Brianna (The Book Vixen) (thebookvixen) I don't know how I didn't know about this group until now!

I'm a 31 y/o vixen living in the U.S. of A. I discovered Sparks after watching The Notebook. When I found out that the movie was based on a novel, I went out and picked it up. I haven't looked back since. I own every one of his books and the only ones I haven't read yet are Safe Haven, The Wedding and Three Weeks With My Brother.

My favorite book at this point is The Notebook. I love Allie and Noah.

I love reading his novels because he makes me go through a full range of emotions. He definitely knows how to tug at the heart strings.

I had the pleasure of attending one of his speaking engagements recently for the release of Safe Haven and it was the highlight of my year!

I look forward to chatting with fellow fans :)

Melody 🦋📚 (auntiemelody) Hi BookVixen,
Welcome to the group! I've read every Nicholas Sparks book as well except Safe Haven which I'm on hold for @ the library :)I got into him by seeing a few of his movies and thought I wanna start reading his books. I agree they do tug at your heartstrings.Well I hope you enjoy the group

Hi
I'm Lindsey and I am 32, i'm from London in the UK.
I started out watching A walk to remember and the notebook which I loved. Then I decided to read a walk to remember and realised that they changed so much of it that I wish I had read it first. So now im on a mission that by the end of 2011 I want to have read them all. this is my challenge. I am really into paranormal books at the moment so for 2011 these books will ground me into reality.

message 59: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Joyner (countrygirlreads953) | 6 comments Well lots of luck I first read the Notebook and was hooked so I made it a mission as well to read all of them and yes always read the books because the movies chop the books up. Good Luck

My name is Breanna, I am 16 and from the East Coast of the U.S.

I discovered Nicholas Sparks after seeing A Walk to Remember. I decided to buy one of his books, and thats where I fell in love with his books.

I have only read two of his books, The Last Song and The Wedding, which I enjoyed.

So far, the Last Song has to be my favorite. Just a great book that everyone can relate to at some point.
Love is hard, but we all get through it,and we all experience it.

Edel Waugh Salisbury (edellittlebookfairy) | 2 comments Hi my name is Edel I am 31 from Ireland.I first heard about this writer after I had watched the notebook.. After realising that he had written quite a few books I was thrilled!!!
I am going to say my favourite book is Safe Haven( partly because I have just read that one).. I have alot of his books yet to read..
I just love the way you become so interested in the characters and you feel something when reading his books.. it's not simply flipping pages as it can sometimes be with other books..They are heartwarming and make you think...

Hi Edel! I agree, its so nice to become interested in characters in a book. I enjoy the way that Nicholas Sparks writes. I have added reading 4 of his books as a book challenge on my reading blog.
Happy New Year!

Ashley | 1 comments Hi i'm Ashley. I'm 16 years old and live in Pennsylvania, USA.
My favorite books by Nicholas Sparks ar The Guardian and The Last Song. I discovered Nicholas Sparks after watching The Notebook. I literally balled for a good 20 mins after watching it. After that I had to read that book and just became addicted. I love him so much because hos romance is just so deep and amazing. You fall in love with everyone of his characters and I can't help but hope that I'll find love like that one day.

Nataly | 8 comments HI :) my name is Nataly, I am 20 years old and was born in USA.
My first book to ever read from Sparks was A Walk to Remember as a 7th grade class assignment. I was younger and completely against reading books but that story touched me. Super sweet. It was also the first movie of his i ever watched too.
My Favorite book so far is The Last Song. I cried for the last 4 chapter of the book! I could relate to the book and I AM A HUGE DADDY'S GIRL! I love Sparks because he always surprises me. Ever time i start to think he is losing his touch this huge part comes up and im all smiles or crying my eyes out. He makes stories real even if its not what you always want to happen. He writes about guys that are not perfect and kind of rough around the edges but try their hardest to become perfect for that one special girl. He writes beautiful stories and how he thinks of these plots are beyond me! I love love love Nicholas Sparks!

Christopher Corilla | 9 comments My name is Christopher, I'm 29 years of age here in the Philippines.

I first discovered sparks through the movies which made me curious to read his books finding out that films are only adaptations, its really a lot in the books where the film was adapted.

My favorite Nicholas Sparks book is Dear John and I would say A walk to Remember is also my favorite for they bring different charms. I've read the guardian and currently reading the rescue, i think i also like this one I'm on...

I love this author so much especially when i come to realize that reading his books makes me know his creations directly, i loved the films though i think i really got the best of the stories through his books. And this fictions seems to be a breath away from reality just a very indistinct line I often forget I'm reading a fiction.

Hello there Kayleigh, i also love Dear John, just happy to know that it's your favorite book too;D
I am from the Philippines, i just want to say what i love about it is that way it told how Love moves in mysterious ways, sometimes other perceive relationships as happiness and all the good things, but in this book has defined it in a deeper sense not all about happy endings and fancy fairytale love story but all in all i find it realistic and truly romantic. especially the secret new moon gazing thing...

Lalalalaaa | 8 comments Hey guys :) I joined this group because I'm currently reading the last song and I'm completely wow'd. I think it's my favorite Sparks book even though I've loved/liked every other book I've read by him as well. But now I'm definitely a fan of his work.

message 75: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookaddict_92) Hey everyone, my name's Amanda, I'm 19 from Massachusetts. I discovered Sparks from The Last Song. Which happened to be the first book I've read, so I'm new to him.. but just from that book, I fell in love with his work.
Right now, I've only read (fully) The Last Song, so at this point I really don't have a favorite. I'm currently reading Dear John, then I'll move onto the Guardian.

I'm going to have a tiny bit of a problem trying to get myself to read The Notebook and A Walk to Remember, just because I didn't like the movies.

I like Sparks because his writing is true, with what I read in The Last Song, and what I'm currently reading in Dear John.. he's making the books like real life. It's not easy as one two three.. which is something I like in books.. and that's why I like him.

I'm really looking forward to reading more of his books.

message 76: by Lalalalaaa (new)

Lalalalaaa | 8 comments Thank you Lady Vale! :)

Welcome Amanda! I agree on what you said about Sparks' writing. Personally, I loved A Walk to Remember. I love how he manages to create so totally different characters and yet make them all seem believable. The Notebook was.. well, kind of a let-down to me. But maybe you're onto something, I didn't like the movie either. I kind of wish I'd read the books first. I'm definitely going to read Dear John BEFORE watching the movie!

message 77: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookaddict_92) When ever I tried to watch the Notebook, I just couldn't really get into it.
I never understood how the story was being told.. so when they flashed back to the old couple, I'm always like who are they.
Is the book the same way?

I would definitely read Dear John, before seeing the movie. I watched the movie first, and I'm already comparing how things are different, and I'm only on chapter two..

With The Last Song, I read the book first, and then saw the movie.. the movie was okay.. it might have been better if they chose a different character to play Ronnie.

Randy Hall (rahall) Hi My name is Randy (don't be fooled by the name.. I am a girl) I am 28 years old and I live in Longview, Washington. I can not remember when I discovered Sparks books, but I love them... I always picture myself in them. My favorite one was probably the Guardian, or a Bend in the Road.
What I don't like is that when they make them into movies they leave out a lot of parts.
I recently had a baby so I have no time to read, so luckily my library had Safe Haven on Audio CD's so I listened to it that way.
I have read all of his books, so I am needing to find a new author while waiting for another book to come out. Any suggestions?

Lalalalaaa | 8 comments Welcome :) I've heard that Paul Richard Evans is a great author for people who like Sparks, if you're looking for something similar. I've never read any of his books myself, but I'm definitely going to after what I've heard.

By the way, I'm glad to hear you liked Bend in the Road. That's the next one on my reading list :)

Rachael (mrsepic) | 4 comments Hi my name is Rachael, 26 live in Carlisle PA ;)
My sister gave me my first Nicholas Sparks book because she really liked him and wanted to share and ever since I have been hooked. My favorite book so far is The Last Song. I just love his work and the fact that most of the stories are based in NC and my mom lives in OBX so they always remind me of her and who doesn't love a good tearjerker!

Sushi (readingwithsushi) (ferventlycurious) Heya, My name is Sushmita, I am 17 years old. I am an Indian.

I was surfing the net for Miley Cyrus news, and found out she was working for a movie The Last Song written by a Nicholas Sparks. And after a few months, I was out looking for books to buy as my birthday gift and came across The Last Song, so i bought it along with A Walk To Remember. And I fell in love with his books. I have around 12 of his books.

And i must say my favorite is The Notebook, A Walk To Remember and True Believer.

I love Sparks because even though most of his stories have a sad ending, his characters still grow strong. Besides that, very few writers can actually make you feel happy by the end even though one of thier character is no longer alive.

According to me love makes you strong even when its gone, and he captures that to a T.
Hats off to him!

Hi, my name is Kelsey. I am in college and live in Florida. I actually have never read a Nicholas Sparks novel but as soon as I saw A Walk to Remember and saw it was adapted from his book, I knew I loved him. I love that each story has a great message and that every story is about love, real kinds of love. Because the books are always better than the movies, I know I will love the books. Which book should I read first?

My Name is Taylor, I'm 20 years old, from the central coast of California, USA!

I discovered Nicholas Sparks after seeing a preview for the movie version of The Notebook. I decided I had to read the book and wouldn't let myself see the movie until I had gotten it and read it! I was hooked from then on.

I my favorite Nicholas Sparks book is A Bend in the Road. I loved the story so much! I haven't read them all yet, but I think it will remain as my favorite! The Lucky One would come in close second.

I love the way he tells stories, and the themes behind the stories. I can't get enough! I love his descriptions of North Carolina and have even grown to love NC although I have only been there once, in the airport for a few hours! I made sure to get myself an "I <3 North Carolina" keychain while I was there :)

I first discovered Nicholas Sparks when my friend lend me The Notebook, telling me it was a great book. I'm currently reading At First Sight and I think that my favorite ones are A Walk To Remember and Dear John.

Christina (royalesque) | 3 comments Hiyas!! My name is Christina, I'm 27 year old mother of 2 boys and soon to be wife who lives in Columbus, Ohio (USA).

I discovered Nicholas Sparks when I watched the movies "A Walk To Remember" and the "The Notebook" (the only 2 movies I seen so far). And because the books are ALWAYS better than the movies, I just had to read the books as well!! I instantly fell in love and I've been hooked ever since!

"A Walk to Remember" and "The Notebook" are my favorite books thus far. However, I've only read 6 books and have more to read so this is subject to change.

I just love the way Sparks writes... I love how I'm drawn into each story the minute I start reading. I love all the emotion... the laughs, the tears, the "Awwwwes" etc. and the feeling as if I'm apart of the story. Although, I believe in fairytales, I love that his stories are real and down to earth... reality that can be related to by many... Sparks just has a way with words and is a very talented writer!
