Kari Jennifer (karijennifer) | 5 comments Hi, my name is Kari, I am 18 years old, and I was born in New York.

I discovered Sparks by my mother, when I was at a young age she was reading books by him and as I grew older, I read some of his books. I haven't read all his books but my favorite one is probably A Bend in the Road.

I like Nicholas so much because he knows how to create a romance novel. It's amazing, what he does. He questions the real meaning of love. I started reading his books around the age of 10 or 11, and I remember when I finished the book Dear John, I was touched. I then realized that I wanted someone the love me then way John had loved Savannah. He really touches my soul.

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) My name is Beatrice, 17 yers old, from Las Pinas City, Philippines.

I discovered Nicholas Sparks from a movie called "A Walk to Remember" that was a year ago. (yeah I'm late) I borrowed books from my classmate who is a Nicholas Sparks fan (Dear John, Nights in Rodanthe and A Walk to Remember) and from that day I used to love his novels.

My favorite novel from him, so far, Safe Haven. That is because of it's uniqueness. There was suspense and it really touches my heart on the end.

I love him because of the way he writes his books that in a way touches people's lives. His novels may happen in reality we'll never know. I went to his book signing tour of 'The Best of Me' here in Philippines. Love and Tragedy are always in combination. We fell in love and find our soulmate, but in the end it will always end in tragedy, because we don't live forever.

message 155: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) My name is Jenny, I am 34 years old from Iowa, USA.

My favorite SParks book to date is still "A Walk to Remember." There are so many other great books of his I love ,too. But this one is still my favorite!

I like reading Nicholas Sparks because his books have true romance without all the XXX rating to it! Great stories about people and families!

message 156: by Denise (new)

Denise (deelilahbard) | 4 comments Hi! I'm Denise from Philippines. I'm 16, turning 17 this month. :)

Actually, I wasn't yet a fan of reading books before, until I discovered Nicholas Sparks. My friends and I were at a book sale/bookstore that time. I was looking at the bestsellers section and then I saw books written by Nicholas Sparks. I was a bit interested to buy one because I'm a huge fan of Jordin Sparks and they have the same surname. XD So, basically, I was just interested because of his surname. The books that were there were Message In A Bottle (I can't remember the other books). I didn't buy it right away because my money wasn't enough. I told myself that I'd just get back in that bookstore the next week to buy it.
I went back to the bookstore a week after to finally buy the book. But, it wasn't there anymore. :( Someone bought it already and that was when I saw The Last Song. It was a new arrival at that time and I really wanted to read it since the movie already came out. So, I bought it. And that's where I got my interest in reading back and became a Nicholas Sparks' huge fan.

My favorite book would be The Rescue. Definitely because the main character and I have the same name. :) But seriously, I love every single book that I've read.

message 157: by Katie (new)

Katie (noeyeballs) | 4 comments Hi Everyone! My name is Katie, I am a 26 year old from Burlington, Ontario.

My favourite film as a teenager was A Walk to Remember and I had no idea it was based off a novel by Sparks. It was not until I read my first book by him, which was The Notebook, that I discovered he also wrote A Walk to Remember. I thought that if this movie could be so touching his writing must be just as or more touching and I was right.

My favoutie book would have to be The Notebook followed by the Wedding. The Notebook captures young love at its best and worst and the decisions that are faced when love is involved. Reading it takes me back into this world that seems so far away now, where things were simple and romantic and love is always in the air.

I love Sparks's books because they are about falling in love. I know with his more recent publications the stories seems to blend together, but love is always a character. Reading his novels make me happy and sad and he will always be one of my favourites!

message 158: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenniferdenise) Hi there! I'm Jen. I'm from Ontario, Canada. I've just begun to read Nicholas Sparks and have enjoyed the books so far. The first book I read was The Last Song. This summer I enjoyed Safe Haven. Today, I've downloaded The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks and will start reading it tonight. Other than that, I've seen a couple of movies based on Sparks' books. I look forward to getting other Sparks' recommendations for future reading.

Kayla (krs209) | 5 comments Hello! My name is Kayla and I am 21 years old, I live in the USA (Virginia). I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks for a long time, I love his writing and can not get enough of his books! My favorite would have to be The Notebook, such a great book.

Hannah (behindonreading) | 2 comments My name is Hannah. You can call me Hannah or Andie, either one works. I'm 14 and live in the US.

I first started reading Nicholas Sparks last year around this time. I've only read two of his books so far, The Last Song and Safe Haven. Both were fantastic and I'm hoping this group will give me ideas on which ones to read next.

message 161: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Hi, my name is Shannon :)
I started reading Nicholas Sparks after I saw the movie "A Walk To Remember", it is one of my favourite movies now :) I read "The Last Song" (and watched the movie :D), "The Notebook", "Dear John", "The Wedding" and I am going to read "At First Sight" soon :) I am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks books. I love how he uses tiny details that add more to the stories that he writes and his style of writing that captures the audience's attention. I love how he is able to create beautiful stories that contain sadness and happiness, he is always able to find a way to make the reader feel sad or happy depending on what is happening in the books.

Shannon Thanks :)

message 163: by Leana (new)

Leana | 3 comments Hi everyone!

Im Lea. I'm 22 years old from Philippines. I love Nicholas Sparks since highshool years. My first love was THE NOTEBOOK, and since then, I followed his writings whenever i can afford his works. For me, his best work from what I've read is "THE WEDDING". It chilled my heart inside out. Whenever I go to booksale, I make it a point to scan for Nicholas Sparks books, hoping for a great buy.

I really enjoyed his works, maybe because, I love sad stories, those who has no happy endings because it is one of the basic truths in life. You can never have everything perfect, maybe, just perfect for you.

message 164: by Leana (new)

Leana | 3 comments @kyle, thanks :) i agree. Sparks is one of the best romance novel authors I've ever read.

message 168: by Leana (new)

Leana | 3 comments Hi Gina! I'm also from the Philippines. I'm sorry but The Time Traveler's Wife is not written by Nicholas Sparks. It's by Audrey Niffenegger. I am still to read it. But I've seen the movie and I also love it anyway :)

message 169: by Clouddancer (new)

Clouddancer | 4 comments Hi, my Name is Helen. I am 16 years old and from Germany, although I live with my Aunt and Uncle in The UK for a year. I found out about Nicholas Sparks after watching a film based on one of his novels (can't remember wich one actually, it was quite a whle ago) and went to the library on the next day, getting all the books they had from him. I fell in love with his books immediately, because Sparks writes his novels, so that you think you really know the people in the book. My favorite book is message in a Bottle. I cried so hard at the end (actually I even cried the next morning when I woke up and remembered the end :D). I also really like The Last song and the Notebook. I also watched the films, but I think the books are just sooo good!! <3

message 170: by Clouddancer (new)

Clouddancer | 4 comments Oh, and I love Dear John too (there are just too many books of him to remember...)

message 171: by Clouddancer (new)

Clouddancer | 4 comments thank you! :)

message 172: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 11 comments Hello All,

My name is Sarah, I live in Washington State.
I was introduced to the author through a great friend and we have been swapping his titles ever since. I think my favorite book is Nights in Rodanthe, becuase of the theme of finding love "the second time around." I love how he can break your heart and mend the pieces back together in a single volume. I am a hopeless romantic at heart, and he just keeps that spirit alive within me:)

message 173: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Richardson (weiderjl) Hi I am Jenn, I am 22 years old and live in the U.S.

My Grandmother introduced me to Nicholas Sparks. She gave me the book "A Walk to Remember". I have been reading his books ever since :)

I LOVED "Dear John" not just because of the love story but because of the Father-Son relationship that develops throughout the book. I love the last song for that reason as well, it is more than just a love story, there are other relationships that develop in both books.

I Love Mr. Sparks because his stories are always realistic, no fairy tales. He writes about things that happen to everyday people and all of them have life lessons worked in.

message 174: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (nikongirl) Hi! My name is Kelisa and I'm 35. I first discovered Nicholas Sparks in wal-mart of all places, while searching for a book to read during an upcoming flight. I am quite embarrassed to admit I had no idea at the time that he had in fact written 'The Notebook' and 'Nights in Rodanthe'- 2 movies, which to this day, still make me bawl when I see them.
I have since read the books, will read them again, and have many more on my to-read list.

I'm so happy to have found Goodreads and look forward to spending time discovering new books. I just added my first friend a few minutes ago and would love to have more. I enjoy reading peoples reviews and finding books I wouldnt have otherwise found on my own.

Lindsay (sweetpea8810) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Lindsay and I am 23 years old. I think I discovered Nicholas Sparks because of A Walk to Remember. I had seen the movie and then realized that Nicholas Sparks had wrote the book. My favorite book so far of his is The Guardian. I think I cry in everyone of his books. I love the Sparks so much because I like how he writes and how he describes things in his books. He makes me laugh and cry. That is a good author.

Zumbagirl | 1 comments Hi, I'm Zumbagirl (I like to Zumba) and I'm 38 and live in the US. My first intro to Nicholas Sparks was the movie The Notebook, which I loved and had to get the book - which I loved even more!!!! I've also read Dear John, The Last Song, and Safe Haven. My favorite is still The Notebook - I loved the vivid imagery depicted from Ally's clothes to the scene when Noah takes her out to see the swans. His other books were good too.

I discovered Sparks in a old readers digest book. I read A Walk to remember and was hooked. Is impossible for me to walk past one of his books.

message 184: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Owen Hi, my name is Katherine Owen. I'm old enough and live near Seattle, WA.

My favorite Nicholas Sparks book is The Lucky One. That story just stays with me. I also loved Dear John. I have The Best Of Me loaded on my Kindle, but am saving it for a while.

I write contemporary fiction, too, and, like Sparks, deal with heavy themes such as love, tragedy, and fate. Between reading his works and writing my own, I keep busy, together, and out of trouble, most of the time. : )

Best,
Katherine Owen

Carla (carlaborralho) Hello everyone :)
My name is Carla, I'm 19 and I'm from Portugal.

I discovered Nicholas Sparks after reading The Last Song, before that I know who he was, but I'd never read anything from him.

Probably my favourite book is The Last Song.

I love his book 'cause they're so passionate, and always full of tragedies. They make me cry everytime.

Maureen | 1 comments Hi, i'm maureen! :) i'm 16 and i'm from the Philippines.

i didn't know who Nicholas sparks was until my father bought a dvd of the movie A Walk to Remember. after watching the movie, i asked one my classmates if she knows nicholas sparks and she said yes, she let me borrow "a walk to remember" and "dear john" and i absolutely loved both.

my favorite book would be a walk to remember since its the first work of nicholas sparks that i've watched and read.

i love his books because of the twists in each stories. you know that the ending would be tragic, but you would not expect that it would be that kind of ending.

message 189: by Isabel (new)

Isabel (isabelc) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Isabel, am 17 and live in the UK and started reading Nicholas Sparks' books after watching Message in a Bottle. But apart from the Notebook, the films don't match up to the books in my opinion, as the books are so brilliant. :)

message 190: by Jenia (new)

Jenia (storyteller_86) | 25 comments Hi everyone my name is Jenia, I'm 25 years old and orginally from Russia, Moscow but been in United States for past 12 years. I live in Northern Virginia.

When i was 16 years old, i watched a walk to remeber with my boyfriend at time, and the notebook not long after. On my 17th birthday i got A Walk To Remeber & The Notebook novels. I read them within week and been a big fan ever since.

That's hard, i love most of his books but if i had pick it be A Walk To Remeber, The Notebook, The Lucky One, The Last Song, Dear John & Best Of Me.

I just love the way he writes all of his stories, the way he connects the characters with one another, and i also like the fact that not all of them have happily ever after endings. He has a great talent.

I met him at a book signing once for Dear John and have to say he is super nice in person and of course very handsome!!

message 193: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Cramer-Kelly (traceycramer-kelly) Tracey here in Minnesota, USA. I discovered Sparks some time ago, even mentioned his writing as a favorite on my first blog tour three years ago (when my first book was published).

Then I kind of forgot about him until the Nights in Rodanthe movie came out. I'm a Richard Gere fan so had to see that. Now I really want to see Dear John (my second novel stars a military veteran) - I've been so busy lately I didn't realize it was a movie and that it was Sparks!!

What I like about Sparks is that he often uses more "mature" (you could read it as "older") characters. They have some mileage on 'em and some baggage, and he just does a great job developing their characters and drawing you in with emotion until you think you know them personally...
