I'm sorry nobody's come up with anything. Lately I've been reading a lot of "boy meets girl, boy makes fool of himself over girl, boy finally wins over girl (book ends)." Did you find anything?

It's first person but The Secret Year is sort of boy meets girl/boy loses girl. It's written in first person though.

I love John Green! You also might want to check out Looking for Alaska, although it's again first person.
Ink Exchange is written in third person, it's more about the girl but she doesn't end up with the guy in the end, so it may meet your criteria.
I hope these help!
Transvision Zack - Have you ever read any of Huraki Murakami's stuff? He's one of my favorite authors, and his book "Norwegian Wood" may be the unique approach to the "Boy meets girl..." subject you are looking for.

um... Enchanted Glass is fantastic 3rd person between two characters mainly - but the boy gets the girl at the end but it's not a romance novel... it's a magic heavy book. Might not fit your genre requirements... actually it completely doesn't (but it is contemporary). :D

Have you read Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist? I thought it was a very good read. There was also a movie made out of it, but it didn't really follow the book.
