name is Carrie, I'm going to be 26 on Saturday, and I am from Florida, USA.

I discovered Sparks when I had to do a book report back in High School. I wasn't much of a reader, but my Mom loves to read and has many books. She suggested I read, 'The Guardian' because it was a really good book. So I did, and LOVED it. Ever since then I have been hooked. I have tried other authors, and although I have found some I can get into, none are as good as Nicholas Sparks. I don't know what it is, but he is just an amazing writer! There is no other author that I am able to get into as much as I can his books.

My favorite books are The Guardian (Of course, it was the one that made me a Sparks lover!), Dear John, The Lucky One & The Choice. Although I liked every single book he wrote, those were probably my most favorite. I can read all his books over and over again! :)

I also love all his movies. I know most are very different then the books, but I watch the movies knowing that. I don't expect them to follow the books, because they never do. So I don't get too disappointed when they don't follow too well. I loved Dear John, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, & Nights in Rodanthe! I haven't seen Message in a Bottle or The Last Song yet, but hope to very soon! :)

Carrie (blondie515) | 17 comments St. Augustine is my most favorite place in Florida! I love it there. It is so beautiful. I used to go there every 4th of July, but I haven't been in 4 years!! I'm planning on going this year, hope it goes through. Florida is okay. I visited Charleston, SC for the Dear John premiere, and fell in love with that city. I would much rather live in SC or NC, TN. Those places are so beautiful! But, the only complaint I have about FL is the weather, it is sooo hot. And the people here are just so rude compared to other states I have visited. But, other then that, it's okay. The beaches are beautiful. :)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments Hey ya'll I'm Sherri. I'm 25 and from Florida also.

I discovered Nicholas Sparks after seeing The Notebook movie.

I've only read 3 of his books (The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, and Message In A Bottle) but I have loved each one of them!!! However I have to say I hated the Message In A Bottle Movie. I loved the other 2 though!!! I am planning to read all of the Sparks books sometime though.

I really hope I can make it up there this year! I miss it. That is where I am from, Ft. Lauderdale. I would much rather choose St Augustine, but maybe thats because I lived here my whole life. It's not that bad of a place, I'm probably making it sound a lot worse then it is haha. I just prefer upper Florida. :)

Hi Sherri! Where in FL are you from? You hate I have not seen the MIAB movie yet, but plan to one day! But from the sounds of it it wasn't that good huh? I loved The Notebook & Dear John the best out of all his films. :)

I live in Martin County...about 30 mins North of West Palm. I love to go to Ft. Lauderdale to go to the Sawgrass Mall.

About the MIAB movie, I didn't not like it at all. Before it was even half way through I was looking to see how much time I had left of the movie b/c it was boring me, I just kept watching it b/c I loved the book so much and was wanting something great to happen but it didn't. You never know though, you may like it.

message 8: by Yvette (new)

Yvette (yjacobs99) My name is Yvette Jacobs, I recently turned 40 and I reside in the United States. I was introduced to Nichlas Sparks by my mother-in-law who is also an avid reader. So far my favorite book is "The Last Song". It was heartfelt and inspiring. Nothing like a good tear jerker. I love the Sparks novels so much because the stories take place in North Carolina which is where I live and the characters seem so real. The stories make me laugh and cry and once I start one of his books I can't put it down until I am done.

Well when you're used to the little dinky mall I have here the Sawgrass is amazing!

message 11: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne Hi my names Adrienne, and I'm from Birmingham in the UK. I was introduced to Nicholas Sparks by my friend Mahyar, who knew I liked emotional reads that didn't necessarily have a HEA. So far I've only read The Notebook and True Believer but I know what I like, and I loved these, now I'm read Message in a Bottle. I'm a firm believer in fate, with things like books, stories and people finding you, rather than the other way round.

message 12: by Amy (new)

Amy (apurpledolphin) | 4 comments Hello, my name's Amy. I am a Nicholas Sparks movie fan and although I have a couple of books written by Nicholas Sparks, I've only read 2 of them (Dear John & The Choice). His books are moving and they make me think about the characters a lot. They're not generally the type of books I'd pick up and read when I really want a book to crawl into, but I love them still. The Notebook is my all-time favorite movie (ever!) and although I do own a copy of the book, I have note read it yet. I've discovered that the book is in a different format than the movie was. Anyways, I think I own 6 of his novels and I do plan on reading them all one day (hopefully soon).

message 13: by Amalie (new)

Amalie Hello my name is Amalie

i'm 15 years old (a little younger than the rest of you :I)

I live in a tiny chilly country called Denmark (north of Germany)

I discovered Sparks one day when I (finally) noticed that allot of movies that i wanted to watch or had already seen was actually based on his novels.

So far I only own/have read 2 of his novels (Dear John & The last song) but i'm going to L.A. for the summer and have planned to buy and read as many as of his novels that i can get my dirty hands on ;D

My favorite Sparks book (so far) is 'The Last Song' because I just love to read about how Ronni grows from being an angry, confused and rebellic teenager into being a phenomonal women

I also really like Dear John but the ending is just WAY too sad

I love Sparks because that even though his books is centered around the romantic kind of love the books also really get into the other kinds of love (sibling love, parental love, religious love etc.) And somehow he just manages to make totally normal human experinces, magical in his own Unique way :)

message 14: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne Hi Amalie, if you like Sparks you may also like Sarah Dessen, her books are YA they're lovely emotional stories which aren't always resolved with a HEA, but life isn't about HEAs is it, it's about the journey and finding things that make you happy at that moment in time.

message 15: by Amalie (new)

Amalie Wow what a welcome, thanks :D I will definetly check Sarah Dessen out (:

And about the HEAs i think youre totally right regarding the whole thing about not focusing on the destinatioan but the journey.

And allot of books are just better story wise without the HEAs.

That is actually one of the many things i like about books. Because a book can still be GREAT even though everything dosn't end in complete peace, love and pretty unicorns ;)

message 16: by Amalie (new)

Amalie Oh and by the way Adrienne. Which of Sarah Dessen books do you recomend that I should read first ??

message 17: by Adrienne (last edited Jun 22, 2010 01:31PM) (new)

Adrienne The first one I read was The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen I really enjoyed it, enough to give 5 stars if you click on the book you'll be re-directed to the blurb and should be able to read my review that way as my profile is set to private. I've also read Lock and Key and Someone Like You and enjoyed both of those too!

message 18: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments The Truth about Forever is amazing!

message 19: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments I love Sarah Dessen and the Truth About Forever is my favorite one!!!

However, I'd reccomend reading them in order of publication b/c there are some pretty cool cross overs.

message 20: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne Thanks Sherri...I'll need to see what the library has as I'm eading way out of order:) It's nicewen you can follw peopple in stories, even in just a small way,I noticed the characters from TTaF appear in the mall in LaK.

message 21: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments Yep...and there's so many more if you pay close attention. You can look them all up online too.

message 22: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (blondie515) | 17 comments I am going to have to check her out! I'm always looking for new books/authors to read, since I have read every single Nicholas Sparks book more then once.
Amalie---you are from Denmark? That is so awesome. My Moms family is from there, so I am Danish. I want to visit there one day and see all the places my Grandma used to talk about. I will, one day! :)

message 23: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne I'm reading The Last Summer it has a similar feel to NS and SD. If you like things that are very racy you could try Megan Hart....

message 24: by Christina rae (new)

Christina rae (chrisyraejay) | 23 comments Let's post in here:
-Chris , 24, Canada
-I was introduced to Sparks by watching his movies. I started reading A Walk to Remember and was instanly hooked to the collection
-My favourite book would have to be A Walk to Remember.

--I love Sparks and his books so much for thier relatabilty, and the quest to keep love going is great too.

message 25: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Paige (authorlindsaypaige) Hey! I'm Lindsay. I'm 16 and live in the USA.
-I believe I discovered Sparks in the 7th grade. If my memory serves me correctly, my sister had his book The Guardian and I borrowed it. Loved it!
-I have quite a few favorites by him. I've read all of his books except True Believer because I read At First Sight first and then didn't really feel like reading True Believer. But my favorites are The Rescue (my true favorite), A Walk To Remember, The Lucky One and The Guardian.
-I love him and his books because you get so caught up in the story that you get attached to the characters and you can't set the book down. If an author can make me cry, then you know he/she is good!

message 26: by Kim (new)

Kim | 3 comments Hey! I'm Kim and I'm 16 and I live in Wisconsin, USA.

I discovered Sparks from scanning one of my friend's bookshelves for something good to read. I picked up A Walk To Remember, and it looked interesting after reading the inside flap. I absolutely loved it and I just had to read his other books!

My favorite...I really liked The Last Song because of Will. I loved his character and his ability to fall in love with someone who was totally different from who he was. A Walk to Remember and The Guardian are also two of my favorites.

I absolutely love Sparks because of his ability to capture you into his stories. Almost all of his books have made me cry, which I love in a good story!

message 27: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kiirs10) | 1 comments hi! My name's Kirsten, I'm 15 and I'm from the Philippines.

I discovered Sparks through a friend, and since then I've been a HUGE fan. In fact, I've read all of his novels, and I can't wait for the next one.

My favorite book (it was hard to pick just one) is The Last Song. It's my favorite not just because of the story of Ronnie & Will, but also because of the father-daughter parts.

I love Sparks because his books are mostly tragic. For some reason, I just really like tragic books. Most of them make me cry, and I always get to pick up life lessons from his books.

Jessica | 3 comments Hi! I'm Jessica, 27, from South Florida.

My first exposure to Nicholas Sparks was via the movie The Notebook. Since then I've read 2 or 3 others, and am currently reading A Bend in the Road.

I love Sparks' novels because of the emotion, and reality put into the characters. He's an amazing writer.

I have read five of his books and I am currently reading The last song.

message 34: by Candice (new)

Candice (candydulce) | 13 comments hey ya'll! No seriously, Hi! My name is Candice, I'm 28, and live in Utah. I have only read 2 of NS books (Dear John and The Lucky One). I loved the movies the Message in the Bottle, A Walk to Remember, and the Notebook. When Dear John was in theatres is when I realized Sparks wrote the other three. When I found out I read Dear John before watching the movie. The movie changed a lot of the story line (like Alan being Tim's son rather than brother), but it still worked. I am on my libraries waiting list to read all the NS books they have. I cried while watching all four of those movies and reading the two books. I love how NS tells stories. Can't wait for more.

message 35: by Candice (new)

Candice (candydulce) | 13 comments oh, I forgot, I read Nights in Rodanthe. I can't believe I forgot that one. It's one of my favorites.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 22 comments I'm MLPMom, I am 31 years old from the USA and I love all Nicholas Sparks books.
I first discovered him when my sister in law gave me A Walk to Remember one year for Christmas and I have loved his books ever since!
It would be really hard to choose just one favorite book but some of my all time favorites would be A Walk to Remember, Nights in Rodanthe, The Choice and The Last Song to name a few, lol.

If I haven't read all of his books then I have seen all of the movies.

I don't think I can pin point exactly what I love most about his work, the romance, the characters, the stuggles they all go through, the undying love for one another? Maybe all of it and more.

message 37: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Sellers (samantha62477) My name is Samantha, I am 33 years old and was born, raised, and still live in Raleigh, NC, USA.

I remember when I was younger watching A Message in a Bottle, then A Walk to Remember, and The Notebook. I still did not read a book of his until The Lucky One came out and I found out that NS was coming to Raleigh for a book signing then I really got interested in reading his books.

The Last One has been my favorite so far, but there are still more for me to read.....so this isn't a definite yet. I like Sparks because love is hard and he doesn't make it a fairy tale there is such a thing called life that is thrown in with it and life is not always a book and Sparks doesn't let you forget that.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) My name is Kayleigh, I am 19 and I live in the north east of England.

I first discovered Nicholas Sparks after watching Message in a Bottle with my mum and then looked up the author.

At the moment I have only read The Notebook and Dear John. I gave both 5 stars as I love them both. I am currently reading Message in a Bottle. I have about 7 of his books on my shelf but whenever I'm reading I always read other books in between Nicholas Sparks books as I cry so much at them.

Dear John is my favourite book up to now but I've only read 2 and it was the first Nicholas Sparks book I read.

I love Nicholas Sparks as I am a sucker for a good love story and his are amazing love stories. His characters are not romanticised and they make mistakes just like normal people and I like that fact, that they make mistakes. Also each book I have read is so moving that it has always stayed with me long after I have finished reading.

message 39: by Phyllis (new)

Phyllis My name is Phyllis and I live in Florida. I am a former elementary school teacher from NJ. I got into Sparks when my daughter introduced me to his book, The Notebook. I was hooked after that. I would love to discuss his new book, Safe Haven, with others who have read it already. The ending would be the part I want to focus on. I thought it was a great book with lots of suspense.

message 40: by Phyllis (new)

Phyllis I live in Kissimmee. Where do you live? So what did you think of Safe Haven?

message 41: by Phyllis (new)

Phyllis I thought it was good and the last part of the book was very suspenseful. Hard to fall asleep after finishing it!! I was a little confused by one part of the ending. How can we discuss this without letting others know any of the details?

Melody 🦋📚 (auntiemelody) Hello,

Stacy | 16 comments Hi! My name is Stacy, I'm 27, and live in Pennsylvania. I discovered Sparks after reading A Walk to Remember when I was in high school. That quickly followed by the movie, then The Notebook and the Wedding. I just love his books. When member stated that he doesn't always write happy endings because that's reality. I have to agree, I think that's what appeals to me because you can't always predict what's going to happen. I've read all his books, and just bought Safe Haven. A Walk to Remember remains my favorite I think because it was my first. The only one that I really didn't care for was True Believer.
